"Master ntor, did you an the Observer in your lyrics?"

When Loren ca out, he saw Lilith sitting at the desk, looking at the lyrics he had written.

Lilith had learned to call Loren that from Anna. She and Anna were closest, so she called Loren the sa way Anna did.

"You figured it out?"

Because these lyrics were ant for Cecelia, Loren had written them obscurely. On the surface they were about soone missing a deceased close friend, but in reality they were about the Perpetual Observer and the Dawn Princess.

To understand that required knowing the truth about the Perpetual Observer and the Dawn Princess, and simply knowing that truth was already a capital cri.

Lilith really did give off a vibe of being clever by seeming foolish. Her mory was poor and she knew very little, yet she could see the world’s ugliness.

"Mm."

After admitting it, Lilith picked up the lyrics and sang a passage:

"I waited for several thousand years,

My bones have yet to cool.

Behold that blood-red moon,

It is no longer the sky I knew.

Now light and dark exchange,

And my thoughts are severed.

Let the bloodlight shine over the mountains,

The world runs abnormally..."

Loren had set the lody to the tune of "The Thief's Anthem." What surprised Loren was that Lilith could actually read the sheet music.

This stuff had a certain technicality; without the corresponding knowledge, one couldn’t make sense of it.

"This stanza is about the Observer’s feelings upon returning to the world, right? On the surface it describes the changing sky, but actually it’s mocking the inversion of black and white, how villains beco the Orthodox Gods and the good are persecuted..."

Lilith analyzed it point by point, and even Loren hadn’t expected anyone to be able to fully unpack what he intended to express.

"How dare you say it like that... don’t guess at so things. If you guess right, that’s it..."

At ho Loren usually kept Shielding Spell active, but Lilith had spoken these things out loud anyway, and Loren felt a bit panicked.

He had the Observer’s blessing, so it didn’t matter if he spoke carelessly, but Lilith did not.

"Don’t say things like that carelessly from now on, understand?"

"Mm."

Lilith answered, then made a request to Loren:

"May I go ho for a bit?"

"Uh... yes, I can take you back..."

Looking into Lilith’s eyes, Loren once again felt like he was a kidnapper imprisoning a little girl; she had to ask his permission even to visit ho.

"Thank you."

Lilith grabbed Loren’s hand and waited for him to take her.

"…"

Loren had planned to leave later, but since Lilith was so eager, he had no choice but to take her first.

"I’ll be back soon, I won’t bring you all this ti."

Before leaving he told everyone that, and then he saw Anna waving a handkerchief at him:

"Goodbye. Although Lilith looks like a little girl, she’s one hundred percent an adult, so it’s not impossible for you to co back tomorrow."

"What are you always thinking about?"

Loren couldn’t help but tap her on the head; Anna let out a silly laugh.

After Loren left, Naclis finally voiced her question:

"Master ntor coming back tomorrow has what to do with Lilith being an adult? Even if marriage is involved, it can’t be settled in a day, right?"

The worst thing Naclis could imagine was marriage. Anna just patted her shoulder:

"Sis, you’re still young. You’ll understand when you’re older."

Naclis frowned. Again, every ti Anna said sothing Naclis couldn’t understand, she would answer like that.

"Laila, you’re the most mature among us. Do you understand what Anna ant?"

"Well..."

Laila hadn’t expected to be asked. Although she looked very young, she was actually the oldest among the witches. After Anna’s instruction she understood what Anna’s words implied.

But in Laila’s eyes, Naclis was like her daughter, still a child, and shouldn’t know such things.

"You’ll understand when you grow up."

Laila chose the sa line as Anna, mumbled it, then turned and left, leaving a puzzled Naclis behind.

...

Lilith sat obediently in the passenger seat like a finely crafted doll.

Her clothes were neatly arranged, hands folded on her skirt, elegant and beautiful.

"Did you co ho suddenly for sothing?"

After living together for so long, Loren had unconsciously assud Lilith was soone he raised, forgetting she had her own place.

But Loren couldn’t imagine Lilith would have any serious business; she lived a carefree life every day.

"I want to give you a gift, to repay you for taking care of recently. I was really happy when I was with you; I’ve forgotten when I was last this happy.

"You gave tasty food, pretty clothes... and I have given you nothing."

The World Card Lilith had given Loren couldn’t be asured by ordinary value. If soone had offered the World Card as a price to hire Loren to wipe out a country, Loren might have agreed, and yet he had traded half a pastry to get the World Card from Lilith.

"You don’t need to think like that. That card you gave is priceless to . I actually feel I owe you."

Loren’s thought process was simple. If it had been an immoral scoundrel, Loren wouldn’t hesitate to steal or kill; that was how he had gotten the Female Pope and the High Tower card.

But for soone like Lilith, who truly cared for Loren, he didn’t want to be indebted.

"Then the happiness you’ve given these past days is also priceless. I only gave you a card, yet you have accompanied so long, so I owe far more."

Those words distracted Loren for a mont. Lilith always managed to say things that left him silent.

If soone in his past life had said that to Loren, his life might have entirely turned over. After a long pause he continued:

"Lilith, what about your parents?"

That question might dredge up pain for others, but Lilith wouldn’t care much—she had already set her sadness aside.

Loren asked because he was already considering taking care of Lilith.

"They’re dead. I forgot how they died. I just rember people said it was because of ..."

Lilith spoke in a calm tone, as if she were describing soone unrelated to her.

"…"

Loren remained silent. He had roughly guessed what had happened. Among Vampires, a Half-vampire was a symbol of sha, so her parents’ deaths were very likely tied to Lilith’s birth.

Perhaps even Lilith’s fish-like mory was a self-protection chanism; overwhelming sorrow had caused her to forget.

"I will stay by your side for the rest of your life, always."

"Mm."

Lilith didn’t doubt Loren’s words at all; she showed a blissful smile.
