Sunday afternoon brought the entire extended family to Jay and Gloria's house again.

Her internship team had selected her influencer campaign proposal for internal developnt, and after two straight days of excitent she finally decided the family needed to hear about it.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, that ant a presentation.
Phil arrived emotionally prepared like it was the Super Bowl.
"I brought a notebook."
"You're not taking notes," Claire inford him imdiately.
"I support her ambition."
"You support chaos."
anwhile Haley stood near the living room television adjusting slides with visible nerves despite pretending otherwise.
This mattered to her now, not for validation, for pride.
Alex sat nearby reviewing the slide deck with ruthless concentration.
"You still have too much text on slide four."
"It's context."
"It's a hostage situation."
Haley glared at her before fixing it anyway.
The dynamic between them had evolved so naturally lately that nobody even comnted on it anymore.
Then Jay walked into the room carrying whiskey.
"If this presentation contains hashtags, I'm leaving."
"It contains branding strategy," Haley corrected.
"That sohow sounds worse."
Gloria laughed softly from the couch while Gael watched the room settle gradually into place around Haley.
The family looked at her differently now too.
Less like:
the pretty chaotic daughter.
More like:
sobody becoming competent.
That shift mattered a lot.
Eventually Haley connected the presentation and stood near the screen with a deep breath.
"Okay. So the campaign focuses on audience participation instead of passive advertising…"
And then she started.
Really started.
Confident voice.
Clear explanations.
Strong instincts about social engagent and branding psychology.
Even Jay stopped interrupting halfway through.
By the end of the presentation, the room had gone unexpectedly quiet.
Not because they were confused.
Because they were impressed.
Phil looked genuinely emotional.
Claire stared at Haley with sothing close to disbelief and pride mixed together.
Alex leaned back on the couch with crossed arms and a faintly smug expression like:

Then Jay spoke first.
"That's actually smart."
Haley blinked once.

Then Claire stood up and crossed toward her daughter slowly.
For a second Haley looked uncertain again, like she still expected criticism before praise.
Instead Claire pulled her into a hug imdiately.
"I'm really proud of you."
The sincerity in her voice softened Haley instantly.
And suddenly she looked younger again for a mont beneath all the new confidence.
Not because she was weak.
Because parental approval still mattered.
Then Gloria smiled from the couch.
"You see?" She gestured lightly toward Haley. "I told all of you she understood people."
Claire looked toward her briefly after that.
Thoughtful again.
Because Gloria had recognized Haley's strengths long before the rest of them fully did.
Then Phil wiped at one eye dramatically.
"My daughter has grown so fast."
"Oh my God," Alex muttered.
The room dissolved into laughter after that.
But while everyone crowded around Haley afterward asking questions about the campaign—
Gael noticed Gloria watching him briefly from across the room.
