Phil treated it like a national holiday.

Gael stood in the kitchen reviewing paperwork when Claire stepped beside him holding two bottles of water.
She handed him one.

Gael laughed imdiately.
"That sounds just like him."
Claire leaned against the counter beside him, sunlight filtering softly through the kitchen windows behind her.
For a mont neither spoke.
The house felt strangely calm compared to the usual family noise outside.
Then Claire glanced around slowly.
"It really is a good house."
Gael looked toward her.
"You sound surprised."
"I think I expected this to feel stranger."

Claire considered that honestly for a second.
"…It mostly just feels convenient."

"I know."
Claire watched him for a second longer than usual after that.
Then Phil's voice exploded from upstairs:
"GOOD NEWS, EVERYBODY."
Claire closed her eyes imdiately.
The inspector appeared behind Phil, already looking deeply exhausted.
Phil pointed dramatically toward the backyard.
"THE GATE IS STRUCTURALLY POSSIBLE."
Luke scread triumphantly from outside.
Haley nearly dropped her drink laughing.
