"I don’t think he’ll have too much trouble surviving, at least not against the regular monsters on the first floor. Against the boss, however, I suppose it’s going to take him so ti."
The Greater Ark Monkey stared at the pit into which Mamadou had just fallen and decided to make a little wager with himself. How long would it take Mamadou to kill the special monster on Floor One?
Moreover, the monsters of a pit were difficult for the unprepared to deal with. Being neither sentient nor sapient, everything they saw, they killed and devoured. It was part of their very nature.
Let’s say four days?
Yes, four.
After all, it’s only the first floor.
As he turned to leave, sothing caught his attention. A vine-woven basket containing Mamadou’s tools. He rembered that it had been part of Mamadou’s preparations before heading toward the location of the stele.
He shrugged.
"They won’t need those in the pit anyway. What a strange fellow!"
The Greater Ark Monkey left the area, walking leisurely with his hands clasped behind his back.
Mamadou began by checking his status.
As usual, rely thinking about it caused the status window to appear before him.
[Na: Ma]
[Level: 5]
[Mana: /]
[Race: Ark Nocyris Monkey]
[Class: Human, Nocyris Snake]
[LP: 100/100]
[SP: 495/500]
[Defense: 16]
[Speed: 18]
[Resistance: 16]
[Agility: 8]
[Points: 0]
[Ability: Evolution]
I’m still Level 5.
I don’t know how dangerous the first floor of this pit is, but I think I can handle it.
For now, his offensive skills were Claw, Fangs, and Charge. After evolving, among the skills he had not yet examined were Constrict and Whip. He evaluated them once again and checked the SP consumption of each skill.
In the anti, he had also tried climbing back out of the pit.
The system had imdiately displayed a ssage.
[You may not leave the pit.]
[You must kill the boss. Otherwise, the Floor 1 quest will never reappear on future attempts.]
That was an especially vicious restriction.
He had the option of abandoning the quest midway through, but doing so would cost him both the rewards and the quest itself permanently.
Mamadou sighed and decided to begin exploring Floor One.
The pit was an enormous space.
As he descended the slope connected to the entrance, he swallowed nervously.
He calmly surveyed his surroundings.
Nothing seed unusual.
Likewise, he detected no heat signatures that indicated the presence of living creatures.
He was careful to evaluate only those parts of his surroundings he considered necessary. He had no intention of wasting SP.
From experience, Mamadou knew that there were undoubtedly monsters capable of concealing their presence and ambushing him.
That was why he felt grateful that his evolution had gone in the right direction.
Sothing’s coming.
Mamadou suddenly saw sothing rushing toward him at high speed.
[Ratatosk Level 2]
Prepared for the attack, Mamadou shifted his body backward slightly and thrust his hand forward like a spear.
The Ratatosk impaled itself on it.
KouikK!
Kouikk!
His fingers pierced straight through the creature’s belly.
The monster collapsed onto the ground with a shrill cry.
Krikk!
Krikk!
Mamadou stomped on its head.
Crunch!
"I see. If this really is the beginner zone, then at this rate it’s going to be far too easy."
But his celebration was short-lived.
Several more Ratatosks appeared and charged toward him.
Looks like this area is crawling with these things.
There were enough of them to give him a rat phobia to accompany his goblin phobia.
At least he was sure he wasn’t going to die.
The Ratatosks bared their fangs and slashed with their claws as they rushed him.
Mamadou found the creatures grotesque.
"There’s no way I’m eating those."
Five Ratatosks leapt at him simultaneously from different angles.
Mamadou spun on the spot and activated Claw.
The result was imdiate.
The creatures were shredded apart.
Chunks of flesh scattered across the ground.
Mamadou felt that sothing was off, but he didn’t have ti to figure out what.
He also wanted to test one of his other skills.
So he activated Whip.
The skill fascinated him because it could be used through certain parts of his body, but it was especially effective through his tail.
Thanks to his powerful muscles and the astonishing number of joints in each of his limbs, every ti he swung his tail with force, it produced devastating damage.
He imdiately used the skill.
Several Ratatosks were killed instantly.
Mamadou stared at his long tail in astonishnt.
That level of power was monstrous.
And to think that if he improved his control over his body and all those extra joints, he could produce similar attacks simply by swinging his arms or legs.
However, after killing a large number of them, he realized it wasn’t worth the effort.
They were too weak.
His level wasn’t increasing.
He decided to flee and avoid the creatures whenever possible.
As he continued through the floor, he gained two more levels after encountering various monsters.
Blind Black Foxes.
Ridge Wolves.
Steel-Beaked Roosters.
The creatures that had given him the most trouble were the Ridge Wolves.
Parts of their bodies were covered with extrely sharp bone protrusions.
Avoiding their attacks was essential.
Likewise, striking the wrong area could injure him as much as it injured them.
Still, defeating a Ridge Wolf had not been without reward.
After removing one of the bone protrusions from its body and wrapping the base with strips of fur and tightly bound tendons, Mamadou managed to create a crude short sword.
With that weapon in hand, hunting the other monsters beca significantly easier.
The deeper he ventured into the floor, the stronger the monsters beca.
As he continued hunting, he spotted a familiar silhouette.
He had already eaten two of them before.
The level difference is only three, Mamadou thought.
I’ve got a short sword and several skills now.
Let’s see if I can kill one.
[Green Bear: A bear-type monster native to the ru Pit.]
[Never leaves its territory.]
[Extrely aggressive when its territory is entered.]
[Can see in the dark.]
[Possesses exceptionally keen hearing and sense of sll.]
There goes the elent of surprise.
Damn.
RAAAAAAR!
