150. Return to the Human Plains! Part 3

On our way down from the roof we pass through several hallways with rooms full of 'active' human Breeders and their monster clients. I can sll them through the doors and hear their enthusiastic moans through the walls. Part of wants to break down all the doors, rush inside, and leave my mark on every pussy I can find, but the most succulent and breedable of the whole lot are already on my either arm. Also, mission. Don’t forget. Don't get distracted.

Julia and Jenny lead into the lobby and out the front with minimal fuss. The whole building has a relaxing feel to its ambulance. Potted plants, paintings of beautiful scenery with humans and monsters frolicking together, and comfy furniture predominate the space. I can easily picture grabbing Julia and Jenny and throwing them on the couch to worship at the alters of their thighs in this setting. Ahem, focus.

Several random people and monsters get one look at and double-take before turning tail or going about their business as the case may be, but there’s no alarm. Nobody shouts for the guards while two calm young human won accompany . Getting their aid was definitely the right call.

Out in the street, there’s a bit more of a kerfuffle. Dozens of monsters going about their day, Doggins, Goblins, Sheeple, Henlin, Taurines, and Rams, all see us at once. They freeze. What looks like an apex predator has entered their ho without fanfare. But I’m not abducting their won, and the girls with are unhard and not scared, so maybe this isn’t an ergency? Perhaps a new monster joined their village without their having heard yet? Except that hasn’t happened since…

Or so I imagine they’re thinking. They taught us in school how, once a population reaches the size that you don’t personally know everyone, the ‘mind your own business’ mindset starts to appear. We’re not their problem if we don’t make ourselves such.

While the local monster population stews on whether or not to call for help, we continue walking at a calm and orderly pace toward the Town Hall. That’s when the first Guard Doggins notice us.

Book of Monsters Entry – Guard Doggin: Dosticated Canine monster. 2nd Tier, likely Promoted, below-average to inferior Rank. Often appears with a collar, whistle, and baton. Only known to evolve in human settlents. While inferior to the common Dire Wolf in combat, their capabilities seem to be focused on other areas. Improved vigilance, stamina, and threat-level assessnt. Lower aggression to those within their social circle. Ability to alert nearby pack mbers with their whistle. Their baton causes little damage on contact but has a high chance of causing the target to fall unconscious. Is this a so-called ‘natural’ evolution? If the catalyst is a human presenting the Doggin with a collar, does that imply individual humans have the ability to Promote others to higher Ranks and Tiers despite being the sole occupant of the 0-Tier? Or is the human in this case acting as representative of their settlent with all the powers conferred by that collective? Enjoys pats, long walks, and scritches behind the ear.

My photographic recollection of a relevant passage flashes through my mind. Equal parts observation and speculation, the Book has its useful points of interest before segueing into irrelevance and field notes.

A Guard Doggin approaches us only to balk for a mont as he cos near. His eyes widen and his ears flatten as he stares at in fear. My lingerie and immaculate breasts don’t distract him for a second; his attitude is all business. Physically, he looks like a Dire Wolf in humanoid form with hands and paws, a tail, dog ears, and larger-than-human canines in his teeth. He’s wearing a plain uniform of tunic and trousers common among the Guard.

He works up his nerve and strides directly over to stop in front of , saying, “How can I help you, ma’am?”

I’ll admit, I’m a bit taken aback. “Are you in the habit of assisting strange monsters make off with your won?”

“Tsk,” he clicks his teeth before answering, “Ma’am, the girls with you don’t sll afraid and you have a human’s scent, but you’re obviously not one yourself, and I’ll be frank—I’ve never felt a presence half as potent as yours. If a fight starts, the townsfolk’s safety would be in doubt. So, respectfully, I need you to tell how I can stop things from turning violent.”

Fair enough. “Take to the Town Hall. I’m here to see the Mayor.”

The Guard Doggin, Kevin, leads us to the Town Hall, a broad building several stories tall with an appropriately impressive high-ceilinged lobby. It’s in remarkably good repair considering its age, but that was probably the main criterion for its selection. A pack of Guard Doggins flank us, hands on their batons, keeping the other monsters at a distance to avoid interaction while maintaining at least an illusion of peace and control. He opens the large, double doors for us like a gentleman.

I stride inside the ornate building and take a look around. The floor tiles are mostly intact, the broken ones likely replaced centuries ago. Potted plants decorate anywhere the light falls from the windows. They say the glass once used here was as clear as water, allowing a perfect view of the outside while protecting the occupants from the weather. Those manufacturing techniques have either been lost to ti or proved too impractical to implent, because these windows are too opaque to see anything through them but sunlight.

Kevin proceeds upstairs while the rest of his pack remains outside to guard the door. Random monsters going about their business spot and flee or hurry along their way while refusing to make eye-contact. Through another set of wooden doors, we find a woman behind a desk.

Book of Monsters Entry – Hobgoblin Secretary: Dostic Goblinoid monster. 2nd Tier, likely Promoted, below-average to inferior Rank. Often appears with glasses, legal pad, and suit jacket. Only known to evolve in human settlents. Their evolutionary catalyst appears to be the formal presentation (was this ceremony originally an accident preserved through ti?) of a legal pad to a Goblin or simple Hob. Unable to summon a club like a typical Hobgoblin. Improved mory, handwriting, notetaking, translation abilities, and preternatural scheduling. Increased fastidiousness, organization, tiliness, and an aura of authority proportional to the bound companion of their office. Appears cold and aloof when acting in their professional capacity but displays vastly elevated libido to their superiors behind closed doors.

She’s around four and a half feet tall, grey-skinned, with sharp teeth, a clear complexion, simple reading glasses, red hair, a yellow sleeveless top, an orange miniskirt, a fake pearl necklace, and matching earrings for her massive goblinoid ears. The Hobgoblin girl is pouring over a detailed ledger as we approach.

“Excuse us, Janine, we’re here to see the Mayor,” Kevin says.

“I’m sorry, the Mayor is currently occupied with an important eting. Otherwise, how can I help y-y-y…” Her long, pointed ears droop as she looks up and notices . Her jaw drops, and her spectacles fall to the precarious tip of her nose. “Um. Hello.”

“~Hi~. Please tell the Mayor it’s urgent.” I only use a teaspoon of my special sauce, the Siren Voice, this ti. Things have been going my way so far and I’m not about to push it.

“O-of course! I’ll let him know right away. What’s your na, Miss…?”

“Alexandria Tanaka Vermillion, the Lady Mayoress of Field Town.”

“H-h-have a seat while you wait, umm, M’Lady, if you wish.” The Hobgobin Secretary seems shaken as she motions to a cushioned bench nearby before ducking through a pair of heavy doors.

Kevin gives a satisfied nod and steps away, “Well, if there’s nothing else you need, I’ll be with the boys outside keeping civilians out of your…” he glances at the Sli tendrils on my head, “Hair? Ahem.”

Then the three of us are alone in the waiting room. I blink and sit on the bench before I fall down in shock, unable to believe how well everything went. Usually, any number of things go wrong on my missions before I get where I’m supposed to be. Is my Luck Magic really that overpowered that I can walk right in and have a chat with the leader of a community without issues?!?

“I can’t believe we’re really going to speak with the Major!” Julia says as she snuggles next to on the bench, letting two of my arms wrap around her shoulders and waist.

“Yeah, seems too good to be true, right?” Jenny asks with a wary tone as she gets in close on my other side, accepting my second pair of arms.

“What do you an by that?” Julia says.

“It just seems weird. We’re the only people who’ve recognized Alex so far; they see her as a Feral monster who wants to speak with the town leader. I get that the Guard didn’t want anybody getting hurt, but it’s hard to believe Alex could instantly get an audience with the most important man in the city without a fight. Seriously, we’re the only people up here! I always expected the Mayor to have better security than this.”

Jenny is right, sothing feels off. There are lots of loud voices outside, but I don’t have any hearing-enhancent marks equipped and can’t understand them. Maybe I should fix that? I’ve got the Marks to start thinking about costic choices. What type of ear best suits ?

Wait, no, focus.

What am I doing sitting here? How many minutes has it been since that secretary went to tell the Mayor I was waiting? More importantly, how long was I going to wait before doing sothing?

I stand, my new girlfriends rising with as they sense my mood shift, and approach the heavy wooden door to the Mayor’s office. Just as I’m lifting my knuckles to knock, Janine the Secretary Hobgoblin opens the door the barest crack for her to slip through without seeing anything. Was that laughter coming from inside?

Her eyes bulge behind her glasses as she realizes how close I am, sweat droplets forming on her face, and her eyes drop to my crotch where my panties strain to contain . “M’Lady, please! I beg of you to be patient. The Mayor has urgent matters to attend to before—”

“More urgent than the fate of the Region? I doubt that.” Having said my piece, I gently grab Janine by the waist, the Secretary going stiff with fright at my touch, and deposit her in her seat behind the desk without disturbing a hair on her head.

Then I burst on through into the Mayor’s office.
