I opened my eyes and saw myself lying on my bed. This got confused, especially when I realised it was morning.
I sat up on the bed and began to massage my temples. Then, I noticed that the clothes I wore yesterday had been changed. I was no longer wearing trousers and a t- shirt, instead, I was now wearing a long golden dress that matched my golden hair perfectly.
"What’s going on?!". As I panicked, soone knocked and entered my room. When I saw that the person was Damien, I hurried out of bed and pointed a finger at him. I asked him, "What did you do to ?!".
He didn’t flinch, not even a little bit. The way he was looking at without averting his gaze from made stop pointing my finger at him.
"I didn’t do anything to you. After you walked away from , you passed out and slept for two days".
My eyes widened as I heard his explanation. "I passed out?". I muttered, and looking at the dress I wore, made ask him another question, "Did you?".
My gaze diverted between the golden dress and Damien multiple tis.
"I didn’t change your clothes myself. I brought the oga maids to attend to you when you were asleep. We don’t have ti to spare. Today is your coronation day".
"Eh? What did you say? Today is my coronation day?". I asked and was trying to understand what he ant.
"Tomorrow is the social event, Anastasia. If you are not crowned the shadows’ pack Alpha today, how then do you expect to organise the social event and handle the peace talk with the other packs?". He added, "Rember, the main purpose of the shadows’ pack social event is to bring other werewolf packs together and form a bond with so of them who are genuine. Anastasia, the shadows’ pack, is the largest and richest pack. If we don’t form or have enough allies on our side, our pack will be attacked. Out of the ten different werewolf packs that will co tomorrow, three of them are our allies. We must form another ally from the remaining seven packs, or else, if the seven packs decide to attack us together, we might lose the battle, together with our pack".
I placed my hand on my chest after listening to Damien’s words. His words put a lot of pressure on my heart. So, being an alpha is a lot of pressure? I never knew that.
’According to Anastasia’s mories, except the shadows’ pack and the Lycan king whose face no one had ever seen, there are only ten werewolf packs in the world. So ten of them are going to co here tomorrow?! Including the Golden warrior’s pack?! Alpha Dylan’s pack? No!’. I thought to myself.
"Wait. To be sure, the ten werewolf packs are going to co to our pack tomorrow? All ten of them?". I curiously asked him.
"Yes. This year is different. All the ten werewolf packs have agreed to co tomorrow. It’s the first ti ever that this has happened". Damien answered . His answers bothered beyond imagination.
"By chance, is the Lycan king coming too?". I asked. I didn’t know why, but I was curious.
"Our pack would never send any invitation to the Lycan king. He’s ruthless and dangerous. No werewolf pack would ever want to associate themselves with him or his pack". Damien replied to .
I wanted to ask him more questions, but it seed like I had asked him enough questions, because he said to , "No more distractions. It’s ti for you to go through the ritual and beco the Alpha. Ready or not, you must beco the Alpha today, unless you want to get married or let handle the social event for you".
"I am ready". This was my reply.
There was a sudden pause. Nobody said anything to anyone. It was later on that Damien said to , "Let’s go to the ancient tree".
I nodded at him. Before I left the room with him, I went and wore the golden heels that were positioned next to my bed.
Upon arriving outside, I followed Beta Damien to the ancient tree. I have heard about the ancient tree. Only the shadows’ pack has sothing like that. And today is the day I will see and stand in front of it.
In the shadows’ pack, before a werewolf is crowned alpha, he or she must walk around the ancient tree with the pack’s golden staff, in order for the tree to decide if he or she is worthy of ruling the pack.
With all that being said, when Boris was still alive, how the heck did he want to beco the shadows’ pack Alpha? Did he really think that the ancient tree would acknowledge him to be worthy of ruling the pack? Anyway, I just hope that the ancient tree will acknowledge . If not, it would be a great embarrassnt for to be rejected in the presence of my pack.
Also, I forgot to ntion, the ancient tree is the gift that the moon goddess gave to the shadows’ pack.
Damien and I arrived at the place the ancient tree was located.
The warriors were already in place, including Gamma Clark. I also saw mbers of the shadows’ pack and the twelve elders, who sotis, advise my father. Sorry, I an to say they advised Anastasia’s father.
Except for the shadows’ pack werewolves, no other werewolves are allowed to see or go near the ancient tree.
"What makes her think she can beco our alpha? She should stick to being a good-for-nothing Luna. That suits her very well. Why did Beta Damien suddenly plan to crown her the alpha?".
"Exactly. What makes her think that the ancient tree would deem her worthy of ruling us? Although Beta Damien acknowledges her as our alpha, I doubt the ancient tree would".
"I heard that she finally awakened her wolf and killed the rogue werewolves’ leader who murdered our previous Alpha and Luna. Maybe because of that, the ancient tree might acknowledge her".
"Nonsense. I don’t believe she killed the rogue werewolves’ leader. It must have been Beta Damien who killed him and gave her credit for it".
"If the ancient tree mistakenly chose her, it would be hard to fight her and take away the alpha title. After all, beta Damien had already announced that he would protect her and fight in her place until she beca stronger to defend herself".
"In my opinion, Beta Damien should beco the alpha instead. He’s worthy, unlike Luna Anastasia".
I heard people chattering among themselves. In the midst of their discussion, I glanced behind and saw a smirk on Gamma Clark’s face.
’I don’t want to get angry, but he annoys so much!’. I thought. Because of Gamma Clark, I unblocked my mind reading power, as I wanted to know what he was thinking about.
’I can’t believe that this nonsense is happening before my own eyes. Beta Damien intimidated with his aura simply because I spoke against our brainless Luna becoming our alpha. He told he made a deal with her that if she killed one of the rogue werewolves, he would acknowledge her as our pack’s new alpha. I can’t wait for the ancient tree to reject her and prove him wrong. Anastasia is, and will never, be worthy of becoming an alpha!’.
After reading what Gamma Clark was thinking about, I shut my eyes and ditated deeply for a few seconds. As I succeeded in blocking my mind - reading power, I gritted my teeth so hard that I ended up injuring myself. Blood gathered in my mouth as I thought, ’I will prove all of you wrong! I must!’.
