Now reading: Chapter 1305 - 1300: Nicholas Croft, You Don’t Deserve to Ha from Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride, a Romance novel by Elephant cross river.

Nicholas Croft knew that Sophie Foster’s split personality was only an occasional occurrence, and at this mont, her thinking was normal.

Not wanting to hide anything or further agitate her, Nicholas Croft reached out to Sophie Foster, "Honey, please don’t be angry. Let finish. I also suspect Hannah Hargrave, but we haven’t found any evidence yet..."

"Slap!" A crisp sound interrupted Nicholas Croft’s explanation, and Sophie’s raised hand still lingered in the air.

Nicholas Croft’s outstretched hand was also frozen, his fingers involuntarily twitching, and his handso face was turned to the side.

Sophie’s strike was forceful, leaving several noticeable finger marks on Nicholas’s left cheek.

"Nicholas Croft!" Sophie Foster gritted her teeth, her shaky, pronounced breathing showcasing how furious she was.

"What kind of man are you! You can’t even protect your own daughter, what kind of man are you!" Sophie Foster nearly scread the last few words, glaring fiercely at Nicholas Croft like an enraged little beast, her eyes brimming with tears.

Sophie’s questioning was like a sharp dagger stabbing Nicholas Croft in the heart, causing a stinging, suffocating pain.

Nicholas Croft sighed, his breath trembling, eyes slightly red as he remained still in the position where Sophie had slapped him.

"If... this helps you feel a bit better, Lara, don’t hold back..."

"Nicholas Croft, you bastard, why didn’t you protect our daughter, why..." Sophie Foster charged at him, hitting Nicholas Croft relentlessly. He remained motionless, allowing her to vent as tears stread from his gently closed eyes.

"Give back my daughter, sob..." In the end, Sophie collapsed into Nicholas Croft’s arms, wailing uncontrollably.

Nicholas Croft’s trembling hands held Sophie Foster close, offering no solace, for no words, however eloquent, could nd the loss.

As a man, his failure to protect his wife and daughter was a dereliction of duty. Losing a daughter and disfigurent are not burdens one can easily bear.

Sophie Foster wept despairingly in Nicholas Croft’s embrace. After so ti, she suddenly pushed herself up, tearing at Nicholas Croft’s clothes while muttering to herself, "I want a baby, give back a baby, Nicholas Croft, give back a baby..."

Sophie fell once more into a frenzy, and Nicholas Croft knew that at this mont, she was again...

The loungewear was a pullover without buttons, so Nicholas Croft voluntarily lifted his arms to remove his shirt, baring his chest in front of Sophie, who forcefully pushed him, causing his head to hit the headboard with a thud, a pain that couldn’t compare to the ache in his heart.

Sophie’s movents were urgent and frantic, incessantly tearing at her clothing, sliding down Nicholas Croft’s loungewear pants halfway before seating herself, "I want a baby, let’s make a baby now..."

Propping himself up gently, Nicholas whispered, "Honey, just lie back and let ..."

Nicholas Croft pitied Sophie Foster, her body already emaciated beyond recognition, not wanting her to exert herself. Yet, his good intentions received no reward.

Sophie no longer moved, staring intently at him. Her flawless face resembled a mask, utterly devoid of emotion, when suddenly, another slap landed on Nicholas Croft’s face.

Accompanied by a chilling rebuke, "Nicholas Croft! You don’t deserve a child!"

After the commotion, Sophie Foster got out of bed, her upper clothing in disarray, her lower half in a primitive state. She curled up on a hanging chair with her knees in her arms, staring blankly out the window.

In May, T City was still in spring. Though not cold, it hadn’t yet reached sumr warmth.

Worried Sophie might catch a chill, Nicholas Croft nonchalantly pulled up his loungewear pants and brought over a light blanket. As he approached the hanging chair, Sophie seed to grow eyes at the back of her head, spitting out a cold, emotionless word, "Get out!"

Nicholas Croft’s grip on the blanket tightened, not daring to lay it over her.

He tentatively mouthed, "Honey, put on the blanket. You’ll catch a cold."

Sophie Foster...

Gently swaying the hanging chair, she ignored him.

"How about... putting on your clothes, let Dad help you, okay."

"Get out..." Sophie’s raised voice made her impatience clear.

Nicholas Croft sighed, turning to place the blanket back on the bed, opting instead to raise the air conditioning temperature...

Hours passed before he cautiously moved Sophie, whose face had pressed into her knees without moving for a long ti, back to the bed...

mories, whether joyous or painful, ultimately turn out to be lancholic.

Nicholas Croft turned his head, extending an arm to grab the phone from the bedside table, glancing at the ti, already eight. After placing the phone back, he carefully slid his arm from beneath Sophie’s head and lifted the light blanket to get up.

Quietly opening the wardrobe, he lightly put on a shirt and suit pants, grabbing his suit jacket before leaving the bedroom.

"Sir, you’re up."

Little May greeted softly, afraid to wake the two. Having prepared breakfast, she didn’t dare clean the room, choosing instead to pass the ti online in the living room.

"Mm," Nicholas Croft responded lightly, prompting Little May to tuck her phone into her apron pocket and stand up.

"Has the lady woken up yet? Shall I serve breakfast now?"

"She’s still asleep. We’ll have breakfast when she wakes up." Nicholas Croft gently closed the bedroom door, laying his suit on the sofa, and walked toward the shared bathroom to avoid waking Sophie.

After Nicholas Croft entered the bathroom, Little May sat back on the sofa, letting out a heavy sigh, self-reproaching for the car accident.

A few minutes later, Nicholas Croft erged, prompting Little May to stand, "Sir, are you going to have breakfast now, or wait for the lady?"

Nicholas Croft donned his suit jacket, "I’m not eating. I have errands to run. Take good care of her when she wakes."

"Rest assured, sir, I will dedicate myself to her care and ensure no more accidents happen."

Little May solemnly promised, and Nicholas Croft nodded slightly, "Don’t bla yourself too much; it’s all in the past."

So people are malicious, and despite precautions, negligence still occurs. Besides, she wasn’t at fault for the incident. His current task was to uncover the mastermind behind this sche, making the perpetrators pay doubly for what his Lara suffered!

Nicholas Croft drove toward his villa. anwhile, in a neighborhood, Harry Zachary stepped out from the unit’s entrance in loungewear, covering his mouth to stifle a yawn. Surveying his surroundings, seeing no suspicious figures, he turned his head, "Co out now, no one’s around."

Hannah Hargrave erged with dark circles, once again confirming the coast was clear before following Harry into the parking garage.
