Logan Ray returned ho when it was already night, and although the neighborhood was lit up brightly like a multitude of hos, his heart was shrouded in darkness.
Titus Zane said, "Logan, let’s go out for a al. I am leaving, and perhaps I won’t co back again..."
He chose Ge Diao, the restaurant he had invested in.
He had kept it a secret from everyone, secretly investing in the restaurant that was on the verge of bankruptcy, not for any other reason but because, once, Titus Zane had told him, "When we beco famous in the future, let’s open a gallery. I’ve even thought of a na for it—Ge Diao, because only those with taste appreciate it!"
He passed on to the female owner of the restaurant all the recipes he learned for Titus Zane in Paris, including juice freshly squeezed with cheese and honey. He had once said, "Eat less sweets, it leads to weight gain." But secretly, he always added cheese to the fresh juice he made because he wanted to fatten her up...
Logan Ray didn’t know how he managed to walk ho.
The traffic departnt called him to tow his car to the vehicle managent bureau, making him pay a fine before he could retrieve his car.
He hung up the call silently at the ti.
"Big Brother Logan, why have you just co back now? The baby has kicked several tis!"
As he pushed open the door, Ava Charles rose to greet him, leaning one hand on her lower back, looking very clumsy. The doctor said it might be a boy... but both he and Titus Zane preferred girls.
Giving Ava Charles a lukewarm glance, Logan Ray numbly walked into the bedroom, then locked the door, shutting Ava Charles out.
This was the first ti he had treated Ava Charles coldly since accepting her.
"Big Brother Logan, open the door, what’s wrong?" Ava Charles kept knocking on the door, her voice urgent.
Was Big Brother Logan angry at her? But she had admitted her mistake, confessed that she pretended to be unwell because she didn’t want him to et with Sister Titus Zane, because... once upon a ti, he loved her so much.
"Open the door, Big Brother Logan, I was wrong, don’t ignore ..."
"I’m very tired, can I have so ti alone?" Logan Ray’s exhausted voice ca from the bedroom, causing Ava Charles’s heart to tighten as she lowered her eyes, "Okay, I won’t disturb you."
She returned to the living room, where the fairy-tale drama on TV no longer held any appeal.
Numbly sitting on the sofa, she stared blankly at the TV.
She had been selfish. Sister Titus Zane said she wouldn’t co back and wanted to say a final goodbye to Logan, but she faked sickness, causing Logan Ray to arrive hours late.
Logan Ray didn’t intentionally avoid the call; at that mont, she was lying on his legs, and she could hear everything from the phone—Sister Titus Zane just wanted to say goodbye to Logan Ray, but she was being petty...
Ava Charles began crying soundlessly, not daring to make a noise for fear that the man she loved most in the bedroom would hear her.
Crying, she suddenly rembered sothing and hurriedly started looking for her phone.
Last night, while Logan Ray was sound asleep, she had secretly gone through his phone, and she had discreetly noted down Sister Titus Zane’s number.
As she pressed the numbers, Ava Charles’s shoulders jerked, and with a soft sob, she dialed the number, but no one answered for a long ti.
"Sister Titus Zane, please pick up the phone! Hurry up and answer!"
Ava Charles muttered anxiously, but the call went to voicemail without anyone picking up.
Undeterred, Ava Charles dialed again.
This ti, the ringtone lasted a long ti, and just when it was about to disconnect automatically, the call was answered.
"Hello... who is this..." A woman’s voice laced with deep drowsiness answered, sounding languid yet pleasant.
"Sister Titus Zane, can you..."
"Who are you calling!" Just as Ava Charles held the phone to her mouth, Logan Ray’s figure appeared in the living room, his handso face visibly annoyed!
