Oliver Shaw originally planned to celebrate New Year’s Eve with lody Zachary, but halfway through a director wedged his way in, and then that neighbor Strong Williams also got dragged along by lody. Oliver felt unbalanced thinking that Strong was sitting in lody’s nanny car while he had to catch a ride with the director.
And when they sat down at the dining table, lody warmly called Strong to sit by her side, with her assistant on the right, leaving Oliver to sit next to the director.
As soon as they sat down, the director started talking about investnt, and Oliver didn’t hesitate, agreeing to invest ten million imdiately. However, he did ntion to the director that lody shouldn’t be overworked. Across the table, Strong chuckled and said, "lody, your cousin sure cares about you," but lody was ungrateful, glancing at Oliver with disdain and saying, "Unnecessary!"
The waiter quickly brought the dishes, and lody picked up a piece of rib with her chopsticks and gave it to Strong instead of eating it herself, "Brother Strong, eat it while it’s hot; this sweet and sour rib tastes authentic when hot."
"lody, you eat too," Strong also picked up a piece and put it into lody’s bowl, and the two looked very affectionate as they served each other dishes.
Oliver couldn’t stand the sight, knowing she liked sweet flavors, which is why he ordered that dish. This woman, she doesn’t think of him at all! Imdiately unhappy, he said, "Neighbor Strong, using your chopsticks to pick up food for soone else isn’t very hygienic."
As Oliver spoke, everyone at the table was taken aback, looking up at him. Director Liu’s chopsticks were still reaching for the dish.
For no other reason than his remark, "Neighbor Strong."
After a mont of surprise, Strong laughed and said, "Cousin, you don’t know, do you? Lately, lody and I have gotten used to each other; at our age, no one minds these things."
Strong William’s words were straightforward, among closer people these details aren’t considered, but in Oliver’s ears, they took on a different tone. He sneered disdainfully, "No matter how long you two have been together, it can’t be longer than lody and ."
"Cousin, what’re you saying?" Strong asked, not understanding, while lody shot him a warning look.
"Oliver Shaw, if you keep babbling, just go ho first!"
Seeing the little woman across from him clearly siding against him, Oliver had to swallow his frustration.
Director Liu was sharp, quickly grasping the situation after a round of conversation. He raised his wine glass with a smile to ease the tension, "Co on, Mr. Shaw, let’s have a drink!"
Glancing at the pair across from him still serving each other food, Oliver took a big swig of white wine in defiance. A man in his fifties, still not completely free from youthful ambitions, he then looked at Strong with a half-smile and asked, "Brother Strong, this late, won’t your wife worry about you not going ho?"
"Oh, cousin, you don’t need to worry about that," Strong sighed as he picked up more food, "My wife passed away early, now I live alone, as long as I’m full, no one else goes hungry."
"Ha, seems like we’re in the sa boat now," Oliver smiled slyly, raising his glass, "Co on, Brother Strong, let’s have a drink!"
Oliver appeared to smile gently, but secretly he thought, let’s see if I can’t drink you under the table!
Just as Strong picked up his glass, lody patted his arm in reminder, "Drink less, you’re not young anymore!"
Oliver...
He truly wanted to curse! This woman, is she purposely trying to provoke him? He has high blood pressure, and she doesn’t care about him at all?
"lody, it’s fine, I’ll just have a small sip, cousin already spoke," Strong also patted lody’s hand, smiling in comfort. Their interaction would make anyone mistake them for a couple, especially Oliver across the table, whose peach blossom eyes visibly tightened at the sight of Strong’s hand over lody’s.
