The girl stood still with the na card in her hand, and as soon as she saw Miles Sterling lock his car and walk away, she imdiately ran back to the art studio.
"Teacher Sterling!"
The girl suddenly pushed the door open and ca in, startling Vanessa Sterling, who was standing by the window.
A bit flustered, Vanessa turned her gaze away and quickly turned back to sit on the chair in front of the easel. "What’s wrong?"
The girl chuckled. "Were you peeking at soone again?"
"I just felt a little stuffy, so I opened the window for so air."
The girl looked at her with skepticism and asked, "Did you see going to him just now?"
Vanessa was taken aback. "You went to see him?"
Seeing Vanessa’s bewildered expression, the girl laughed and said, "Alright, Teacher Sterling, I believe you were just opening the window."
"Why did you go to him?"
The girl shook the na card in her hand, then placed it on the small cart next to Vanessa, which was filled with paints and drawing tools. Playfully, she said, "No need to thank . I’m just setting your future happiness here, Teacher Sterling."
Vanessa looked down in confusion, and when she saw that it was Miles Sterling’s na card, her face uncontrollably flushed red.
"Oh, Teacher Sterling, have you secretly looked for him before?"
Avoiding eye contact, Vanessa responded, "Why would I look for him?"
"Because when I asked for his card, he seed to say sothing like, ’Your boss knows my contact info.’ Could it be that you t him at a previous art exhibit?"
"...Maybe."
"You two really have fate! And he also shares the sa surna. With so many coincidences, surely Cupid is secretly tying the knot for you. Teacher Sterling, go for it! Just a little courage, and happiness will be yours!"
Red-faced with embarrassnt, Vanessa hesitated, not knowing how to explain.
The teaching assistant didn’t give her a chance to explain, waving goodbye while running toward the door. "My boyfriend is here to pick up. Bye, Teacher Sterling!"
Vanessa nodded. The girl ran to the door and even made a cheering gesture at her.
Vanessa glanced at her encouragingly, and after the assistant left, she looked at the dark na card.
Drawn to the engraved na "Miles Sterling" on the card, she unknowingly drifted off in thought.
She never considered Miles Sterling her happiness, yet now, this na seems no longer a nightmare.
She didn’t know why her heart was racing so, either.
She reached out to pick up the na card, looked at the trash bin beside her, hesitated, but ended up slipping the card into a nearby wooden drawer.
Miles Sterling stayed in his room, knowing that the na card wouldn’t change anything, but he still glanced from ti to ti at the phone beside his bed.
Hoping that its dark screen would light up the next second.
Until late at night, such a fantasy ultimately didn’t co true.
Despite the cold dicine being said to induce drowsiness, Miles was wide awake.
He walked to the balcony and lit a cigarette, only then noticing that the small building across the street still had its lights on.
Through the window, he could vaguely see a girl painting at an easel.
It was so late, yet she hadn’t slept.
He rembered she was at the hospital getting an IV drip during the day, but she wasn’t resting, even now.
Miles showed concern on his face but couldn’t express it directly.
She had finally found stability in this city, and if he disturbed her, she might move to another city again.
Miles didn’t want her to lead such an unstable life, so even though he often went on business trips to this city, he only quietly stayed nearby, observing without daring to et her.
