Shane kept his promise to Audrey Sutton without any hesitation.
Audrey probably had been looking forward to today, and didn’t sleep in—she woke up while Shane was still working out in the gym.
She peeked into the gym, saw him running, and didn’t disturb him, so she went back to her room to start her morning routine.
Though it was just a day of make-believe, for Audrey, it was like realizing a long-standing fantasy.
Ever since she began to have feelings for him, she’d often thought during her school days, how great it would be if they were of similar age and went to the sa school or even the sa class.
Especially during middle and high school, when you first start to experience young love, seeing other classmates being secretly affectionate, riding bikes to school together, holding hands on the playground, waiting under the dormitory for als, or even being lucky enough to sit next to the person they liked...
She watched all this with envy but never thought of just casually finding a boy to experience the innocence of youth. Instead, she constantly imagined doing these things with Shane.
She was well-aware that because of the age difference between them, these dreams would never co true. But being able to experience it once now, she felt content.
When Shane returned to the bedroom from the gym, he saw Audrey sitting in front of the vanity mirror, looking at her twin ponytails. Shane frowned, "What kind of hairstyle is that?"
Audrey, while fixing her bangs, turned her head to look at him, then at herself in the mirror, and asked in confusion, "What’s wrong? Is it lopsided?"
Shane casually replied, "Yeah."
Then added, "It doesn’t look good."
Shane: "The way you usually wear your hair is great."
When they walked together, the age difference was already obvious, and now she was dressing like a minor. It would look more like a schoolgirl bringing her dad to a parent eting when they went to the school later.
Hearing him say "it doesn’t look good," Audrey imdiately doubted her reflection in the mirror—did it really look bad? She silently took down the ponytails she had spent so long styling.
"You’d better go shower; I’ll go prepare breakfast."
Shane picked up the bathrobe by the bed and said as he walked to the bathroom, "I’ll do it later."
While tidying her hair in the mirror, Audrey said, "Don’t treat like I’m useless. When you weren’t at ho a while back, I managed just fine, and now I’ve ended up doing everything."
Shane: "Can being not at ho and being at ho be compared? Besides, by the ti I’m done with my shower, you might still be fixing your hair."
Audrey pouted, lowered her head, and pulled a box from the drawer, picking through the hair clips inside.
Clipping one on, finding it didn’t match, then swapping for another, and so on...
Sure enough, when Shane ca out of the shower, Audrey was still sitting in front of the vanity mirror fussing over her look.
Shane, being used to it, said nothing as he ca out, just using a towel to dry his hair and asking her, "What would you like to eat?"
Still adjusting the hair clips in front of the mirror, Audrey thought for a mont and said, "Tomato egg noodles, with plenty of tomatoes."
"You love to eat kid’s food."
Shane mumbled and then went downstairs.
Soon, Audrey followed him down, fearing Shane might not wear the outfit she had prepared, and she brought down the matching couple’s outfit.
"Let do it, you go change."
Shane: "Just sit over there."
Audrey took a sip from the cup of hot milk Shane had made, then patted her belly and said, "Look how tough your dad is, always picking on your mom. You better stand up for her in the future."
Shane gave her a sidelong glance, using chopsticks to place the noodles from the pot into a bowl, thinking that even before this child was born, the mother-child duo was already gearing up to go against him.
He thought that having a child would be the start of their happiness, but now it seed his happy days were counting down.
The noodles were done, and after a few bites, Audrey said she couldn’t eat anymore.
Shane didn’t push her to eat more, afraid she might throw up if forced, so when she said she didn’t want to eat, he didn’t insist.
But when leaving, he prepared so biscuits for her, so she would have sothing to eat if she got hungry later.
Though Audrey got up early today, she spent most of the ti getting ready, and when they arrived at the school, they didn’t stop a mont, parking the car and heading straight to the classroom.
Fortunately, her pregnancy kept her from putting on makeup, or else they’d be half an hour late.
It’s no longer surprising for Shane to pick up Audrey at school, but usually, everyone just saw his car and rarely saw him. Even if they did catch a glimpse, he would quickly be gone.
Today, as Shane walked with Audrey hand in hand to the teaching building, it inevitably sparked discussions among the students.
His outfit was low-key today, at least compared to the suits he usually wore, but no matter what, he seed to stand out everywhere.
Having been married to Shane for almost a year, Audrey, who initially felt uneasy under everyone’s gaze, has now slowly gotten used to it.
She no longer paid much attention to how others looked at them, focusing more on the person next to her.
Upon entering the classroom, nearly half of the students were already there.
Unlike her brother’s class, where everyone scrambled for the front seats, now everyone squeezed to the back, with the first three rows empty.
Shane intended to sit in the first row next to the door, pulling Audrey along, but she quickly tugged his arm, nodding her chin towards the two empty seats at the wall in the third to last row, saying, "Sit in the back."
Shane: "What difference does it make?"
Audrey: "Are you silly? Why sit right under the teacher’s nose to get picked on?"
Shane: "So, you daydream during class?"
Audrey paused for a mont, then continued walking forward, chuckling defensively, "No, I just get nervous sitting up front, and when I’m stressed, I can’t focus on the lesson. Plus, this teacher likes to ask questions and often picks on students sitting in the front."
Shane: "If you pay attention in class and can answer his questions, what are you afraid of?"
Audrey sat sideways in the seat against the wall, watching Shane sit down beside her before saying, "Yes, you’re smart, you know everything, you’re not afraid of the teacher asking questions, you’re a little smart cookie."
Shane gave her an exasperated sidelong glance and threatened coldly, "Don’t co to work at the company tomorrow."
Hearing this, Audrey quickly grabbed his arm with a smile, "How can you not distinguish between good and bad? I was complinting you!"
