Phoebe King sat sideways in the hanging chair by the window, swaying as she said, "The environnt here is nice. I’m thinking of buying a house around here too, but it’s a bit far from your brother’s school. I’m worried it might be inconvenient for his work."
Audrey Sutton: "It’s not that far. Shane used to drive to school every day before going to work. It’s just a few minutes by car. Besides, didn’t my mom ask you to move back in?"
Phoebe King: "But you’re not moving back too, and I’d be so bored. Do you expect to stay ho and play gas with Six every day?"
Audrey Sutton thought it made sense. During the day, her parents were busy with their own work, and her brothers were mostly not at ho. Only Six would often stay in when he wasn’t out competing, which was indeed quite boring.
"I can ask around when I have ti, see if anyone nearby is looking to sell."
"I think buying now and allowing ti for renovations should work, as long as we can move in after the baby is born. Being close ans the kids can play together."
Audrey Sutton agreed with this. A child’s childhood is more interesting growing up with peers, not just spending ti with adults.
"I’m so bored. Why don’t you invite soone over so we can play cards?"
Audrey Sutton thought for a mont and realized there was another person who was probably just as bored as Phoebe.
Sure enough, when she called, Seraphina Vaughn agreed without hesitation and showed up at Audrey’s house with a deck of cards in less than ten minutes.
Among the three, Seraphina Vaughn was sowhat better at playing cards, at least knowing how to count cards. Audrey Sutton and Phoebe King were really just relying on luck, playing randomly without counting.
Phoebe King was more stubborn than Audrey Sutton; she liked to claim the ’landlord’ position regardless of her cards. This ant Audrey often won by sticking with Seraphina Vaughn, while Phoebe King got more determined the more she lost, covering her face with sticky notes until there was no room left.
"Again, again, I just don’t believe it!"
Suddenly, the sound of a car approaching caught Audrey’s attention; she realized Shane Warner might be back. Panicking, she mixed the cards they hadn’t finished dealing: "Quick, put them away!"
Phoebe King cursed: "What the hell? I finally got a pair of jokers! Are you doing this on purpose?"
Audrey hurried to glance out the window, her panic growing: "It’s really him! Quickly, tidy up, take those sticky notes off your face, don’t let him find out!"
Seraphina Vaughn casually gathered the cards, teasing Audrey: "Didn’t you say you rule at ho? Why are you so scared just playing cards?"
Audrey didn’t have the ti to argue, pulling open the desk drawer: "Hide the cards here, and let’s say we were watching TV!"
Phoebe King, not having had enough fun, complained: "It’s still so early! Why is Shane back already?"
Audrey, hurrying downstairs, said: "I don’t know either. He didn’t call ."
As she got to the stairs, Shane Warner walked in, paused seeing Phoebe King and Seraphina Vaughn, and then noticed Audrey’s guilty look, realizing they weren’t up to anything good.
Audrey laughed awkwardly and asked, "Why are you ho so early?"
Shane Warner replied with a question: "What were you doing at ho?"
Audrey: "Watching TV."
Shane Warner clearly didn’t believe it, said while changing his shoes: "Watching TV while playing cards?"
Audrey flinched, thinking of an excuse, but Phoebe King decided to co clean: "What’s wrong with us keeping your wife company playing cards to kill so ti? You should be thanking us."
Shane gave Phoebe King a sharp look but didn’t say anything more, explaining to Audrey: "I have a dinner eting tonight, so I’m not eating at ho. It’s good you have them keeping you company. The fridge is full, so no ordering out."
Audrey obediently nodded, following him upstairs: "Going to et clients?"
"Yes, there’s a project with Starfield to discuss. I’m going to shower, could you find so clothes?"
Audrey went to the wardrobe, picked out a suit, and matched it with a tie and tie clip for him.
This ti, he took longer in the shower, as he styled his hair, brushing his bangs back, making him look more dashing.
Audrey helped him with his outfit, watching him spray cologne on his wrists, clearly more polished than before.
In the past, even when he had functions, he rarely ca ho to change. In hot weather, it was understandable, but now, when it wasn’t sweaty, his clothes hadn’t seed inappropriate. Seeing him shower, change, and use cologne, Audrey asked teasingly: "eting a female client?"
Shane Warner paused at the implication, looked down at her and chuckled: "Both male and female colleagues."
Audrey pouted: "Why suddenly so sharply dressed?"
Shane Warner joked: "Can’t go out looking sloppy and disgrace you, can I?"
Audrey thoughtfully nodded: "True, but you’re so handso, I get a bit worried. What if a lady client tries to seduce you?"
Shane Warner chuckled: "Want to co along?"
Audrey hesitated, then shook her head: "Nope, it’s too cold, and I’m too lazy to change. Besides, the food looks good but doesn’t fill up."
In the past, she might have gone with him. Now, she trusts him more.
Before leaving, Shane Warner reminded: "After dinner, don’t go out aimlessly, stay ho."
Phoebe King impatiently waved him off: "Got it, got it, we won’t lose your wife, now go."
Shane Warner glared at Phoebe King: "You especially, behave yourself."
Audrey watched Shane Warner drive off, waving as his car left the yard. Seraphina Vaughn, leaning casually by the door, said: "Aren’t you afraid your husband, all dressed up, will et another woman outside?"
Audrey laughed: "He’s handso with or without the effort."
Phoebe King teased her too: "And he wore cologne, who does he think is going to sll it?"
Audrey rolled her eyes at them: "For to sll when he cos back!"
Phoebe King: "Look at you, so inexperienced."
Seraphina Vaughn: "Shall we continue?"
Audrey: "Hungry yet? If you are, I’ll cook first, then we can play after dinner."
Phoebe King: "Not hungry, not hungry, let’s keep playing. I’m bound to change my luck; I just got a pair of jokers! Now it’s my turn to win against you two!"
