The commotion didn’t affect the excitent of the birthday party.
A group of people were chatting and laughing, playing until eleven o’clock before they were ready to call it a night and head ho.
Usually, at this ti, Audrey Sutton would already be asleep, but tonight, with everyone around, she didn’t feel tired. However, Shane Warner knew that once she got in the car, she would definitely fall asleep.
The designated drivers went to the parking lot to retrieve the cars, while the others waited at the entrance of the bar.
Audrey Sutton lent her little jacket to Barry Barrett, who was shivering and didn’t have a boyfriend, and she herself wrapped up in Shane Warner’s coat, waiting for Shane to bring the car over to pick her up.
While chatting with her girlfriends, Audrey noticed Evan Sutton standing alone by the roadside.
He had seed distracted all night. Although he wasn’t talkative usually and didn’t make much of an impression even at gatherings, today’s silence felt different, as if he had sothing weighing on his mind.
Audrey knew that her fifth brother was more sensitive than her other brothers and worried that he might be facing so trouble, so she quietly moved over to Evan and asked, "Fifth brother? What are you thinking about?"
Evan Sutton snapped back to reality, looked down at Audrey, and smiled, "What’s up?"
Audrey directly said, "It feels like you have sothing on your mind."
Evan smiled slightly and explained, "No, it’s just been a long ti since I’ve stayed out this late, feeling a bit tired."
Audrey laughed, "Fifth brother, why do you always act like an old man? You’re only in your early twenties, you should go out more often."
Evan watched the smile on Audrey’s face, smiling faintly, his eyes filled with complex emotions hard to decipher.
"Evan, my friend is here to pick up, I’ll get going now."
As the voice reached her ears, Audrey glimpsed soone tapping Evan’s shoulder out of the corner of her eye and was startled.
At first glance, she thought it was Lan Irving, only to realize it was Catherine Porter, who looked very much like him.
But her fifth brother had always said they weren’t close, so why did it seem like Catherine was pretty familiar with him now?
Evan said nothing, as Catherine stood on the other side of him, their eyes briefly eting with Audrey’s, before she said, "Thank you for inviting today, I had a wonderful ti."
Evan frowned slightly, but in front of Audrey, he didn’t dare to argue with Catherine.
Catherine continued her self-directed scene, saying, "I have work tomorrow, Evan, you should rest early too."
Saying this, a black sedan stopped in front of them, and Catherine, stepping in her heels, opened the car door and got in.
Audrey tilted her head to get a look inside, noticing the driver was a young guy, unfamiliar, probably soone she hadn’t t before.
Watching the car drive away, Audrey then turned to take a glance at Evan’s face, sensing sothing was off.
Her fifth brother was usually gentle, and in such situations, he would have sowhat politely responded. But after eting Catherine, he had remained frowning all along.
Audrey hesitated, trying to find the right words to question Evan, when Shane Warner’s car arrived in front of her.
After waving goodbye to her family from the car, Audrey rolled up the window and pouted, saying to Shane, "I saw that woman who looks like Lan Irving again, sothing just feels off."
Shane’s hand on the steering wheel paused, "Did she approach you?"
Audrey shook her head, "But she just went to my fifth brother, it seems like she’s deliberately trying to get close to . Am I being paranoid?"
Shane pondered, feeling that so many coincidences might not be coincidences at all.
Who exactly is this mysterious woman? Even Faye Xavier couldn’t find any information on her; her identity seems quite mysterious.
After a few minutes of driving, Audrey noticed they weren’t going ho, "Where are we going?"
Shane replied, "To pick up the mischief-maker."
Audrey hadn’t realized until the car stopped in front of the police station, and then she rembered the boy with braces causing trouble at the bar today.
"Just wait in the car for ."
Before Audrey could react, Shane lowered her window halfway, got out, and walked straight into the station.
Leaning by the window, Audrey watched his back, feeling exhausted on his behalf.
Though she had heard from Helen Holloway about Heath Holloway, and knew he wasn’t a well-behaved person, today was the first ti she fully realized how much trouble he could cause.
If he really went to work with Shane in the future, who knows what trouble he might stir up.
Audrey suddenly found, when Shane worried about her issues, she didn’t feel much about it.
Now, with this kid causing Shane extra concern, she felt sohow that her affection was being divided.
Not wanting Shane to stress over these things he didn’t have to deal with.
Just hoping this kid behaves in the future, or else, even if Shane doesn’t deal with him, as his sister-in-law, she’ll have to give him a piece of her mind.
A short while later, she saw Shane leading Heath out of the station.
The arrogance from before in the bar vanished in front of Shane, Heath just kept chatting with him cheerfully, while Shane kept a stern face as he walked towards the car.
Shane walked around the car to the driver’s side, while Heath went straight for the front passenger seat.
Audrey and Heath were both stunned. As Shane got into the driver’s seat, he coldly said, "You have the nerve to sit in the front seat? Get in the trunk."
Heath smiled appeasingly, shut the door reluctantly, and sat in the backseat, "Cousin, I know I was wrong, how could you ask to get in the trunk?"
Shane didn’t respond and started the car.
Heath stretched his neck, observing Audrey, and Audrey occasionally gave Heath a side-eye through the mirror. After watching him hesitate a few tis, she said, "Sister-in-law, today was a misunderstanding, please don’t hold it against ."
Audrey glanced at Heath, then at Shane, and seeing Shane remaining silent, she also kept quiet.
Heath paused for a while, then asked, "Sister-in-law, you weren’t hurt, right?"
Audrey looked at Heath again, still silent, not showing him any special friendliness.
Heath foolishly grinned, "Sister-in-law, you’re really pretty, how old are you? You look so young, cousin looks like your uncle."
Hearing this, Audrey felt a chill on his behalf, then saw Shane’s face visibly darken several shades.
Yet Heath seed entirely unaware, continuing to babble on without needing a response, "Cousin, can I start going to work at the company in a few days? I’ve got so things to take care of."
