Now reading: Chapter 582: You’ve Already Comforted Me from Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!, a Romance novel by The Beginning of Prosperity.

After Shane Warner’s silence, Wallace Warner looked unfocused at the white ceiling above, explaining the reason behind everything that happened: "At the family banquet that day, your grandfather suddenly ntioned wanting to pass the company on to Sean and Vincent Warner jointly after they graduate."

"But before this, he always said both internally and externally that everything in The Warner would be handed over fully to Sean."

"We worked so hard to groom Sean, and just when he was about to take over, soone suddenly appeared wanting a share. I knew Sean’s nature to avoid conflict and competition, fearing that Vincent Warner might take the main position in the future, or even push Sean aside, so..."

Shane Warner continued where he left off: "So you had soone tamper with Vincent Warner’s car, intending to get rid of him, but didn’t expect your own son would be the one in the car."

Wallace Warner took a deep breath, his upward-looking eyes gradually turning bloodshot and moist.

Shane Warner closed his eyes and took a deep breath, montarily unsure of what emotions to use to face Wallace Warner.

Anger? Hatred? Sympathy? Pity?

Such a truth was undoubtedly cruel to him.

"It’s just as well..." Wallace Warner’s voice choked slightly, "it’s just as well that it’s been found out, otherwise I wouldn’t know how to face Sean if I went down."

"This life, father has let you two brothers down... I have not been a competent father."

Deep down, Shane Warner had already held resentnt towards Wallace Warner. Since childhood, he’d used them both as tools for competing over the family fortune, only caring about whether they were excellent enough, smarter and more capable than kids of the sa age, never truly caring if they were overwheld by such pressure.

He never thought about what a father-son relationship should be, nor whether there should be so affection involved.

He simply told them what they should be, commanding them with a father’s authority on what they should do, letting them understand that as their father, they should follow his arrangents and beco what he wanted.

So now, upon discovering all of this truth, Shane Warner was even more unsure of what sentint to use to face his father.

Wallace Warner’s repentance at this mont was clearly a bit too late for Shane Warner.

Obviously, a single "I’m sorry" felt so insubstantial, unable to nd anything...

Helen Holloway pushed open the door and said, "The Griffin Family is still very loyal and righteous. I never expected him to co and see you, sir."

Shane Warner quickly composed his emotions, turned and said to Helen Holloway, "Mom, there’s sothing at the company, I need to go first."

Helen Holloway nodded: "Alright, go ahead, don’t worry, I’ll take care of the hospital here, but son, you still have to take care of your health, don’t overwork yourself, also take good care of Audrey, pregnancy can be tough, and won’s tempers might beco a bit strange, you should be more understanding; also, with temperatures dropping recently, rember to wear more clothes when going out."

Shane Warner responded briefly with a single word: "Mm."

After leaving the hospital, back in the car, Shane Warner didn’t start the vehicle imdiately.

Sitting in the car, the rain left irregular patterns on the car window glass, blurring the view outside.

Shane Warner habitually searched his coat pocket, only then rembering he hadn’t carried cigarettes since promising Audrey Sutton he’d quit smoking.

Early in the morning, Mor had already called him several tis; there were a lot of issues at work waiting for him to handle, yet at this mont, Shane Warner didn’t have the mood to deal with these matters; he had only one thought in mind: to return ho, back to Audrey Sutton’s side.

Originally, Audrey Sutton and the others planned to continue playing mahjong after lunch, but Flora Lane received a call from the company around one, saying there was an issue with the previous recording and asked her to co back for a re-recording.

Flora Lane left, and the mahjong ga couldn’t continue. Phoebe King was also called away by Stephen Sutton, leaving Seraphina Vaughn to help Audrey Sutton clean up the kitchen after the al before leaving.

Around 2 PM, Audrey Sutton opened her computer and had only drawn a few strokes when she heard the sound of a vehicle through the light rain outside.

She thought it was Phoebe King sneaking out to play with her again, or soone had left sothing behind.

Standing by the window, while looking out she realized it was Shane Warner’s car.

Coming back ho at this hour, Audrey Sutton found it a bit strange.

Feeling puzzled, she couldn’t wait to run downstairs.

She was just about to open the door when Shane Warner opened it from the outside.

"Why are you back? Are you here to surprise-inspect to see if I’m playing mahjong?"

To her surprise, Shane Warner didn’t answer but instead suddenly hugged her tightly.

Audrey Sutton was montarily dumbfounded by his unusual action; her hands froze for a mont before adjusting to his embrace by placing them behind his back. Looking up from his embrace, she asked softly with concern, "What’s wrong with you? You seed strange since coming back last night."

Shane Warner didn’t speak, only tightened his grip.

Audrey Sutton said nothing more either, simply held him quietly, a hint of worry floating between her brows.

After a while, until a noticeable cool breeze blew through the doorway, Shane Warner worried Audrey Sutton might catch a chill, finally loosening his hold, led her inside, and closed the door behind.

Audrey Sutton reached to take off his coat moistened by the light rain, hung it on the coat rack by the door, turned to him and asked, "Did sothing happen?"

Shane Warner shook his head and switched his shoes.

Standing beside him, Audrey Sutton said, "Didn’t we agree that we’re not supposed to hide anything from each other? Whatever it is, tell . I might not be able to help you much, but talking about your worries might make you feel better, and there’s another person to share the burden."

After switching shoes, Shane Warner gently touched Audrey Sutton’s head, smiled and said, "Even if I had troubles, how could I let you share them?"

Audrey Sutton frowned in dissatisfaction: "I’m your wife, who else would you tell if not ?"

Shane Warner: "I an, I can’t bear to let you share it."

Audrey Sutton was montarily stunned, feeling a bit touched but soon filled again with worry: "So you really are hiding sothing from . Tell —I’m good at comforting people."

Shane Warner laughed and walked into the house: "Alright, you’ve already comforted enough."

Just seeing her and holding her at that mont made Shane Warner feel much better inside.

Her existence made him feel like the world wasn’t entirely dark, her simplicity and purity allowing him to reevaluate his emotions.

But Audrey Sutton felt that Shane Warner was just brushing her off, so she persistently followed him, pestering him for answers: "Hurry up, tell what exactly is going on?"

Shane Warner slowed his pace, heading leisurely upstairs.

Audrey Sutton kept closely behind, activating her story-inventing imagination: "Did you perhaps do sothing outside that let down? That’s why you’re feeling guilty and conflicted, hence acting bizarrely?"
