Hearing Audrey Sutton’s remark, Shane just smiled.
The more Audrey thought about it, the more she felt the reason made sense: "You ca back late last night; were you out with another girl? You originally planned to spend the night, but then rembered , pregnant with your child, waiting at ho, so your conscience kicked in, and you ca back."
The more this reason made sense, Audrey followed behind Shane, mumbling, "No wonder you said you missed out of nowhere yesterday, sothing you never used to say. So it turns out you were cheating on !"
As she spun this tale, instead of finding her unreasonable, Shane was amused by her antics, lightening his mood considerably.
He stopped, turned to look at her, one corner of his mouth curved up, and asked playfully, "What do you an by ’after finishing business’?"
Audrey glared at him, embarrassed and annoyed, "Don’t you have a clue?!"
Shane watched Audrey’s frustrated and awkward expression with amusent and said, "This is the first ti I’ve seen soone finding ways to put a green hat on themselves."
Audrey argued confidently, "That’s the only way to explain why you’ve been acting so weirdly!"
Shane: "How is thinking of you weird?"
Audrey: "It’s just weird! You must have done sothing guilty!"
Shane reached out to hold Audrey’s wrist and continued upstairs, saying, "You used to push to say it, and now I say it, you overthink the reason."
Audrey: "It’s because you never said it before, so now it’s strange."
As soon as Audrey finished speaking, Shane’s phone rang in his pocket.
Seeing Shane take out his phone from his pocket, Audrey imdiately leaned over to see who was calling.
Seeing her second brother’s na, Audrey relaxed a little.
Before answering, Shane softly told Audrey, "Go find pajamas for to wear after showering later."
Obviously, Shane wanted to send her off before answering the call, and seeing it was Franklin Sutton calling, Audrey didn’t pester him further.
Shane didn’t deliberately avoid her, standing by the window, unbuttoning his suit while listening to the call.
Thinking Franklin might have found a lead on Harrison Griffin, Shane didn’t expect Franklin to say, "Co to the station to pick up your little cousin; he got caught up in a honey trap and keeps causing trouble."
Over the phone, Shane resisted the urge to curse Heath Holloway, simply saying, "Keep him for a while longer."
Then he hung up.
Audrey approached with clothes in hand and softly asked, "What did my brother want? Is there a new lead on your brother?"
Shane reached out to take the pajamas from Audrey’s arm, gently pinched her cheek, and said, "Curious about everything."
Audrey angrily slapped his hand away, "You don’t treat like your wife at all, keeping everything from !"
Shane chuckled, wanting to brush off her story-making, so he said, "Heath got in trouble again, your brother asked to pick him up."
Hearing this, Audrey said, "I told you he wasn’t any good! He causes trouble all the ti, you shouldn’t have hired him into the company."
"All my fault for not listening to my wife. Alright, continue painting while I take a shower."
Audrey mumbled, "Why shower in the middle of the day? What are you really doing outside that can’t be seen?"
Entering the bathroom, Shane said, "You’re relentless on accusing yourself; I got rained on, isn’t it normal to take a shower?"
Audrey turned towards her desk, gave a dismissive "hmph," and said, "Whatever, it’s not like the baby has a na yet, if you don’t behave, I won’t guarantee the baby will take your last na!"
Through the bathroom door, Shane joked, "Taking your surna is fine too."
Audrey: "Just be sensible and don’t let catch any slip-ups."
As water flowed in the bathroom, Audrey continued drawing while muttering under her breath, "n, n! Not a single decent one!"
Soon, Shane erged from the bathroom, and Audrey noticed he dried his hair and changed into outdoor clothes. She spun her chair to face him and asked, "Where are you off to now?"
Shane buttoned his shirt and said, "To pick up soone."
Audrey pondered montarily, and Shane, as if reading her mind, offered, "Wanna co along?"
Hearing this, Audrey felt he seed quite forthright, like soone unafraid of ghosts knocking, having nothing to hide.
But she thought again, many n use this fearless honesty to lower your guard and suspicion, while they’re indeed hiding sothing!
With this thought, Audrey set down her stylus, "Let change first."
Shane smiled, "Really suspecting ?"
Without concrete evidence, Audrey wouldn’t admit her suspicions, so she said, "No, just going along to pick up so things, shampoo and toothpaste at ho are almost out. Besides, I haven’t gone out in ages, can’t I get so fresh air?"
Shane nodded with a smile, "Sure, dress warmly, I’ll wait downstairs."
Audrey, naturally afraid of the cold, couldn’t dress like Clarissa Morgan in a little dress during the cold, so she bundled up in her warm jacket, easily covering her increasingly noticeable baby bump.
In the car, Audrey seed leisurely, listening to music, but she was actually observing, checking for traces of another woman.
After looking around, she pulled a long hair from the seat gap, imdiately questioning, "Explain yourself!"
Shane glanced at her coolly, driving steadily without haste, "Check the room, you’ll find more on the bed. Don’t you know how much hair you lose?"
Audrey frowned at the hair, compared it to hers, and found the length matched, and it curled like her style.
Checking again, she indeed found two or three more strands on her coat, matching in color.
And Shane seed unfazed, not like he was lying.
Audrey gave a "hmph," lowered her head, and checked around again.
Shane kept his eyes on the road, smiling indulgently, "If I did sothing to wrong you, would your brothers let off the hook?"
Considering this, Audrey found it logical; her second brother was a cop, and Shane being unfaithful would be easily exposed by him.
But sothing felt off; she frowned and asked Shane, "So you don’t care about and the baby, you behave because you fear my brothers?"
