Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing returned to the Zhang Family ho, and Zhang Zhentian said to Xia Jing, "Xia Jing, now that the child has been born, when are we going traveling?"

Xia Jing was also pondering this question. Before the birth of their child, she thought she could travel with Zhang Zhentian without any worries. But now, with the child born, she suddenly felt a reluctance to leave; after all, this was the child she had carried for a grueling ten months.

"Zhentian, I kind of don’t want to go traveling right now. Look at our child, who has just been born—I can’t bear to leave him behind and go traveling!" Xia Jing thought for a while and then spoke to Zhang Zhentian.

Zhang Zhentian hadn’t expected Xia Jing to suddenly lose interest in traveling.

"Xia Jing, if you feel that attached, then let’s wait until the child turns one before we go, okay?" Zhang Zhentian’s suggestion was well received, and without much hesitation, Xia Jing agreed.

"Okay, it’s settled then, we’ll go as soon as the child turns one!"

The couple solidified their travel plans, yet they were unaware that this very decision would ultimately lead to their being chased out of the family ho by Old Master Zhang. Had they known the consequences, would they still have made such an impulsive decision?

Old Master Zhang, currently not willing to involve himself in anything else, was contentedly holding his grandson on the sofa, a look of complete adoration on his face; his heart was truly filled with joy.

In the following month, Xia Jing led a very comfortable life. Old Master Zhang took care of the baby every day, leaving Xia Jing with hardly any ti with the child apart from when he was hungry.

Zhang Zhentian cooked delicious food for Xia Jing every day and took care of her, fearing that she might feel any discomfort.

Li Jiayuan was not so comfortable though. Her unease was not due to Li Haixiao’s lack of care but because Xiao Wei was not by her side. Her postpartum confinent was almost over, yet Xiao Wei still had not returned, causing Li Jiayuan’s heart to ache!

Li Jiayuan thought about how during her confinent, aside from caring for the baby, her father had also looked after her. The thought made her heart hurt—had she not treated Xiao Wei the way she did before, he wouldn’t have left for the United States alone, and she wouldn’t have spent the year missing him every single mont. She was genuinely scared, for if Xiao Wei were to leave and never co back, what would she do? What about their child?

Xiao Wei had originally planned to return three days after Li Jiayuan’s delivery, but an unexpected issue with his company prevented him from doing so. He wanted to settle all the company matters before returning so he could spend more ti with his wife and child. He hadn’t anticipated that this delay would last a month.

During that month, Xiao Wei missed Li Jiayuan as much as she missed him, but he was in a bind. If he couldn’t manage the matters in the United States properly, even if he returned to China, he would only stay for a few short days. He didn’t want to make a long-awaited return only to have such a brief stay at ho.

A month later, the United States—

"Ah Shun, go book a ticket for to return ho, the sooner the better!" Xiao Wei said to Ah Shun.

"Alright, Brother Xiao Wei, I’ll book it right now!" Ah Shun replied to Xiao Wei.

Xiao Wei’s company in the United States was growing more substantial. Just a few months ago, Li Corporation almost had Li Haixiao dragged to court over his misuse of company funds. In the end, Xiao Wei asked Ah Shun to step in and filled the financial gap in Li Corporation, even acquiring a stake in it. At that ti, Li Haixiao thought that it was heaven-sent that a major Arican company had co to save Li Corporation. Little did he know that the boss behind this Arican powerhouse was his son-in-law, whom he had once looked down upon—had he known, one could only wonder what he’d have felt.

A quarter of an hour later, Ah Shun approached Xiao Wei: "Brother Xiao Wei, I’ve booked the ticket. When do you plan to co back to the United States after this trip?"

Xiao Wei thought for a mont and then said to Ah Shun, "I probably won’t be coming back for a while. I’ll leave things here in your hands—I trust you can handle it. You better not let down!"

Ah Shun knew that Xiao Wei was placing great trust in him, and he was delighted with the opportunity. Having worked alongside Xiao Wei for many years, if he claid to be the third person who knew Xiao Wei best, nobody would dare to claim second place—the first was certainly Xia Jing. He knew what Xiao Wei’s heart yearned for; despite cutting off all contacts with China over the past year, he knew Xiao Wei would always stealthily check his email, hoping for a ssage from Li Jiayuan. Yet, the result was always disappointing.

"Xiao Wei, when you get back, have a good talk with your sister-in-law," Ah Shun promised Xiao Wei. "By my calculations, she should have already given birth by now, and she really needs you by her side at this ti. As for things here in the United States, rest assured, I will definitely not let you down!"

Xiao Wei felt very comforted after hearing this. Having a brother like this was more than enough!

Patting Ah Shun on the shoulder, Xiao Wei turned and took a car to the airport.

A day later, Xiao Wei finally returned to his ho country. Looking at all the familiar sights, he couldn’t help feeling excited. It had been a year, and he had finally co back to this place again. He wondered how Elder Sister Xia, Zhang Zhentian, and most of all, his dearly missed Jiayuan, were doing...

After coming back, Xiao Wei didn’t go directly to look for Li Jiayuan, but instead called Xia Jing first.

"Hello, may I ask who’s calling?" Xia Jing’s voice reached Xiao Wei’s ears, and he almost cried. After an entire year, he was finally hearing his sister’s voice again.

"Elder Sister Xia, it’s , Xiao Wei. How have you been?" Xiao Wei tried to calm his emotions before speaking to Xia Jing.

Xia Jing was stunned. What? Xiao Wei called her? It couldn’t be a hallucination, could it? Xia Jing found it hard to believe that Xiao Wei was really calling her. They had lost contact for an entire year; why would he suddenly call her?

"Is it really you, Xiao Wei?" Xia Jing asked with so skepticism.

"Elder Sister Xia, it’s really , Xiao Wei. I’ve made you worry over the past year. Can I see you?" Xiao Wei asked.

"Of course, let’s et at our usual place!"

So it was settled. Xia Jing happily decided on a place to et. She was now able to go out since her child was already a month old. She felt that indeed, she should go out and have a look around.

Star Coffee Shop!

"Elder Sister Xia, you’ve arrived, please sit!"

"Xiao Wei, it is really you. What have you been doing this whole year? Why didn’t you get in touch with us? Do you know how worried I was?" Xia Jing was overjoyed to see that it was indeed Xiao Wei.

Xiao Wei smiled awkwardly and said to Xia Jing, "Elder Sister Xia, I spent a year setting up a company in the United States. The reason I didn’t contact you during this ti was because I was afraid you’d tell Jiayuan I was in touch, so please don’t mind. Why didn’t you bring out my little nephew to let see him today?"

"Little nephew, indeed. I hardly get to hold him myself; Zhentian’s father is always holding the baby. Zhentian and I hardly ever get a chance to hold him. When you have ti, you can co over and see him!" Xia Jing said to Xiao Wei, "Xiao Wei, do you know Jiayuan has given birth?"

Xiao Wei nodded and replied, "But I wasn’t there by her side, she probably hates a little for it!"

"How can you say such a thing? Do you know that Jiayuan misses you every day and really hopes you could co back and be by her side? By my calculations, her confinent is nearly over; you should go see her. She’ll be so happy to see you!"

After hearing Xia Jing’s words, Xiao Wei felt that he really should go to see Li Jiayuan. He picked up his coat and walked out, while Xia Jing just shook her head and said nothing.
