"Okay." Sumr Shawcross smiled and nodded, waiting for the little boy to leave before she looked again at the box in her hand, and then took it into the hotel.
Soon, Sumr returned to her hotel room.
Jessica reminded her to rest early and then turned to leave.
The room was left with only Sumr Shawcross.
She glanced at the box she had just placed on the desk and recalled the words of the little boy earlier, then raised her hand to turn off all the lights in the room, leaving only a wall lamp on.
Just as she was about to open the box to see how beautiful the things inside it were, a sudden phone ringtone startled her.
Sumr Shawcross paused for a mont, then quickly turned around, took the phone out from the small bag by her bedside.
It was a call from Noah Drexler.
She hurriedly swiped the screen to answer it.
"Hello?"
"Did you arrive at the hotel?" The man’s deep voice ca through the phone.
"Yeah, just got here." She nodded lightly, answering softly.
After she finished speaking, there was a mont of silence on the other end of the phone before the man’s displeased inquiry sounded.
"Why didn’t you call when you arrived in City A?"
She had reached her destination and didn’t think to call him?
"Did you not already know..." Sumr hesitated. His bodyguards were with her, so he should be well-inford of her situation, which is why she felt there was no need to call him.
But no sooner had she finished speaking than there was silence again on the other end...
Sumr paused, holding the phone. Had she said sothing wrong again?
Just as she was about to ask, the man’s restrained, displeased voice echoed again on the phone.
"Sumr Shawcross, do you just not want to call ?"
...
anwhile, in the office, Noah Drexler sat in his chair, his handso face cast in a shadow.
When the bodyguard inford him that Sumr had arrived, he assud she would at least have the decency to call him.
But... as the day turned to night, her call still hadn’t arrived.
In the end, it was only his impatience that led him to dial her number!
Thinking of this, the man’s expression grew even darker.
Not long ago, she said she wanted to always stay by his side, and now she didn’t even want to make a call?!
...
Listening to the man’s voice over the phone, Sumr was taken aback.
Was he... angry? Because she didn’t call him?
Two seconds later, she snapped back to herself and quickly opened her mouth to explain.
"I was actually just about to call when you called..." Saying this, her expression turned slightly guilty, unable to admit she had forgotten to call him.
"Sumr Shawcross, you expect to believe that crap?!" The man’s contemptuous cold snort ca through.
Sumr’s face froze for a mont, a guilty cough escaped her lips, and then she hurriedly tried to change the subject.
"Hey, it’s pretty late, have you eaten yet?"
"..." The other end of the phone was silent, showing no intention to respond to her.
Even though he said nothing, Sumr could still feel his anger...
Her expression turned embarrassed, and with a helpless sigh, she thickened her skin and continued.
"You’ve just recovered, rember to eat on ti, don’t go hungry."
After she finished speaking, the phone went silent for two seconds before the man’s deep voice ca through.
"I’ll eat later."
