A loud bang...
Sumr Shawcross dropped both the box and the phone from her hands in fright, collapsing to the floor with legs like jelly.
Her already fair face was now deathly pale, drained of any color, filled with an expression of terror...
She clutched her chest with one hand, trying hard to steady her breath.
After a long while, she slowly turned her head again, her face still etched with horror, looking back at the box she had thrown away.
A bloody severed hand had already fallen out of the box.
Sumr’s heart tightened once more, and she quickly covered her mouth, still shaken.
She could never have imagined that the box would contain sothing so frightening!
If she had a heart condition, she thought she would have been done for by now...
Just as Sumr was still in shock, soone suddenly knocked on the door from outside.
"Ma’am! Ma’am?" ca the urgent voice of the guards from outside.
Sumr paused for a mont, just about to get up to open the door when she heard a loud bang!

—Crash!

The tightly shut door was violently kicked open from the outside.
Sumr was stunned, another shock visible on her face...
"Ma’am, are you okay?" Several guards hurriedly rushed in from outside, asking Sumr with tense expressions.
Seeing Sumr sitting on the floor unscathed, the guards finally let out a temporary sigh of relief.
Sumr looked up at the suddenly appearing group of guards, with a sowhat bewildered expression on her face.
She hadn’t expected that they would arrive so quickly after she barely managed to scream...
"I... I’m okay..." she mouthed, quickly responding.
As she spoke, one of the guards had already noticed the box on the ground, along with the ’bloody hand,’ and quickly went over, picking them up and examining them closely.
Seeing the guard’s action, Sumr was once again startled, just about to say sothing when the guard’s voice spoke up.
"Ma’am, this hand is fake!"
"Fake?" At these words, Sumr’s pale face shifted once more.
The bloody hand she had just glimpsed indeed seed real.
Moreover, she could have sworn she slled the scent of blood.
"Yes, Ma’am, it’s a very realistic imitation. If you don’t pick it up yourself, it’s hard to tell." The guard nodded and continued.
The fake hand was so realistically crafted—including the intricate details of the hand’s texture—that it’s not surprising it startled soone.
Listening to the guard’s words, Sumr’s nerves, so taut from fear, eased a little.
"So, that’s not blood?" she asked, still puzzled, as she distinctly rembered the bloody sll.
The guard looked down at the severed hand in his own hand, sniffed it again, and then spoke.
"It’s dye, but they’ve added so blood-scented essence. This prank toy is quite expensive, not sothing an average person could afford."
"I see..." With the guard’s explanation, Sumr breathed a long sigh of relief, realizing it was just a prank!
She couldn’t help but recall the ti she encountered that chubby kid at the hotel entrance, and there was a man chasing after him, calling him ’young master’... It seed he was from a wealthy family, so being able to afford such prank toys wasn’t surprising.
