Two days later.
In the past two days, Sumr Shawcross has been busy with Sean Shawcross’s funeral, and with Sean Morgan’s help, the preparations went smoothly.
It was set to be held the next day.
That day, Sumr Shawcross didn’t finish her tasks until evening. After two days of busyness, the heavy feeling in her chest, as if weighed down by a stone, finally showed signs of easing. Her reactions to her surroundings were no longer as slow as they had been two days before.
Additionally, with Noah Drexler always watching over her to make sure she took her dicine, her sense of taste was gradually recovering.
Everything seed to be moving in a positive direction.
At night, after her busy day, Sumr Shawcross took a shower and then lay down on the bed.
After turning off the light, she fell asleep in no ti.
...
In her dream, the image of Sean Shawcross falling, along with a deafening clap of thunder, suddenly reverberated!
Sumr Shawcross awoke with a start, and as she opened her eyes, a streak of lightning flashed, illuminating the room brightly before darkness returned.
Another earth-shaking clap of thunder followed imdiately!
Her heart tightened, and she glanced out the window to see it was raining heavily outside, with thunder and rain raging fiercely.
She rembered it had been years since such fierce weather had occurred in Narsus City.
The last ti this happened was shortly after The Shawcross Family went bankrupt. It was winter then, and the siblings were living in a rundown, leaky rental house. Her brother was holding various pots and bowls to catch the water leaking from the roof, while wrapping her warmly in all the blankets they owned, gently and softly comforting her, telling her not to worry or be afraid.
She had been afraid of thunder since she was a child. Whenever it thundered, her father would hold her in his arms, giving her a sense of security.
Sumr Shawcross took a deep breath and reached toward the bedside, pressing the switch for the bedroom light.
But after pressing the switch, the light did not co on.
A power outage?
Just as Sumr Shawcross was startled, another clap of thunder rang out...
...
At this mont, in the guest room next door.
The man leaned against the bed, staying awake all night, with a cold expression listening to the sounds of the rain and thunder outside. His brows furrowed as he glanced toward the door, feeling sowhat worried whether she had been woken up.
He thought several tis about getting up to check on the room next door but resisted that impulse each ti!
Because he had promised her, giving her three days of peace, and he had always been true to his word, never breaking a promise!
A clap of thunder suddenly bood again.
The man’s expression froze montarily, and an image of that woman curled up in bed flashed involuntarily in his mind, his handso face paled slightly.
In the next second, he finally turned over, got out of bed, and strode out of the bedroom.
He stopped at the door, just raised his hand to open it, when a petite figure threw itself into his arms without hesitation.
He instantly recognized the woman in his arms, his body stiffening abruptly!
In the darkness, his exceptionally handso face showed a hint of surprise.
"Noah Drexler..." a soft voice ca from within his embrace.
Hearing her delicate voice, he couldn’t help but extend his hands, wrapping them around her waist and pulling her even closer.
The temperature from her body was slightly cool, causing him to frown slightly.
