"Exactly, you even falsely accused Dingdang Dog of wrongdoing, wronging a good dog. That’s simply a heinous cri."
Li Xiaoli nodded repeatedly, echoing from the side.
"Calm down, calm down."
With things having co to this point, Tang Ming couldn’t pretend anymore. He thought to himself miserably that living day to day stealing food was no easy life either, and it might be for the best if the two won knew the truth.
"Tell us, what exactly is going on?"
Liu ngting looked at Tang Ming coldly, "Even if you don’t want to be my bodyguard, there’s no need to lie to . I’m not so shaless as to insist on sticking to you."
"That’s not what I ant at all." Tang Ming quickly shook his head and explained:
"The main reason I concealed my cultivation was to confuse those enemies of mine, not to target you."
"Do you think by telling us the truth, we would betray you?"
Hearing this, Liu ngting grew even more upset.
"I didn’t an that, I was afraid you might accidentally reveal it... I’m wrong, isn’t that enough?" Seeing that the two won would not let him off the hook, Tang Ming said pitifully:
"Do you think I have it easy? These days, I can’t get enough to eat every day and have to wait until nightfall to steal food. When have I ever been so miserable?"
"You’re still playing the victim? It’s your own fault for not coming clean." Liu ngting said resentfully.
"I did it to keep you safe. The Flying Wolf Organization has been quiet, but who knows when they will make a move? By pretending to have no cultivation, they’ll let their guard down, and I might have a chance to take them all down at once."
Tang Ming said with a pained expression and a sense of grievance, "Otherwise, faced with their endless assassinations, when will it ever end?"
"ng ng sister, hearing what Tang Ming brother says, it seems like he was actually considering your welfare." Li Xiaoli nudged Liu ngting, speaking with sympathy:
"Given Tang Ming brother’s appetite, eating so little in front of us, he really does seem pitiful."
"Whose side are you on, exactly?" Liu ngting glared fiercely at Li Xiaoli.
"Of course, I’m on ng ng sister’s side, but Tang Ming brother is in the wrong here." Li Xiaoli chose to support Liu ngting without hesitation.
"The one who should feel aggrieved is , so what do you want now?" Tang Ming asked, looking helplessly.
"You still feel aggrieved? Have you ever thought about Dingdang Dog, who’s been carrying the bla for you? I’ve hit it so many tis already."
Liu ngting said through gritted teeth:
"Tomorrow, you’d better apologize to Dingdang Dog properly and compensate and Xiaoli for our emotional distress, got it?"
"Got it." Tang Ming nodded repeatedly, willing to do whatever it took to appease the two ladies.
"And..." Liu ngting paused, then asked sternly:
"Does Xia Wei’er know about your cultivation recovery?"
"She doesn’t." Tang Ming shook his head decisively, jesting that if they knew he had told Xia Wei’er first, he might as well not sleep tonight.
"That’s more like it." Liu ngting’s expression eased a bit, and she asked tenderly:
"Have you been starving these past days? Are you still hungry now?"
"Hungry." Tang Ming rubbed his stomach. Having barely eaten before being caught today, he was nearly starving to death.
"Hmph, serves you right."
Liu ngting snorted coldly and turned to walk out.
"ng ng sister, where are you going?" Li Xiaoli quickly turned and asked.
"I’m hungry too. Since we have tomorrow off, let’s go out for a midnight snack."
Liu ngting called out without turning back.
"Hehe, Tang Ming brother, you really shouldn’t have deceived ng ng sister and . Look how much concern ng ng sister has for you."
Li Xiaoli sighed and gave Tang Ming a blaming look before she too left.
"Seems like I went too far, huh."
Tang Ming offered an awkward smile; he actually was feeling a bit of regret for deceiving Liu ngting and Li Xiaoli back then, but right now, filling his stomach was the priority!
In the wee hours, Tang Ming drove the two won out of Binjiang District to grab so late-night snacks.
Although the nightlife in Songlan City was vibrant, most shops were closed at this hour. After searching for a while, they could only settle for so barbecue skewers at a street stall.
No sooner had they sat down than Tang Ming eagerly called over the waiter to order a heap of items.
"It’s a bit cold."
In the late autumn season, Liu ngting, wearing a red trench coat, tightened her clothes. If it were not for accompanying Tang Ming for food, she would not have co out to endure the cold.
"You’ll warm up once we eat sothing."
Tang Ming, mouth watering, said carelessly.
"Hmph," Liu ngting sniffed and leaned closer to Li Xiaoli.
"ng ng sister, why do I feel like the people here eating are not good folks?" Li Xiaoli looked around warily, observing the other patrons who were either drunkenly dazed or eyeing them with ill intent.
"At this ti of night, good people are all asleep. Those who are still wandering around are either just out from a nightclub, or about to start on the next thing, what good people can they be."
Tang Ming, eyeing the food on the grill, explained nonchalantly.
"In the future, stop pretending in front of us, just eat however you like, and don’t go out late at night again, it’s not safe."
Liu ngting warned seriously.
"Alright, alright," Tang Ming nodded repeatedly.
"Hey bro, lucky you, having two ladies with you. Share one with your brother, will ya?"
While waiting for the food, three youths in jackets from the next table ca over. They had hung out in the club for so long and had never seen beauties like Liu ngting and Li Xiaoli, so they decided to co over and hit on them, encouraged by the alcohol.
"Scram, don’t spoil my mood for eating," said Tang Ming coldly.
"Heh, kid, quite a temper you’ve got there. Looking at your car, it seems nice, these two must be girls you’ve ’kept’, right? How about you share one with , I’ll pay double," said a bald youth with a gold chain, sleazily stroking his bald head.
"Looking for trouble!"
Tang Ming’s face turned dark as he was about to stand up.
"Told you to scram, didn’t you hear?"
Before Tang Ming could act, Li Xiaoli was the first to yell out in anger.
"Wow, didn’t expect this chick to not only have a nice rack but also a big temper," the ruffians laughed out loud, and then they actually pulled out daggers from their waistbands, "We’ve been in this ga for a while, nobody dares to disrespect us, tonight we’re definitely taking you."
"I prefer the one in red, looks so classy, must be a real thrill to play with," another thug leered at Liu ngting.
"Smack!"
As the bald man finished speaking, Li Xiaoli slapped the table, and sneered, "Know what this is?"
Seeing what was in Li Xiaoli’s hand, the bald man’s face turned pale, and the other ruffians were frightened into stepping back.
"A gun? A gun?"
The bald man swallowed nervously, looked at the weapon in his own hand, then at the gun in Li Xiaoli’s hand, and his legs started trembling.
