"I encountered this organization in North Africa; they’re extrely thorny, and their asking price is sky-high. Even if the entire Liu Group was sold, I reckon it still wouldn’t be enough to cover their fees for a few assignnts, right?"
Tang Ming was well aware of the Gray Wolf Organization’s background. They typically assassinated military faction leaders or helped so international conglorates take out business rivals and steal secret data. Each job’s commission was at least ten million, and in US dollars, no less.
The assets of the Liu Group were just a few billion yuan, and its business rivals were definitely on the sa level. If there really were competitors several levels above the Liu Group, there would be no need for them to engage in such gas, much less hire an assassin organization; a massive financial acquisition would settle the matter.
So, as for what Liu Gaoze ntioned about business competition rivals, Tang Ming simply didn’t believe it at all. His eyes glead with a smile as he looked at Liu Gaoze, hoping the uncle would speak the truth to him and reveal what secrets were hidden within.
Monts later, Liu Gaoze sighed dejectedly, then began, "Tang Ming, it’s okay to tell you. Initially, I didn’t want to get you too involved, fearing it would be detrintal to you. It’s alright to let you in on the matter, but you must keep it a secret, especially from ng Ting."
"Uncle, rest assured, my lips are sealed. I’m clear on what should and shouldn’t be said," Tang Ming assured with a sober expression, dropping his smile.
"That’s good; I trust you. In fact, our Liu Family’s main business is in electronic high-tech, like manufacturing OEMs for computer motherboards, graphics cards, and tablets as well as so real estate and hotel industries."
Liu Gaoze stood up, pacing back and forth a few steps before continuing, "But in reality, all of these are just a front. Our Liu Family is tied to the military industry. We have a secret technology lab working on cutting-edge technologies... Are you aware of an organization called ’Dark Group’?"
"Yes."
Tang Ming nodded. He certainly knew of Dark Group; he had worked with them before, and Lin Canghai from there held a rather high position.
"You really know?"
Liu Gaoze imdiately beca curious as not many were aware of Dark Group. Moreover, many who did know only referred to Dark Group mbers as special agents, unaware of the na Dark Group itself.
"I really know."
Tang Ming nodded and replied with a bitter smile. Not only did he know them, but Lin Canghai had also repeatedly invited him to join, which he had never heeded.
"Good to know. In fact, I am a peripheral mber of Dark Group. Outwardly, I’m a businessman, but in secret, I’m actually the head of the Dark Group’s third scientific research team."
Liu Gaoze looked at Tang Ming and said, "Now you understand why soone would harm ng Ting, intending to kidnap her, right?"
"They want to kidnap ng Ting and then threaten you to acquire the research data?"
Tang Ming instantly grasped the crux of the matter and raised his head to ask.
"Correct, that’s roughly the idea," Liu Gaoze sighed as he spoke.
"But my identity is classified; I can’t reveal it easily. I don’t trust ordinary bodyguards, and Dark Group agents are just too conspicuous, so I had you protect ng Ting in secret."
"Is it that troubleso?"
Tang Ming suddenly looked at Liu Gaoze with dissatisfaction in his eyes, "Uncle Liu, you really put in a tight spot. Such a dangerous job, and only paying fifty thousand a month. You have no idea how formidable the Gray Wolf Organization is. This task is not just dangerous, it’s exceptionally so. I don’t even want to do it anymore."
"Not doing it anymore?"
Liu Gaoze jumped in shock and imdiately stood up, "That won’t do. ng Ting is your fiancée; it’s your duty to protect her."
"Actually, I ca to Songlan City with the intention of breaking off the engagent, only to be roped into being a bodyguard because of your old fox tricks," Tang Ming said unmoved.
"Don’t try to use this as an opportunity to ask for more money. Although I’m the chairman of the group, most of the money I make is actually invested in technology developnt. If you really asked for a lot of money, I wouldn’t have it," Liu Gaoze saw through Tang Ming’s eyes that the young man’s intention to quit being a bodyguard was false, but his attempt to raise his price was genuine.
"Anyway, you and ng Ting are engaged, so it’s only right for you to protect her," Liu Gaoze sat down and said with a smile.
"Alright, I’ll take it on the chin," Tang Ming conceded, then asked further, "By the way, aren’t the identities of you Dark Group people quite powerful? Last ti at the police station, you used your status to bail out. There shouldn’t be any problems, right?"
"My identity needs to be highly confidential, and I’m just a peripheral mber of the Dark Group, so I generally can’t reveal my identity recklessly,"
Liu Gaoze frowned, speaking with a hint of unspeakable distress.
"Peripheral mber?"
Tang Ming thought for a mont. It seed that the Dark Group indeed had distinctions between internal and external mbers, so he casually asked,
"Then why don’t you beco an internal mber? Wouldn’t you have more power that way?"
"I wish I could, but it’s just too difficult."
Whenever Liu Gaoze talked about becoming an internal mber, his face filled with gloom; he had been rejected ti and ti again over the years, and talking about entering the inner circle was a sore subject for him.
"Looking at you, you really want to get into the inner circle that badly. What’s so good about being an internal mber anyway?"
Tang Ming asked curiously.
"There are quite a few benefits to being an internal mber. First, I would be an official mber of the Dark Group, and my identity could then be revealed within a small circle, like when going to bail you out! Second, I could get more support from the organization, having access to more connections and resources than peripheral mbers."
Liu Gaoze’s eyes were full of envy as he spoke.
"More support? Does that an you can have whatever you ask for?"
Tang Ming suddenly thought about his current need for a large quantity of Poison for cultivation, the deadlier the better. Such things were usually not easy to purchase on the outside, only these special organizations would be able to get them.
"That’s about right, as long as it’s not too outrageous, you can usually get the organization to look after you."
Liu Gaoze nodded in agreent.
"Can you get Poison?"
Tang Ming suddenly asked.
"Poison? What do you need that for?"
Liu Gaoze asked curiously. Tang Ming didn’t seem like soone who was up to no good, and besides, with his skills, why would he need Poison to deal with soone?
"Just tell , can you get it or not?"
Tang Ming thought if it was no problem, he would help Liu Gaoze with getting into the inner circle of the Dark Group. After all, with Lin Canghai around, it would be a waste not to make use of him.
"It shouldn’t be a problem, as long as it’s not so extrely rare Poison."
Liu Gaoze said frankly.
"That’s good then."
Tang Ming took out his phone and called Lin Canghai.
After a mont, the call connected, and Tang Ming said, "Lin Canghai, it’s Tang Ming."
"Oh, you’re actually reaching out to ? What’s up?"
Lin Canghai asked with great curiosity.
"Didn’t you say you have a lot of power within the Dark Group?
I need a favor from you," Tang Ming stated directly.
"What, you want to join the Dark Group? No problem, you would have a high rank right away, you might even be at the sa level as , and..."
Lin Canghai said, brimming with excitent.
Tang Ming quickly interrupted, "That’s enough, stop right there. There’s no way I’m going to join your Dark Group."
