"Otherwise, I don't think that person nad Nostragia would go against the etiquette of the party for no reason, just to provoke Faith."
Hearing Kain's words, Jamie couldn't help but feel tense.
It was hard to imagine soone being so daring, implenting a sche against other players even before the resource distribution ga began. What was scarier was that the mastermind succeeded.
"But how can you assert that the mastermind is from the Bethel Family? Didn't you say that..."
Jamie furrowed her brow and trailed off, then she froze.
And Kain continued her thought.
"That's right. Because almost all of the opponent's conspiracy involves indirect misdirection, and the truth can only be pieced together through arguntation and logic. Therefore, we can only determine whether the Bethel Family is truly the mastermind through two things."
"First, the opponent's only direct action, which is the provocation of Faith that was just discussed."
"Second, who truly benefits after this incident."
"And as you've already figured out yourself, Miss Jamie."
"On the surface, it looks like the Sword Family benefits the most when the representatives of other families are assassinated. But in the grand sche, if the Sword Family decided to do this, it would be unwise. Because in a multi-faction ga, they could face collective pressure."
"In a context where everyone thinks only the two major families would dare to act like this, when the Bethel Family is also on the list of victims, the accusation can only be pointed towards the Sword Family. And even if soone—which I think is bound to happen—thinks inversely and concludes that the Bethel Family is the real mastermind, they still cannot be faulted."
"After all, it is a fact that their representative was assassinated."
"The Bethel Family is the genuine beneficiary. Not only do they shift all the bla onto the Sword Family, but they also align themselves with the other families, forming an interest group against the Sword Family. And within this interest group, while all other families are equal, only the Bethel Family is 'more equal' than the others due to external influence."
"And the mastermind, after that unfortunate decoy is assassinated, will naturally assu the title of the Bethel Family's representative as a contingency plan, thereby participating in the ga."
"Don't you find this tactic quite brilliant?"
Upon hearing this, Jamie was utterly shocked.
This mastermind's plan utilized many intertwining elents, layer upon layer, making it difficult to distinguish. Even though all the logic connected, Jamie still felt like she was being led in circles.
Since when did the Bethel Family invite such a formidable representative?
Jamie glanced at Kain again, breathing a sigh of relief. Fortunately, her Egretta Family had also invited soone who was by no ans inferior.
"So what do we do now? By the looks of it, you don't intend to expose the Bethel Family."
"That's right. The opponent went to great lengths to arrange things to push the Sword Family into opposition with the other families, so the loss is the Sword Family's, not ours. I have also successfully concealed myself as a 'non-threatening' target after the assassination attempt. So the Egretta Family is not without benefits."
"Therefore, we just need to sit and wait until the ga begins."
Kain leaned back, saying calmly.
Hearing his firm affirmation, Jamie was completely reassured.
Returning to the room, ra imdiately slumped face down on the bed, looking exhausted.
Kain sat on the edge of the bed and spoke with a slight smile.
"Didn't you intend to present your deduction earlier? Tell the rest."
"What deduction is there to tell..." ra mumbled into the mattress, making the sound barely audible, as if she were sulking. Kain shook his head and laughed, reaching out to turn ra over, revealing her look of frustration.
"I was excited at first, but after hearing everything you said to Jamie, I'm not excited anymore."
She couldn't help but feel out of place compared to Kain.
Despite that, he didn't mind. Instead, he sat her up, then began massaging ra's neck and shoulders, causing her tense body to relax.
"If you just go to sleep like this, you'll likely have strained muscles tomorrow morning. Let give you a massage."
"I didn't know you could do massages." ra said, enjoying the comfort from Kain's hands.
"If you still want to hear my deduction, then..."
ra began to recall and present her thoughts. Kain listened quietly while kneading her muscles.
When he was little, soone in the village taught him this. Otherwise, with the heavy workload, the muscles in the body could easily beco stiff from fatigue, affecting daily life.
Besides, this was also a very good way to relax.
"Your line of deduction is very good, ra. But your ability to apply and connect data isn't quite right yet, as you still underestimate the importance of small details compared to the overall truth."
"Deduction, after all, is how we understand the aning through external symbols."
"You can understand it like painting a picture. If you've finished the picture but still have untouched paint, it ans your picture is incomplete no matter how perfect and beautiful it looks, and you have to find the aning of that leftover paint in your picture."
Hearing his instruction, ra nodded slightly, then casually lay back down on the bed.
"Kain, I'm going to sleep."
"Yes, sleep well."
Saying that, he gently kissed her forehead. ra smiled contentedly, closing her eyes and sinking into sleep.
The light in the room was extinguished, leaving only a faint lamp. In this dim light, Kain's golden pupils stood out and reflected like a cat's eyes in the dark, looking quite eerie.
At the sa ti, in a room within the Bethel Family's territory.
"Sir, here is the report on last night's assassination attempts."
Receiving a report from a servant, Cyrus rely glanced at it and tossed it aside. His plan had succeeded; this was just confirmation.
"No one detected my trap? Tsk, the quality of the participants is poor indeed."
Cyrus couldn't help but smile. Now, apart from Faith, there were probably no more obstacles.
This business deal with the Bethel Family was very important, tied to whether Cyrus could elevate his own family to beco the overlord of Pyce City, so he naturally wanted things to be as easy as possible.
But then, he looked at the report again, and his eyebrows furrowed.
"Kain? So it's that student?"
"Assassinated, but counter-killed the assassin. It's not too strange if he's the champion of the freshman tournant."
"But..."
Had Kain truly fallen into Cyrus's trap?
Cyrus couldn't help but fall into contemplation.
