Chapter 1605: 539. The first loyalty mission of the Weaver of Destiny was to play the role of the long-haired Princess_2

“Especially when you’re not strong enough yet.”

The Weaver of Destiny thoughtfully reminded:

“The sches of the Goat n and Baphot are no real secret in the Dark Mountain Range, but outsiders seldom have the chance to interfere with them. My advice is that you steer clear of it. Otherwise, the local Goatman Cultists might co to view you as their enemy.

They have served the Evil God for generations to aid its awakening. Baphot may have made so unknown promise to them, but in any case, these matters of the Divine Spirits are best left untouched. Maintaining neutrality is an important stance to take.

If you wouldn’t dare to blasphe within Avalon’s Sanctuary, then you shouldn’t think about delivering justice in Baphot’s temple either.”

“No, that’s not right. I know the Goat n have a ‘Abyss City’ sowhere deep within the Dark Mountain Range.”

Murphy furrowed his brows and said:

“Do those Goat n have any connection with the ones here?”

“Hmm, they’re a conservative bunch—a group of fools who stubbornly cling to tradition even during the Age of Chaos.

They realize Baphot is nothing good and try their utmost to stop their already wicked brethren from sliding into the embrace of the Evil God. However, those old-fashioned ones in Abyss City don’t even have a faith strong enough to counteract Baphot’s dark temptations.

The deity they allegedly worship—Verdia, the so-called ‘King of all curses’—never even responds to them.

It’s doubtful whether this so-called Divine Spirit even exists.”

Veylanther, being a native of the Dark Mountain Range, was well-versed in the rivalries of these other races. With just a few words, she managed to summarize the divide between the two factions of Goat n.

She spoke with undisguised disdain:

“The Goat n were born out of darkness, my master. Their hearts long to return to the shadows. My ntor once said that these Goat n are naturally evil beings.

They are all scoundrels with malice oozing from their souls. When so-called tradition fails to satisfy their dark desires, they’ll seek out similar substitutes elsewhere—even if Baphot were out of the picture.

For instance, in the Dark Mountain Range, tales of the ‘Lord of Darkness,’ said to eventually devour all light, are widely spread. Then there’s the Master of Hunting, worshiped madly by the Wolf People, and the ever-popular apocalyptic Dusk’s Demise cult that’s gained notoriety in recent years.

None of this is within the Goat n’s control.

The fools of Abyss City wish to pull their kin away from the brink of corruption, but to do so, they’d first need to beco even more wicked themselves.

That said, they do have one rit: they’ve never abandoned the idea of ‘saving’ their brethren’s souls. Near the Blackfla Mountain Pass, they even have a small outpost to observe the activities of the Baphot Cult.”

“Hmm, I’m aware of that outpost. I just want to know, if my warriors help the Goat n of Abyss City wipe out the cultists in Baphot’s Palace, would those old-fashioned elders be able to offer a decent reward?”

Murphy asked this question.

The inquiry left Veylanther montarily stunned. After the Weaver of Destiny repeatedly confird Murphy wasn’t joking, she replied hesitantly:

“Watching their brethren fall deeper into darkness for centuries has nearly driven Abyss City’s Goatn elders mad. They’ve even issued bounties to the Shadow Elves’ assassins. Unfortunately, the labyrinthine layout of Baphot’s Palace makes it incredibly challenging to navigate—even for Shadow Elf assassins. Thus, that order ultimately ca to naught.

However, my master, are you truly serious?

These Goat n seem evil on the surface, but they’re rely indulging in petty sches in the dark underground, occasionally kidnapping unfortunate victims from the surface. Compared to the other beings of the Dark Mountain Range, even the most vicious Goat n are practically saint-like goody-two-shoes.

As I ntioned earlier, there’s no need for you to wade into this ss.

It won’t help your ambitions, and it will only earn you a group of crazed marauders as enemies. Considering the looming Black Disaster, I would advise you to cherish the lives of your warriors.”

“You don’t understand, Veylanther. You don’t understand the Transia way of life, where a single day of inactivity would bore us to death. Back ho, we produce these ddling, battle-ready heroes in droves! Toss in so rewards, and my warriors would eagerly raid Baphot’s den every week.

After all, they simply can’t resist being such well-aning champions of justice.

But I don’t bla you. You’re just a farflung elf from the Eternal Abyss, so you’re bound to misunderstand our way of life.

No worries. Once you spend ti with my warriors, you’ll see for yourself that these Baphot Cultists aren’t even a real threat to them—they’re just extra ‘perks’ for my people outside of actual warfare.”

Murphy burst into laughter.

From his pocket, he retrieved an authorized Calculating Pearl, handing it to Veylanther as he said:

“The thods for interacting with my warriors, along with the content of the ‘Transia Civil Servant’s Code,’ are all detailed within. With your cunning and intellect, I’m sure you’ll quickly master how to negotiate with my warriors.

Since you’re now serving , I’ll give you this opportunity.

You will stay here!

Assign an elite escort mission to the first batch of lucky warriors you et, asking them to escort you out of Baphot’s Palace back to the Dark Valley to regroup with your followers.

A direct route would be too dull, so make sure the journey is challenging. Lead them around the vicinity and try to attract so Baphot Cultists for combat along the way, so they understand you’re an asset of importance.”
