"Bang"
The sweeping motion of the Split Claw Warhamr unleashed dazzling thunder, obliterating the blood bees lunging at Huggesen and simultaneously destroying a large area of Spiky Lichen about to explode within the reverberating thunder, incidentally tearing apart the wild roots descending from above attempting to feast. Three attacks were handled in an instant, fully demonstrating Huggesen’s ever-growing power and superb skill.
But there was not the slightest hint of pride on the face of the Grand Marshal; instead, caution was written all over its eyes.
Field Marshal Hass, following closely beside him, furrowed his brow even more. The unnaturally growing swamp ahead made him feel an extre and intangible malice clawing at them.
After consecutively sending two reconnaissance teams into the swamp and having them vanish without a trace, the Old Wolf Man sensed there was a problem. Realizing the severity of the issue during an on-site investigation, he imdiately conveyed this ssage to Huggesen, who happened to be leading an elite vanguard and was approaching the swamp, and God’s Chosen quickly rushed over. This was their seventh minute entering the Polluted Swamp, and they had been attacked...nine tis!
They hadn’t even traversed 500 ters yet, and all sorts of strange things kept appearing. Huggesen was even forced into a fight with a tree that threw stinky fruit, which fully proved the Polluted Swamp’s overwhelming predatory desire and ravenous hunger at this ti.
It was as if a green monster was opening its mouth wide in hunger, waiting for the ’Wolf People’ to willingly walk into its stomach.
"The power of this swamp is abnormal, God’s Chosen."
Field Marshal Hass gripped his War Halberd tightly, uncomfortably shifting his body. He glanced at the guards beside him, already beginning to look suspicious and paranoid. The wild Wolf People, despite rampaging across the Dark Mountain Range, had never encountered anything like this. Those strange creatures could definitely not have been born naturally; this was evidently a trap!
Crafted by the evil Transia people using so kind of dark magic, it was a defensive line ant to halt their advance, just like the tunnels they dug in Wasteland Mountain to impede the Black Disaster.
But compared to those tunnels that wouldn’t suddenly jump up and bite you, the swamp ahead was evidently more aggressive if you didn’t destroy sothing first, it would retaliate against you.
"They’ve vivified the swamp, but with the power of human Psychics, even with the addition of Avalon Church’s Druids, they couldn’t achieve this extent. The entire swamp has co alive in the most extre manner, beyond the capabilities of mortals,"
Huggesen leaned on his warhamr, scanning the surroundings. God’s Chosen’s senses warned him of omnipresent danger, with the most perilous alert coming from the crisscrossing water flows within the swamp.
He looked closely, discovering a few resting toads in the filthy water not far away.
Their bodies glimred with peculiar phosphorescence.
Instinct against danger warned him to stay as far away as possible from those seemingly inconspicuous toads.
"Divine power! Undoubtedly, after Gaia, Avalon has also intervened in this nearing-the-end Black Disaster in a despicable manner,"
Huggesen quickly reached a flawlessly correct assessnt.
But he and his deputy, Field Marshal Hass, knew that understanding the source of the swamp’s abnormality was aningless now; the important thing was to find a solution.
As it currently stood, sending regular Wolf People into the Polluted Swamp would only serve as a bonus al for these damn plants. If even skilled hunters couldn’t handle its complex and cruel ecosystem, then this godforsaken place was genuinely a green hell for ordinary clansn.
"Retreat; there’s nothing more to see here."
Huggesen decisively ordered a retreat, withdrawing with his guards and those of Field Marshal Hass. During the retreat, a vigilant guard suddenly spotted vines slithering like giant serpents through the mud and water from behind. He promptly drew his bow and arrow, shooting the treacherous Tangled Water Vine.
It was as if a giant serpent had been nailed to the ground, preventing it from hiding and advancing further.
Two Barbarian Soldiers imdiately stepped forward to hack it apart, releasing a green, pungent sap as the vine was torn to pieces. The scent made the Wolf People Warrior feel dizzy imdiately, retreating with shaky heads, one of whom spotted a tal-like object half-buried in the mud and water.
He thought it might be a relic left by the Transia people and, in his numbed state, bent down impulsively to try and pick it up.
"Don’t touch it!"
Field Marshal Hass’s reprimand ca just in ti, but the dizzy Wolf People reacted a tad slower; as he made contact with the tal shard, a blinding flash of fire erupted on the spot, soon followed by pained whimpers amidst the smoke.
The small explosive device clearly couldn’t kill a robust Wolf People Barbarian Soldier, but it ripped open his entire hand, turning the treacherous Butterfly Mines into a crippling weapon, reducing him from a formidable warrior to one unable to wield a weapon.
All of this occurred in an instant, so fast that nearby individuals couldn’t even help; the in-pain Barbarian rely lay there clutching his hand until a Hunting Priest ca forth to heal him.
Huggesen coldly observed the scene.
The explosion and its remarkable impact made him realize that these treacherous contraptions scattered across the swamp were not ant to kill. The Transia people specifically devised these non-lethal but easily producible devices to increase the number of wounded and disabled Wolf People, burdening their logistics while severely demoralizing them.
