"Your energy is finite. If you were just an ordinary seed, I wouldn’t mind teaching you, but if Chong Jingtian finds out a Core Seed is wasting ti here with learning ancient languages, he’d probably have my hide."

"I do have so interest in ancient languages," Su Chen said, but then his tone changed. "However, I did co here today because there’s sothing I’d like to ask you about."

"Ask sothing?" Sang Hanhai shot him a look. "You always talk in circles, kid. Just spit it out. What is it?"

"I have a few weapons that I’ve grown accustod to over a long ti," Su Chen began. "I wanted to ask if there’s so kind of profession that can upgrade them..." Feeling he wasn’t being specific enough, he quickly added, "I don’t an the conventional thod of slting materials and reforging..."

"I get what you an. You just want to upgrade a Tier One Weapon to Tier Two," Sang Hanhai said nonchalantly.

Su Chen froze. He had thought his request might be a bit strange, which was why he’d been beating around the bush. But hearing Sang Hanhai’s casual response, he couldn’t help but ask, "A profession like that exists?"

Sang Hanhai walked to the side, poured himself a cup of hot water, and began to sip it slowly. "Of course there is. And it’s not just for people like you who’ve grown attached to a particular weapon. Many professions are inherently designed to work in tandem with a specific weapon."

It dawned on Su Chen. He thought of Hu Xiang, who was a Fla Spear Master.

"A Soldier Nurturer..." Sang Hanhai didn’t beat around the bush, spitting out the na. "They’re not like conventional Weapon Masters, so they don’t need to learn all that stuff about materials, casting, and tempering."

"They gather the appropriate materials based on a weapon’s specific characteristics, then expend their Spiritual Power to induce a transformation."

At this, Sang Hanhai shook his head. "However, this kind of transformation consus far more materials than conventional forging."

"Furthermore, they can only nurture a few specific weapons and can’t forge new ones themselves. So Weapon Masters only bother nurturing Low Tier weapons when they’re trying to craft High-tier Weapons, using the process to find the optimal material composition."

"It doesn’t have many upsides, but it’s got plenty of downsides."

Su Chen’s eyes lit up. ’An old master is a treasure trove,’ he thought. He had assud this would be a tough problem to solve, but Sang Hanhai had offered a solution in just a few sentences.

’Isn’t this exactly the profession I need?’

"Want it?" The old man saw the craving in Su Chen’s eyes and teased, "Too bad you already used up your last exchange opportunity."

"You either buy it with cash or trade another profession for it. If I recall, Soldier Nurturer is a C-level special profession. For a private purchase... since you’re a Core Seed, it should only cost you five million, but you’ll have to sign a non-disclosure agreent."

The corner of Su Chen’s mouth twitched. He still hadn’t scrounged up the five million he needed for the Secret Technique Energy Crystal.

’I have a whole collection of Top-tier Professions,’ he mused. ’Exchanging just one of them would probably be enough.’

"The Soldier Nurturer profession isn’t very practical. You can get used to the feel of a new weapon after breaking it in for a while," Jin Yunxuan chid in from the side. "The materials wasted on upgrading a Low Tier weapon might not be much, but when you get to the High Tiers, even the departnt heads and the Chief Judge would wince at the cost."

"If you keep upgrading it, the waste is imnse. If you switch to a new weapon, you lose your significant prior investnt."

Jin Yunxuan had a point, but Su Chen’s gaze flickered past them to an instrunt on the table behind them. A palm-sized Holy Word Stone rested on it, but from his angle, he couldn’t see its surface.

"Is that a new Holy Word Stone?" Su Chen asked, changing the subject.

Sang Hanhai assud he was ready to give up on the idea. After all, the profession consud a ton of materials for a minimal increase in power. Hardly anyone in the Craftsmanship Departnt would even give it the ti of day.

"Yes, Yuan Poshan sent it over. We’re in the process of deciphering it." Sang Hanhai made no attempt to hide it. "With an undeciphered Holy Word Stone, it doesn’t matter if you glance at it once or stare at it ten tis. Even a photographic mory is useless."

Su Chen took two steps forward—just two steps—and he could clearly see the symbols flickering across its surface.

[Special Profession Discovered: Drug Tester. You may accept this profession after fulfilling the requirents.]

[Requirent 1: Consu over 10,000 Support Potions of a Tier no lower than your own.]

’Just one requirent?’

Su Chen paused. ’This is the first ti I’ve seen a profession like this. Consuming ten thousand Potions... it sounds like a lot, but it’s not actually that difficult.’

’I’ve already finished a tenth of it.’

[To express its supre reverence for the Great Venerable, the Drug Tester profession has decided to allow the Host to accept it directly.]

’Just like that? It’s done?’

Su Chen raised an eyebrow, though he wasn’t particularly surprised. ’A minor profession like this would just beco a punching bag once it joins my collection. Forget the Great Venerable; my other professions alone would be more than enough to put it through the wringer.’

"Hey!"

His vision suddenly went dark as an old, wrinkled face appeared right in front of him. Sang Hanhai was staring at him suspiciously. "What do you think you’re doing, kid?"

"Don’t tell you’re trying to brute-force morize the patterns of those symbols."

"No..." Su Chen shook his head, his face twisted into a bizarre expression that was part constipation, part diarrhea. "I feel like... this thing... it’s calling to ..."

"What did you say?"

Sang Hanhai’s one good eye nearly popped out of its socket. His brow furrowed deeply as he stared suspiciously at Su Chen.

Beside them, Jin Yunxuan’s face went blank with surprise. He frowned for a mont, then a flicker of amusent crossed his features.

’The kid’s not actually going to claim he can resonate with this Holy Word Stone too, is he?’

"I think... I can resonate with this Holy Word Stone, too."

Jin Yunxuan froze. ’He actually said it.’

"You can resonate with it, too?"

Sang Hanhai didn’t get excited. Instead, his expression turned grim. "Kid, let warn you right now. If you’re trying to pull one over on , I don’t care whose na you drop. It won’t do you any good."

The nearby staff all turned to look. So hadn’t overheard the exchange and looked confused.

That was a heavy accusation. Su Chen fell silent for a mont, as if concentrating on the sensation more carefully. Then, his expression grew firm. "That’s right. I can definitely feel it!"
