"He’s injured that badly?" Bu Siqi hadn’t expected it and almost laughed out loud, but he quickly reined it in.
Wei Yinsuo scoffed inwardly, but on the surface he sighed. "I didn’t expect the three of you to co."
"Chief Judge, how can you say that? We all work for the Judicial Court. We’re family," Su Chen said with a sigh of emotion. "Seeing you so injured... I’m just..."
He sighed repeatedly.
’It looks like *you’re* the one who can’t hold back a laugh,’ thought the expressionless Xue Fei, who stood nearby.
"Your injuries... how are they still so severe?" Teng Liang, at least, looked the part with his solemn expression. But those who knew him knew he treated everyone this way.
Wei Yinsuo’s long, drawn face twisted into a pained smile. "The lingering Deceptive Divine Power is wreaking havoc inside my body. I don’t dare use any aggressive treatnt thods, so I can only take it slow."
Su Chen’s brows twitched. ’He has lingering Deceitful God’s Power in his body. That can’t be what I’m sensing, can it?’
’A misunderstanding?’
’No.’ Su Chen dismissed the thought. His senses were far too strong and clear to be fooled by a simple explanation about so residual Deceptive Divine Power.
Wei Yinsuo might be able to fool the Judicial Court’s detection instrunts, but he couldn’t fool Su Chen.
The three made so more small talk. The atmosphere was so awkward that even Xue Fei found it unbearable.
Having gotten most of the information he needed, Su Chen had no interest in wasting any more ti and bade them farewell.
Xue Fei escorted them to the elevator with a grave expression on his face. Only after watching the elevator reach the first floor did he snort coldly. "How ridiculous."
The mont they stepped out of the elevator, Bu Siqi could barely contain himself. Su Chen, however, found the nurse on duty and asked, "What are the specifics of Judge Wei’s condition?"
"Su Chen, there’s no one else on the first floor." Bu Siqi thought Su Chen was getting addicted to playing his part.
The dical wing, which few people visited to begin with, had been nearly cleared out to exclusively serve Wei Yinsuo.
The young nurse on duty recognized Su Chen. Her gaze lingered on his handso face for a few seconds, but she didn’t dare et his eyes. She shook her head. "No, I can’t say."
"I see," Su Chen said as if in realization. A glint flashed through his eyes as he implanted a Spirit Seed. At the sa ti, the young nurse’s eyes beca slightly vacant.
Mind Control plus a Spirit Seed.
He still couldn’t overco the distance limitations to perform long-range Mind Control, so he could only plant a temporary suggestion for her to look through Wei Yinsuo’s dical files later.
This way, once he was back, he could use the Spirit Seed to get the information he wanted.
After leaving the dical wing, Bu Siqi finally couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing. "Did you guys see that? The way Wei Yinsuo smiled was so pathetic. Holding it in was killing ."
"How is his vitality?" Teng Liang asked abruptly.
"Nearly gone," Bu Siqi said, gloating. "His blood is contaminated with lingering Deceptive Divine Power. He’s really going through it."
His profession allowed him to sense the blood of others and thus deduce their health.
Bu Siqi naturally couldn’t have sensed Wei Yinsuo at his peak, but the current Wei Yinsuo, apart from hanging on by a thread, was practically no different from a dead man.
Su Chen remained silent the entire ti. After dropping Teng Liang off at the Judgnt Departnt with Bu Siqi, he returned to his residence and entered the Gravity Chamber.
He awakened his Spirit Seed and entered the young nurse’s perspective.
The young nurse was scrolling through a virtual terminal. Page after page of text and images appeared—Wei Yinsuo’s treatnt records.
"...The lingering Deceptive Divine Power is extrely resilient. Conventional therapies cannot remove it..."
"...Spirit Body shattered, repaired by Judge You..."
"..."
It was a long ti before Su Chen ca back to his senses and began piecing together all the information.
’Wei Yinsuo muddled the concepts, making everyone think that the Deceitful God’s Power was just a remnant in his body, but that isn’t actually the case.’
’But his Spirit Body was checked. He’s definitely not a Black Tuo Follower, so what’s the Black Tuo’s Power in his body for?’
Su Chen speculated silently, ’But he can’t keep this up for long. If the lingering Deceitful God’s Power can never be expelled, even an idiot would realize sothing is wrong.’
’He should be aware of the risks of this deception. Either there’s another hidden reason, or what he needs to do must be completed in a short amount of ti.’
’He isn’t coming for , is he?’ Su Chen’s brow tightened, a vicious glint flashing in his eyes. ’It would be best to take his life while he’s down.’
But trying to kill a Chief Judge, even a heavily injured one, would be extrely difficult.
Su Chen’s brow furrowed. ’What about reporting him?’
He thought of his old thod again, then imdiately rejected it. It was too much trouble, and it probably wouldn’t work anyway. Wei Yinsuo was a Chief Judge, after all.
’Poison?’
’No good. That’s the dical wing. Unless I could control everyone... and that kind of advanced poison would be hard to acquire and easy to trace.’
He thought for a long ti, genuinely feeling how tricky the situation was.
Even if he risked doing it himself, and even with Wei Yinsuo heavily injured, just getting close would be a huge problem. His security was also very strong, and that guy Xue Fei was a Tier Five Professional.
Not to ntion, this was inside the Judicial Court.
Even if the dical wing was relatively remote, if a big commotion really broke out, Chong Jingtian might not arrive in the blink of an eye, but it would be close.
’If it really cos to it, I can go hide out at the Translation Departnt.’
After thinking for ages, he realized he didn’t have any good options and instead thought of an escape route. ’First, let’s see how long this guy can last. If Wei Yinsuo can really keep up the deception indefinitely, then I’ll figure sothing else out.’
When you need to hide, you hide. He imdiately contacted Sang Hanhai, saying he was planning to go over and study for a while.
Old Sang was quite surprised but didn’t refuse. He just told Su Chen to co in a week, saying he was tied up translating sothing important.
Su Chen wasn’t in a rush, either. Wei Yinsuo’s injuries weren’t going to heal any ti soon.
’I can make so other preparations first, just in case,’ Su Chen thought, stroking his chin. ’I’ll have that Tieyan get so things to help with Concealnt, and a mask...’
...
Several days later, Wei Yinsuo received two more visitors.
"...Chief Judge..." Sincere sorrow was etched on Xiao Ying’s face as he walked in. "I never imagined your injuries would be this severe."
He then explained, "I went ho for the Yuanqing Festival and just got back today. Coming to see you was the first thing I did."
"Your father, is he well?" Wei Yinsuo asked with a smile.
Xiao Ying quickly replied, "Thank you for asking. He’s doing well."
Beside him, He Kang said, "Old Wei was just promoted to Tier Five recently. He’s doing his best to stabilize his new rank, so he really couldn’t get away."
"You told that last ti you were here. I know," Wei Yinsuo chuckled. "Everyone has their own business to attend to, and the Judicial Court must go on. There’s no need for all of you to co visit an old man like ."
"I heard Su Chen also ca to see you a couple of days ago?" Xiao Ying asked tentatively.
"Yes," Wei Yinsuo nodded, an indescribable expression flickering in his eyes. He added with a sigh, "That student of Xia Hanshi’s... he’s really not like him at all."
Xiao Ying’s expression stiffened. He lowered his voice. "But back then, he completely humiliated Zhu Xuan."
"You may not know, but Zhu Xuan worked so incredibly hard to defeat him. Yet in the arena... alas..."
He trailed off, a look of pity on his face. He Kang’s brow furrowed tightly, and he felt a wave of disgust.
Wei Yinsuo’s expression was indifferent. "The dead can’t be brought back to life. Zhu Xuan is already dead. I don’t want to see anyone use him to stir up trouble."
He Kang breathed a sigh of relief. Although Wei Yinsuo was at odds with Xia Hanshi, at least he was reasonable.
Xiao Ying’s expression soured, but Wei Yinsuo simply said, "I’m tired."
’What a sha,’ Xue Fei thought to himself. He imdiately stepped forward to escort the guests out.
Xiao Ying could only say helplessly, "Then please get so rest."
Only after they were out the doors of the dical wing did He Kang say coldly, "What exactly are you trying to do?"
"So things... soone has to do them," Xiao Ying said, shaking his head faintly.
He Kang was furious. In his mind, there should be a limit to competition, and Xiao Ying had crossed the line.
He was just about to speak when his expression suddenly changed.
He looked up to see the distant sky, which had only just begun to grow dim, gradually turning a deep blood-red. Serpents of crimson lightning writhed wildly in midair.
