The two n were startled, "You... you woke up?".
Their anesthesia was supposed to make her sleep for three days.
lody Thorne raised her hand to touch her left cheek, "I woke up from the pain. Where are you taking ?".
The two exchanged glances and were about to hold her down to inject her with more anesthetic.
"Wait, wait, suddenly my face feels so itchy and painful. What should I do? Who did this? I feel like my face is going to rot," lody said painfully, covering her face with one hand. "Quick, quickly get so dicine."
Seeing her painful expression, the two couldn’t help but curse under their breath, "Damn, it must have been that woman putting sothing on the dagger, trying to get us killed."
"Alright, go quickly find so dicine, hurry," the other one was obviously frightened too.
"You stay here, I’ll go right away,"
"You both should go together; my face is almost falling apart, I can’t run away," lody said, covering her face. "If you wait any longer, I bet my face will be ruined."
The two, afraid that lody’s face would indeed be ruined, quickly ran outside,
lody let down her hand. Who else is on this ship, and why is he protecting her? It doesn’t make sense.
She carefully left the small storeroom and hid in a secluded spot.
On the large boat, there weren’t many people at all; it seed more like a private ship.
"Mom, what do you think of this? I bought it from abroad last ti, crafted by a renowned sculptor. So many people wanted it, but I was the one who finally got it. Here, it’s for you. This jade is for keeping you safe."
"Alright, alright. I always knew you were the most filial,"
From a slight distance, lody could hear their conversation. Subconsciously, she looked towards the source of the voice because it sounded particularly familiar.
Two won were there, their backs facing her, their faces unclear.
But one of their backs was extrely familiar to lody; it seed like Mrs. Thorne’s back, like, incredibly similar. If not for the woman standing beside her, lody would have approached already,
But that woman was calling Mrs. Thorne mom.
"Mom, do you think Uncle Hai really wants to take in as his goddaughter?" The woman spoke again. "He said once we return, he’ll acknowledge as his goddaughter."
"There’s nothing wrong with what he said. I have nothing much to give you; your Uncle Hai’s family is influential and powerful, so acknowledging a godfather isn’t a bad thing," Mrs. Thorne looked at her daughter with a doting gaze.
lody heard everything clearly. It was definitely Mrs. Thorne’s voice, no doubt about it. Clearly, Ivy brought her to this ship, so why is Mrs. Thorne here too?
Who is that woman? Why has she never thought of returning?
As lody thought about it, her feet unconsciously took a step forward.
"Who’s there?" The woman beside Mrs. Thorne looked back but saw nothing,
"What’s wrong?"
"I just saw soone spying on us over there."
This comnt made Mrs. Thorne laugh softly, "My daughter is so beautiful, naturally, people would want to peek at you. Wasn’t it the sa abroad?"
lody’s mouth was covered, and she instinctively tried to open her mouth to bite down.
"It’s ," Jared Quinn’s deep voice sounded above her head as an arm wrapped around her waist, half-carrying her away until they entered a room on the ship.
