"When did you guys arrive? And you actually have a room to stay in?"
She had been in the small storage room all night.
"When Mr. Quinn found out that Mrs. lody was missing, we got on this ship within an hour," Harold Chapman explained.
"So, did you know I was locked in the storage room?" lody Thorne’s face darkened.
"Yes," Harold answered.
lody Thorne "...Why didn’t you get out, and instead stayed in such a nice room?"
"Well..." Harold looked at the man whose face wasn’t looking very good either.
"You just follow others easily, and now you think you have a point?" Jared Quinn’s dark eyes captured her fiercely, wanting badly to press her onto the bed and teach her a lesson right now.
"I was kidnapped by Ivy," lody Thorne said, her voice guilty.
"She kidnaps you, and you can’t scream?" Jared Quinn easily dismantled her weak excuse.
lody Thorne "...Is this place safe? Won’t you all be discovered soon?"
She still hadn’t figured out what kind of ship this was.
"Don’t worry, not for the ti being, but we need to capture Ivy and leave quickly, or we’ll end up abroad," Harold said seriously.
The ship was full of weapons, apparently being shipped to Crestfall. It was privately owned, and they wouldn’t interfere if they didn’t have to.
"And my mom, I just saw my mom," lody Thorne looked down, long lashes casting shadows on her fair features, hiding the emotions in her eyes.
Finn Thorne was still in the hospital, and Mrs. Thorne was being called "mom" by another woman.
She truly doubted if Mrs. Thorne had forgotten about her and Finn Thorne’s existence.
Jared Quinn gently smoothed her dark hair, seemingly aware of what she was thinking but said nothing, instructing Harold, "First, go check the situation on the ship. We’ll leave in twenty minutes."
"Alright."
Harold went out, and Jared Quinn’s gaze finally moved to her small face. Her already delicate skin was now tainted with an unsightly bandage.
Jared Quinn’s expression instantly turned cold as he touched it, "How did this happen?"
"It hurts," lody Thorne cried out in surprise, "Don’t touch it."
Jared Quinn realized it might not be a minor injury, and a storm began brewing in his handso, brilliant eyes. He pulled her into his arms, insisting on examining her wound.
"Careful, careful, it hurts, it hurts," lody Thorne kept calling out, suddenly feeling particularly fragile in front of Jared Quinn. When he wasn’t around, it didn’t seem to hurt as much.
Realizing this, lody Thorne imdiately shut her mouth tight, biting her lower lip to prevent herself from making any more sounds.
"It’s not shaful for a woman to say it hurts," as if knowing what she was thinking, Jared Quinn said aloud, his touch considerably softer.
"But I’m not afraid of pain," lody Thorne stubbornly said, having already died once; there was nothing left to fear.
"Hmm, you’re not afraid of pain," Jared Quinn spoke as if coaxing a toddler.
lody Thorne "..."
The bandage was torn away, revealing her flawless, jade-like skin with a long, thin cut, as if inflicted by a sharp dagger. It hadn’t been treated in any way, with traces of blood on both sides.
"Who did this?" Jared Quinn’s eyes darkened ominously, and an overwhelming coldness filled the room.
