Timmy didn’t move anymore, sleeping soundly, while lody Thorne couldn’t sleep at all. She wanted to go downstairs to pour a glass of water and walked downstairs after leaving the bedroom. She knew soone nad Wendy Lynch, so she didn’t think much of it.
After pouring a glass of water, lody Thorne zoned out again. So many things had happened these past days, one after another, overwhelming her, but what hurt her the most was concerning Hans Montrose.
"If you keep pouring, it’ll overflow."
Suddenly Jared Quinn’s voice ca from behind; lody Thorne was startled, almost dropping the cup in her hand. She glanced back at the culprit and glared at him.
Jared Quinn stood there completely blocking the doorway, leaving no trace of an exit, making it impossible for her to get out.
lody Thorne had filled the cup too full. She picked up another cup and poured out a little, intending to leave. But behind her, a wall ca up, cold and firm, with arms wrapping around her from behind.
"Move away," lody Thorne said, moving slightly. Not only was he angry, but she was too.
Jared Quinn’s eyes narrowed slightly, his grip tightening, his gaze landing on her flat belly, deepening his eye color. His voice was hoarse, "What did you eat outside today?"
lody Thorne kept her mouth closed and raised her head in anger, "None of your business."
He had been angry and ignoring her since yesterday, and now suddenly he’s concerned about what she ate.
"lody Thorne," Jared Quinn’s large hand slipped through her clothes to her flat belly, his palm rubbing it finely, gritting his teeth, "I’m concerned about my child."
"Ha," lody Thorne laughed profoundly, "If you’re concerned about your child, why don’t you move it to your belly?"
Jared Quinn’s face darkened from her retort. If he could move it, he would have already done so; no need to worry every day about whether she eats well or sleeps well.
His palm slid over the smooth skin of her belly, growing hotter. Lowering his head, Jared Quinn bit her little ear.
"Don’t bite my ear," lody Thorne covered her ear with one hand, while the other hand removed the large hand on her belly, angrily glaring up at the man’s face.
"What, I can’t even touch you now?" Jared Quinn lowered his head to look at her, his dark eyes holding a hint of hurt.
"Promise you’ll ask Leon Rivers to save Hans Montrose first," lody Thorne retreated a step.
Jared Quinn’s chest was chiseled fiercely by a hamr, the pain unbearable. Her words felt like a transaction, making him very uncomfortable.
"Are you going to save him or not?"
"No," Jared Quinn’s cold and hard features were tight.
"Fine, that’s your choice," lody Thorne turned and walked out of the kitchen. If they weren’t going to save Hans Montrose, they’d continue the cold war.
"lody Thorne," Jared Quinn grabbed her with a large hand, angrily opened the thermal container on the table—it was sothing he had instructed the butler to leave behind, afraid she hadn’t eaten well outside today.
"Eat dinner before going upstairs to sleep," holding onto her as he led her to the dining table, his deliberately slowed steps showing caution.
"I said it’s none of your business, I don’t need you to care," lody Thorne planned to fight him to the end. If he didn’t care about Hans Montrose, then they wouldn’t reconcile for a day.
Each of her words stimulated Jared Quinn’s nerves.
With ease, Jared Quinn scooped up her struggling body and placed it on the dining table. His solid waist squeezed between her legs, large hands gripping her waist, his handso but wicked face showing gentle anger, wanting to threaten her but fearing her aversion.
