Swordfire State.
Sword Mountain.
Tianjian City.
Bound to a stone pillar, Xia Chan was covered in wounds, frail and weak.
Facing the jeers and taunts of thousands of Divine Sect disciples, her face was emotionless, her heart undisturbed. She could imagine her own fate, but she didn't care.
She never wanted to live in this world to begin with.
...
"Kill her!"
"Kill her!"
"..."
After the old man's splendid "speech" concluded, thousands of Divine Sect disciples raised their arms and roared, their voices like thunder. The deafening cries for her death dragged Xia Chan back to reality.
The old man, dressed in a Sword Robe and exuding the aura of an immortal, raised a hand. The entire field was plunged into an instantaneous, deathly silence. Then, he walked unhurriedly toward Xia Chan.
Xia Chan looked at him with contempt, parting her cracked lips to mock him. "The so-called righteous path of the heavens, the Divine Sect that protects this land, is nothing more than a den of hypocrites."
The old man's expression remained unchanged. He smiled faintly. "It's a rare chance for you to live a few more breaths. Why not cherish it? Take this ti to have one last look at the world, and perhaps say a few final words."
Xia Chan snorted coldly and looked away. She was truly disgusted.
What people knew, what they believed, was rely what the powerful few wanted them to know. And those who had wronged her, who had pinned these fabricated cris on her, knew better than anyone how innocent she truly was.
In truth, she had never massacred the innocent, nor had she poisoned blaless villagers.
But if you want to fra soone, any excuse will do.
Because of a certain "speech," in the eyes of these Divine Sect disciples, she was a poison witch overflowing with evil, a monster who reveled in slaughter.
After arriving in the Upper Realm, she had secluded herself deep in the mountains, seeking no part in worldly affairs and wishing only to live out her days in peace. But one day, a few disciples from the Swordfire Divine Sect ca into the mountains searching for dicinal herbs. They stumbled upon her and were instantly overco with lust for her beauty.
Those Divine Sect disciples brought about their own doom, dying from a potent poison.
After that, more disciples ca for her. One batch died, and another would take its place. As one of the top powers in the Upper Realm, an eternal orthodoxy, the Swordfire Divine Sect had no shortage of people.
In ti, she beca known as the "Deadly Poison Witch," her notoriety spreading across the realms, earning her the scorn of all.
And so, she was captured and brought here, to be punished before the masses.
...
The old man slowly raised his right hand. As he activated a spell, the runes carved into the stone pillar began to glow, and with them ca a searing Swordfire!
Xia Chan's delicate body trembled, her face contorting in pain.
The old man watched her mockingly. "Your poisonous body is a rarity, not seen in a thousand years. Even in death, your corpse can contribute to the Divine Sect. You should consider it an honor."
Xia Chan clenched her teeth and struggled fiercely. She truly did not want to live and had long been indifferent to life and death, but she refused to die such a deaning death, burned alive by Swordfire.
At this mont, however, she was utterly desperate and powerless.
Just as she was about to give up and resign herself to her fate, a beam of Sword Qi suddenly sliced through the air. It instantly shattered the Barrier enveloping her and dispersed the burning Swordfire on the stone pillar.
Seeing the Barrier destroyed, the old man's eyes widened in shock. As if terrified of being tainted by her deadly poison, he hastily floated backward.
Just then, a commotion erupted from the crowd behind him.
The old man whirled around, his brow furrowing.
He saw a handso young man clad in armor, wreathed in rising black qi. His long hair fluttered as he walked toward them at a serene pace.
On the training grounds, wherever the handso young man passed, the disciples scattered as if fleeing a plague, hastily clearing a path.
Xia Chan watched the mysterious man, a slight frown on her face. She didn't believe he had co to save her from this peril. He was probably just like the leaders of the Swordfire Divine Sect, coveting her poisonous body.
Then she noticed that the old man was trembling, his eyes fixed on the mysterious man in what looked like sheer terror. Farther away, even the Sect Master, Huo Hangku, had already retreated to a safe distance, his face a mask of dread.
Who is this person? Xia Chan wondered. Why is this old man so terrified of him?
She decided to watch how things unfolded, but she was also prepared to take them all down with her.
...
"It's... it's you!"
Luo Xiu stopped and smiled faintly. "Old man, long ti no see."
Back in the Boundless Heavens, Luo Xiu had indeed crossed paths with this elder.
It was none other than Huo Tianlei.
And at that ti, Luo Xiu had told Huo Tianlei that one day, he would personally visit his sect to deliver a gift of utter annihilation.
Today, three years later, Luo Xiu had finally fulfilled his promise. He had always been a man of his word.
Suddenly, Luo Xiu's figure flashed past Huo Tianlei, appearing at Xia Chan's side. With a casual tug, he snapped the inscription-covered chains that bound her.
"Are you alright?"
Xia Chan looked up at this stranger who stood a full head taller than her, montarily bewildered. It seed this man bore her no ill will. For so reason, the gentleness in his eyes felt familiar, even giving her a sense of security.
Lost in thought, her eyes suddenly widened, and she twisted away just as Luo Xiu reached out to wrap an arm around her waist.
"Don't... Don't touch !"
Luo Xiu's hand paused in mid-air, his brow furrowed slightly. He could indeed sense a terrifying poison emanating from her body, and he had a good idea of where it ca from. During the great calamity in the Land of Slaughter, Xia Chan had absorbed all of the Shu Poison.
...
"Boy, do you have any idea where you are? This is no place for you to run rampant!" Huo Tianlei suddenly roared, his voice full of confidence, showing no trace of fear.
He had co to his senses—this was the Swordfire Divine Sect! They had nearly ten thousand disciples, their Ancestor was present, and they had the protection of the Swordfire itself! No matter how strong this kid was, he couldn't possibly make waves all by himself.
Luo Xiu's expression was impassive. He rely shot Huo Tianlei an indifferent glance. He had no interest in such small fry and couldn't be bothered to speak with them.
He had co to the Swordfire Divine Sect today for one reason: to fulfill his promise and deliver his catastrophic gift. But more importantly, he was here to avenge the Heaven's Aegis Army by killing the Swordfire Divine Sect's Ancestor.
Suddenly, he reached out and wrapped his arm around Xia Chan's slender waist.
Startled, Xia Chan tensed up, not daring to move.
Luo Xiu, however, paid it no mind. He even gave her waist a little squeeze and joked, "Sa as ever, you little vixen."
"Go inside and wait. I need to examine your body."
Before Xia Chan could react, a portal to another space materialized out of The Void before her.
When she saw the portal, she froze. The words she wanted to say caught in her throat, and a mist began to well up in her beautiful eyes.
"Is... is it you?"
"Who else could it be?"
With that, Luo Xiu swept his gaze over the Divine Sect disciples on the training grounds and comnted, "I didn't expect this old fool to be so patient."
After uttering this enigmatic phrase, Luo Xiu carried Xia Chan into the Land of Lawlessness.
The next mont, the sky plunged into darkness.
On the training grounds and throughout the sect, every disciple looked up. A single glance was enough to nearly shatter their minds.
A boulder of imnse size, large enough to crush the entire sect, was slowly descending from the heavens.
Even at such a great distance, its terrifying aura seed powerful enough to obliterate everything.
Suddenly, Luo Xiu's voice thundered across heaven and earth: "A humble gift, a token of my esteem. Please, accept it with a smile."
...
「anwhile, in the Land of Lawlessness.」
Xia Chan struggled desperately. "Don't touch ! Don't you dare touch !"
Luo Xiu held her domineeringly, then suddenly swept her up into his arms and walked straight toward the large bed.
Hearing the commotion, Master Ping ca running over, but after one look, he quickly turned and walked away.
Damn it. That boy is going to get himself killed over a woman one of these days!
