Chapter 299
The mont she finished speaking, she didn’t waste a second and got straight down to business.
Under Ray and Chloe’s stunned gazes, she began stripping the dead beasts of their hard armor plates.
Within twenty minutes, all the Earth Shakers they had killed were now completely chitin and armorless, as the raw materials lay piled beneath her feet.
"Uh... what are you doing?" Ray asked with a raised brow as he stared at the crude, earthy shells on the ground.
"Hm. This won’t be solid enough. It might make us sink," Trisha muttered beneath her breath, obviously ignoring Ray’s question.
And as usual, the Tribrid caught her whispered words.
Lifting her head imdiately, she turned to face the boy.
"Is there a way you can locate any dead Carapace Spiders? Their steel armor should be of use."
Ray looked at her for a few doubtful seconds, then sighed heavily.
’I know she’s crazy. But if there’s even the slightest shred of hope that we can escape this place, I will take it.’
"Uh... sure. That is if the sea delivered so spiders today, that is."
’Where does it even get those bodies from anyway? I doubt the sea stretches so wide toward the other continents, right?’
"Good. Find them," Trisha uttered, and then crouched down when she suddenly paused in place.
"Your lasso. How long can it stretch?"
Ray thought for a few brief seconds.
"As long as I want."
"Great. Pass it over here. From my observations, it is likely indestructible, so it can help us secure the fra."
Activating the skill, a glowing golden lasso materialized smoothly in his grasp.
’And to think that I initially dismissed this skill as absolutely useless and trash. It has definitely helped us a lot in this valley. It also made our hunt much easier than before. Now, it might just help us escape.’
Passing the lasso toward Trisha, he commanded it to stretch over sixty ters in length.
"Chloe. I need your help," Trisha uttered as she snatched the lasso from Ray and got to work piecing the armor plates together.
"We are really going to cross that dark sea? Are we really doing this?" Chloe asked as she gulped loudly in raw fear.
"Not today, of course," Trisha mumbled with a calm, steady focus.
"Still doesn’t make feel any better."
"You still here?" Trisha asked as she tilted her head to look up at Ray, who was staring at her with a stunned gaze.
"By the way, how many hours do we have left till sunset?"
Over the days, she had noticed that the boy had a way to accurately predict the ti, and he was never wrong.
She was entirely unknown to the fact that the boy was simply using his system interface as a clock.
’System?’
[Ah damn... here we go again.]
It seed like the boy could literally hear the system sigh inwardly at his request.
[Five hours left.]
Relaying the ssage back to Trisha, the girl nodded curtly.
Spinning on his heels, Ray tapped his temples twice and activated his ’Thermal Vision’ to scan the vast valley for a minute.
He could see the bright thermal auras of the living Advanced-rank beasts.
However, since he was basically looking for dead carcasses, he wouldn’t be able to sense their body heat.
So, he picked a high hill and darted toward it.
Within seconds, he was atop the hill and proceeded to scan the landscape below with his vision, and he could spot so beasts moving away from the shore.
Wanting to test his luck again, he directed his gaze toward the open sea, and almost instantly, his Thermal Vision began flickering in and out with violent force.
Quickly deactivating it, he breathed a heavy sigh of relief as he switched back to his normal vision.
’There’s surely sothing dangerous out there.’
Stretching his natural vision thin, he could just catch sight of a few shiny pieces of chitin reflecting the sunlight back his way near the coastline.
"Bingo."
He didn’t waste ti as he began crawling down the hill and was rushing towards where he had spotted the supposed dead beasts.
Luckily, it was far from where the sea could touch and he didn’t need to worry about any beasts seeing him.
The King-rank beasts were currently slumbering, and at the mont, no Advanced-rank beast posed any threat whatsoever to him.
So he ran unbothered.
Within minutes, he was already before the dead Carapace Spiders.
Luckily, there were four of these spiders.
But unfortunately, there was no way he could carry them all back in ti.
’Damn. Should have brought Chloe with instead.’
Observing the spiders, he decided to try his luck.
Knowing that he would be slowed down considerably, he bent down, grabbed one of the huge spiders, and then placed it on his head.
Making sure he was balanced, he reached out and grabbed two spiders in each of his hands.
Staring at the fourth, he sighed and turned away.
"These will have to do."
And with that, Ray was forced to slowly and painfully return back to Trisha with the dead beasts.
.....
An hour passed since he had left for the dead beasts.
Thirty minutes more passed, and he could finally be seen wobbling forward, trying to make sure the dead beast on his head didn’t fall off.
He had encountered a few Earth Shakers on his way back and managed to disperse them.
He didn’t have ti to retrieve their cores, so he painfully left them there, as survival was more important right now.
Reaching where Trisha and Chloe were, he dropped the dead beasts.
Without glancing at his condition, Trisha rushed towards the dead beasts and began peeling their steel armor plates off.
Weighing a piece a few tis in her hands, she nodded with satisfaction.
’They are light. Perfect.’
Groaning, Ray found a spot to relax on as he glared ahead.
He was thirsty, but there was nothing he could do.
The sea was too active at the mont.
Over the last week they spent here, they had been eating beast at while drinking from the sea during the night and, to their surprise, it wasn’t really harmful.
But sothing didn’t bode well with Ray about the sea.
If they could drink it safely, then what was it that was disrupting his vision each ti?
Even at night when he plunged into it, his incredible vision was gone, as he was unable to peer deep into the sea.
Sothing was definitely wrong.
He had a lot of questions as he watched Trisha work efficiently and quickly on the project at hand, with ti rapidly ticking out.
But the most pressing question was,
’How the hell does she know how to build a boat?!’
