Chapter 302
Hanging in the water by tentacles were Ray, Chloe, and Trisha, who were spaced out from one another.
For so reason, now that he was in this position, he could finally see all around him, which allowed him to take in the full image of the dweller of the sea.
Why his vision was suddenly working? He had no idea.
This also allowed him to see that Chloe was knocked out clean.
Only Trisha seed conscious and was wriggling and struggling against the tentacles with all her might.
Yet the more she struggled, the more the tentacles tightened their grip on her, and in the process, she was becoming weakened, possibly losing oxygen the more she fought.
’Wait. How haven’t I lost consciousness yet? I still feel like the body has a lot of energy and won’t possibly faint anyti soon.’
«Is now the right ti to think about that, you foolish human?!»
Turning around in the mindspace, Ray could see that Bruce was now on his feet, and he had a horrified expression on his face.
Darting towards the chair, he placed his hand on Elyon’s shoulder to properly see what they were faced with.
And for the first ti, the werewolf looked incredibly pale.
He had never worn this expression, even when he faced an Aberrant.
He also hadn’t looked this unsettled when he battled the Minotaur.
So why was he so shaken?
Now that he could see as clearly as possible and wasn’t entirely consud by panic, Ray was able to scan the creature from top to bottom, hoping there was a weakness he could make use of.
Not to defeat the beast, but to escape from its clutches.
The creature looming beneath them was a nightmare given flesh.
A gargantuan mass of pulsing purple flesh drifted through the dark waters, its colossal head shaped like sothing between a squid and a grotesque abyssal beast.
At the center of its face rested a single enormous crimson eye, glowing like a blood-red moon within the depths of the ocean.
The eye never blinked.
It simply stared, radiating an ancient hunger that made the sea itself feel colder.
Its mouth stretched open beneath the eye, impossibly wide and lined with countless jagged teeth layered upon one another in endless rows.
The deeper the mouth extended, the darker it beca, resembling a bottomless tunnel that swallowed even the faintest traces of light.
Looking into it felt like staring into a living abyss.
From beneath its bloated body, hundreds of massive tentacles twisted violently through the water like a nest of enraged serpents.
Thick veins pulsed beneath their slick purple surface while enormous suckers lined their lengths, each one large enough to crush a man whole.
The tentacles coiled around the trio rcilessly, tightening with terrifying strength as more of them writhed around the beast like an endless storm of flesh.
The crimson eye remained locked onto them the entire ti.
Watching. Hunting. Waiting.
Gulping loudly, Ray was honestly fighting the urge to completely lose his composure.
Not like he could disgrace himself that way, though.
Why he was so out of breath was because from all the parts he scanned on the beast, he was unable to actually see any signs of a flaw which he could exploit.
Bruce took half a step back in total shock.
"The hell? What’s a beast like this doing here?!"
Ray turned towards the werewolf with a raised brow.
"What do you an? Do you—Do you know what this is?"
"I... argh...." Bruce groaned loudly as his hands shot towards his head, holding it with all his might.
Fragnted mories were swirling in his mind, making his head spin as he tried to piece them together in a way he could make out what was going on.
He had reacted in shock when he saw the creature because it felt hauntingly familiar, but he couldn’t recall where he had seen it from.
Trying to rember sent a pulse of a headache shooting into his mind.
"Kr-Ugh... Kraken," Bruce’s voice slithered out.
And the mont he said that word, Elyon’s eyes stretched wide as he turned towards the screen.
"Fuck. We need to run now! We are no match for this damned creature. None of us is."
"Well, you didn’t have to tell we need to run. I was planning on that."
Throughout his months of having the system and his bloodlines, he had never felt this urge... feeling to run away from a threat before as much as he could feel right now.
Even when the Minotaur attacked, he still stood his ground and fought.
But not now.
All his instincts were screaming at him to run far away from this monstrosity.
But how were they to do that?
Three tentacles were holding him down while hundreds more were practically swirling around the.... Kraken.
Although she wasn’t struggling anymore, Trisha had a fierce look in her eyes as she glared into the singular eye on the creature’s head.
As he looked at her, sothing began spinning in his mind.
’Water.... Ice... lightning.... This could work.’
The Kraken slowly cracked its mouth open as if wanting to speak but didn’t say a word, and instead, the tentacles holding the humans were slowly approaching the mouth.
’We-We are about to turn to Kraken food?’
"Damn it, Ray. Do sothing already!" Bruce shouted in anger and panic too.
"Fool. Am I playing skipping rope here?! Just shut your damned mouth if you can’t help."
As they were approaching the mouth, a dark glint flashed across Trisha’s face as she gripped her sword tighter, then looked in Ray’s direction as if she could see him.
Ray felt the look, and he turned towards the girl. Looking deep within her eyes, it felt like they were communicating.
"Elyon?" Ray softly called out as he kept staring into Trisha’s eyes.
The celestial looked up at the boy hovering behind the chair.
"Let take control," Ray uttered.
Without any hesitation whatsoever, Elyon left the chair for Ray to sit on it.
The mont he did, his attention shifted towards the system as a plan solidified in his mind.
’Two minutes... that’s all I have before I drink too much sea water and then pass out. Sa amount of ti she has too. We can’t defeat the beast, but we can try to escape.’
The mont he was settled, Trisha’s grip on her sword beca firr as frost began creeping in between her fingers.
Spinning the sword lightly around, the water surrounding the tentacles that held her down began freezing at an astonishing rate.
[Sparkshot Activated]
Lightning began crackling around Ray’s hands.
