Chapter 107 - It Accrued Interest
Director Zhang was very happy today.
Originally, he proposed bringing out so alcohol to drink, but after Aunt Yun strongly opposed it, he muttered:
"It's not that I want to drink alcohol; there's nothing good about alcohol. I just feel happy, and drinking adds to the fun!"
"Who says you have to drink when you're happy? After drinking, you make a ss everywhere. Besides you, who else is happy?" Aunt Yun was resolutely opposed.
Last ti her husband drank with Chen Ran, he kept talking nonsense in the middle of the night, keeping her awake.
But she couldn't bicker with soone who was drunk. To avoid a similar situation, she could only resolutely forbid him from drinking.
It was the New Year; if she really let him get drunk, how wretched would that be.
Director Zhang muttered, "If I'm not drinking, then I'm not drinking. What are you saying so much for?"
Aunt Yun rolled her eyes at her husband; this guy's temper was just like this.
Sotis when guests or relatives ca over, he would occasionally drink a little alcohol, and Aunt Yun generally ignored it.
But being with Chen Ran was different. The alcohol doesn't intoxicate the man; the man intoxicates himself. Because he was too happy, most of what he said after drinking was nonsense.
Director Zhang was inherently the type to talk a bit too much after getting drunk. Last ti, when he was just tipsy, he hadn't stopped. If he were to really get drunk this ti, what would happen?
Not only did Aunt Yun know this, but even the Zhang sisters, Fanzhi and Ruyi, were very clear about it, so they had no intention of speaking up to support him against Aunt Yun's actions.
Uncle Zhang originally wanted Chen Ran to help put in a good word, but thinking that his daughters were also present, he resentfully gave up the idea.
Chen Ran, who was eating with his head down, suddenly felt soone looking at him. Looking up, he coincidentally t Zhang Fanzhi's nonchalant gaze.
Chen Ran smiled at her. Zhang Fanzhi slightly knitted her brows and turned her head away.
Seeing this scene, Zhang Ruyi felt a bit sour in her heart for so unknown reason.
Whether it was her parents, or Chen Ran and Zhang Fanzhi, they all seed very harmonious. It was just her who seed a bit superfluous.
Uncle Zhang and Aunt Yun also asked about the situation at Chen Ran's ho.
Chen Ran could hear the roundabout probing in their words, but just smiled and said everything was fine; although he had returned, his sister was keeping them company.
"Do your mom and dad know about the matter between you and Zhizhi?" Director Zhang suddenly asked.
The two elders had always wanted to arrange for Zhang Fanzhi and Chen Ran to go ho and et his parents, but had forgotten the most basic thing.
Chen Ran was stunned by the question. How was he supposed to answer this?
If he said they knew, the secret would definitely be exposed later. Furthermore, what if Uncle Zhang took the opportunity to say he would invite his parents over to visit?
"I haven't told them yet," Chen Ran finally answered truthfully.
Seeing that Director Zhang was sowhat uncomprehending, Chen Ran added:
"My mom and dad are both impatient. Ever since I graduated, they have been looking forward to finding a girlfriend. If they knew I had a girlfriend, they would definitely urge to get married earlier. Both Zhizhi and I have unstable jobs right now. I want to tell them when we've stabilized."
Director Zhang's furrowed brows relaxed a bit. He naturally knew that Chen Ran and Zhang Fanzhi were both in the rising phases of their careers and couldn't afford any delays.
They likewise wanted the two to get married early, but they also had to consider reality.
"You're still okay. As long as you can enter the satellite TV channel, it won't take long before you can stabilize. It's just Zhizhi's side..."
Director Zhang didn't finish speaking, but everyone knew what he ant.
Zhang Fanzhi was the most unstable one, flying everywhere all day long. Under these circumstances, they couldn't possibly get married.
Zhang Fanzhi slightly knitted her brows. She hadn't expected the topic to shift to her.
Zhang Ruyi said softly from the side, "Dad, Sis is only twenty-four years old. Getting married now is too early."
Director Zhang cast a glance at his younger daughter and didn't say anything.
But Zhang Ruyi felt choked up in her heart. This look clearly ant: What do you know?
Aunt Yun, who hadn't spoken up until now, said, "Twenty-four isn't young anymore. Back when your dad and I got married, we were also twenty-four."
Zhang Ruyi muttered, "What era was that for you guys..."
Although her voice wasn't loud, everyone heard it. Two black lines appeared on Aunt Yun's forehead.
Zhang Ruyi imdiately didn't dare to speak anymore.
Chen Ran felt a bit uncomfortable eating this al because the subsequent topics all revolved around him.
He looked at Zhang Fanzhi and found her picking up food and eating as usual, looking completely aloof as if the matter had nothing to do with her.
This atmosphere continued until the al was finished, and only then did Chen Ran breathe a sigh of relief.
Seeing Zhang Fanzhi still having that expression, Chen Ran took advantage of the mont when Aunt Yun and Uncle Zhang were clearing the bowls and chopsticks to bump Zhang Fanzhi's knee with his own.
She completely hadn't expected the usually serious Chen Ran to suddenly bump her with his knee, and imdiately let out an "Ah!"
Sitting on the sofa, Zhang Ruyi heard her sister's cry and hurriedly turned her head to ask:
"What's wrong?"
Zhang Fanzhi knitted her willow brows, looking at Chen Ran without uttering a single word. Facing her sister's question, she rely said nonchalantly:
"There's static electricity."
"Static electricity?" Zhang Ruyi cast a suspicious glance at her sister.
Zhang Fanzhi's expression had long since cald down; she couldn't see anything amiss at all.
Chen Ran, on the other hand, couldn't help but start laughing upon hearing this.
The excuse Zhang Fanzhi used was the exact sa one he had used last ti. Aunt Yun had even told him to try his best to buy cotton clothes back then.
Was she really that lazy? Even reusing the exact sa excuse.
Noticing that Chen Ran was laughing, Zhang Fanzhi furrowed her brows and was about to kick him, but at that exact mont, Director Zhang happened to walk over.
Her plan fell through. She could only cast a glare at Chen Ran, as if telling him to rember this.
Because Chen Ran had to go to work the next day, he needed to hurry back. Once again, it was Zhang Fanzhi dropping him off.
Zhang Fanzhi looked sowhat reluctant, but she silently put on her coat, not forgetting her hat and mask.
In the past, Zhang Fanzhi wasn't as famous as she was now, so she only needed a mask. But with her popularity soaring, she was easily recognized by people even when wearing one.
Now, wearing a hat as well, unless it was soone like Chen Ran who was extrely familiar with her eyes, it would be very difficult to recognize that this was Zhang Xiyun.
Once outside, Chen Ran again walked shoulder to shoulder with Zhang Fanzhi. Zhang Fanzhi was of average height; wearing high heels, she reached the level of the space between Chen Ran's eyebrows.
Turning his head to the side, Chen Ran could see the top of her head, along with the faint puffs of warm breath she exhaled.
The lighting within the residential compound was sowhat dim and yellow, yet through the glow, Chen Ran could clearly see Zhang Fanzhi's fluttering strands of hair.
The two walked shoulder to shoulder toward the parking spot. Sitting in the passenger seat, Chen Ran felt that temporarily holding off on buying a car was truly a wise move.
Seemingly because of what had happened just now, Zhang Fanzhi didn't talk much. Most of the ti it was Chen Ran speaking, while she just perfunctorily gave a couple of "mhm"s.
"Go back and get a good rest. I have work tomorrow. If I rember correctly, you still owe two als. I have ti in the evening," Chen Ran said.
Zhang Fanzhi knitted her brows: "It's one al."
Chen Ran flashed a toothy smile and said, "It was one al before, but now it has accrued interest."
Zhang Fanzhi looked at him expressionlessly, but Chen Ran didn't care in the slightest. He smiled and waved at her, then turned to leave.
Right as he turned around, Zhang Fanzhi slapped her palm onto the car horn without hesitation. The sudden, abrupt honk startled the living daylights out of Chen Ran.
Watching this scene, her mood suddenly improved quite a bit, and only then did she drive away.
