Chapter 66 - Your al Is Gone!
Chen Ran had only co to check on his younger sister’s work.
Chen Yao’s current part-ti job was much better than his own previous ones, and more importantly, it was work she enjoyed.
During his ti at the bar, he felt the place was quite orderly—vastly different from the impression he’d had—which put his mind at ease.
As for telling their parents, he was only scaring Chen Yao because he was afraid she would mix up her priorities and forget her studies.
“Rember to study hard. I’m heading back now.” Chen Ran gave Chen Yao a final smile.
Chen Yao nodded obediently. “I know, Brother.”
Chen Ran said, “I know you’re not short on money now, so I won’t transfer any to you in the future, lest it feels like I’m forcing it on you every ti.”
Chen Yao thought to herself: This is no different from being forced. Constantly treating yourself like an only child—don't you think that's a bit too hurtful?
She only dared to complain in her heart; she didn't dare say it out loud.
Chen Ran gave a few more instructions before finally departing.
There were no more flights now, but the high-speed rail was still running, so he planned to take a train back overnight.
Lin Fan certainly hadn't called just to gossip. Fang Qingying’s suicide attempt was a major event; the Entertainnt Channel would definitely hold an ergency eting tomorrow.
He knew Chen Ran was in Huahai today, so he had called in advance to notify him.
Sitting in the car, Chen Ran checked WeChat. Sure enough, everyone in the groups was discussing it.
Several work groups were chatting, mostly expressing regret for Fang Qingying.
From the chat, it seed Fang Qingying had broken up with her boyfriend because he had cheated, and he had said so quite hurtful things to her.
She was already in a bad mood, and then errors occurred in the program, causing the ratings to collapse.
In the end, she couldn't help but have suicidal thoughts.
Chen Ran felt it was quite a pity. Many things feel like the sky is falling at the ti, but if you persevere through that period, you will find that there truly is no hurdle that cannot be overco.
Having lived a second ti, he knew exactly how precious life was.
He sent a ssage to Zhang Fanzhi: “I’m heading back.”
She sent a “?” back.
While Chen Ran was still typing, his phone rang.
He was slightly speechless. Since you were going to call, why did you even send a question mark?
“You’re going back?” Zhang Fanzhi’s voice was quite cold; these words were likely spoken with a furrowed brow.
“Sothing happened at the TV station. There will probably be a eting tomorrow, so I’m heading back tonight,” Chen Ran said.
“There are no flights this late.”
“There’s still the high-speed rail,” Chen Ran replied.
Zhang Fanzhi paused. He could hear her breathing through the phone. Then she said:
“Your al is gone!”
After saying that, she hung up the phone imdiately.
Chen Ran gripped the phone, a bit dazed.
Why does it feel like she’s angry?
Your al is gone...
What did that an?
Chen Ran pondered for a mont before it clicked.
Last ti, she said she would treat Chen Ran to a al after returning to Lin City. Now that she was angry, that al was gone!
Chen Ran felt his brain wasn't quite up to the task of following this logic.
I’m going back for work, and you docked a al?
For a big star, you’re way too stingy!
……
In the apartnt, Zhang Fanzhi threw her phone aside in annoyance.
Tao Lin walked over, saw her unhappy expression, and asked, “What’s wrong? Still unhappy about the company’s business?”
Zhang Fanzhi shook her head and didn't speak.
Tao Lin comforted her, “Don’t take it to heart. Actually, if you look at it from the company’s perspective, you can understand why they’re doing this. After all, you’re not as obedient as Lin Hanyun; they definitely prefer the obedient ones.”
“It’s fine. So what if there’s no promotion? I’ve already lined up several variety shows for you. You can go on them to promote yourself. Add that to the publicity from Flying Against the Wind, and are you still afraid of not asuring up to Lin Hanyun?”
Today, the company had summoned them to reject their request to release the song on the sa day as Lin Hanyun.
Under Tao Lin’s adamant persistence, they made it clear: if they insisted on a sa-day release, the company would not be responsible for promotion.
Either change the date, or they were on their own.
Tao Lin was also fuming internally, but she still had to comfort Zhang Fanzhi.
Zhang Fanzhi hadn't been angry for this reason originally, but with the two things piled together, she was even more incensed, her face set in a stony mask!
Seeing the sour expressions on both of her seniors, Xiao Qin was trembling slightly. She made up her mind: she absolutely would not go out to buy alcohol later!
……
At this ti, Chen Yao returned to the dormitory fuming, carrying her guitar.
The short-haired girl was wearing headphones, bobbing her head while scrolling through videos. Seeing Chen Yao enter, she dropped her phone and, without a word, began scrambling up to the top bunk.
But no matter how fast she moved, she wasn't as fast as Chen Yao, who grabbed her by the back of the neck and hauled her down.
“Whoa, Yaoyao, you’re so strong! It’s breaking, it’s breaking! My beautiful neck is going to break!”
“I was wrong, I was really wrong! I’ll only ever be wrong this one ti in my life! Take it easy—my skin is so tender, go easy on !”
“Sister, it hurts, it hurts!”
The two beca a tangled ss of limbs.
The other roommates looked at each other, not knowing what those two were up to now.
One couldn’t help but ask, “Chen Yao, what happened to you guys? What did Naonao do wrong?”
Chen Yao climbed off the short-haired girl and said angrily:
“She’s a total bastard! My brother ca by just now, and while I was trying to find a way to hide the fact that I go to the bar from him, Zhang Naonao just blurted it out at the top of her lungs. After that, she didn't even try to help cover it up—she just turned tail and ran! She made so mad!”
Zhang Naonao took the opportunity to scramble away, first climbing to the top bunk before rubbing her neck and hissing in pain. She grunted:
“I didn't realize that was your brother! Seeing your expression, I thought he was your boyfriend and said it to give you so face!”
Chen Yao snapped, “Wow, you have the nerve to say that? Don’t even think about bringing you food tomorrow!”
Zhang Naonao hurriedly climbed down. “Yaoyao, I was wrong. I’ll go explain everything to your brother right now!”
Chen Yao said crossly, “Explain what? My brother’s already gone!”
“What about the singing thing? Did he say anything?” Zhang Naonao asked.
“I took my brother to Street Corner and let him hear sing. Only then did he reluctantly agree to help keep it from my parents. My parents don’t allow to go to bars at all. If they knew I not only went but was also singing inside, they’d definitely break my legs.”
“Aren’t you exaggerating a bit?” Zhang Naonao muttered.
Chen Yao gave her a roll of the eyes. So what if I’m exaggerating a bit!
Seeing that look, Zhang Naonao knew her anger had mostly dissipated.
She shalessly nudged closer and said, “Yaoyao, don’t be mad anymore. If you’re still angry, how about this—at most, I’ll just beco your sister-in-law. When I go to your house in the future, you can bully as much as you want!”
Chen Yao’s eyes widened. She touched Naonao’s head and said, “I didn’t use that much force just now; how did I choke you into stupidity?”
Zhang Naonao brushed her hand away and told the other roommates:
“Really, Yaoyao’s brother is very handso and looks very gentle. If you saw him, you’d definitely be thinking the sa thing!”
Chen Yao pointed at her. “Fine, and here I was treating you like a friend.”
Zhang Naonao imdiately pressed her palms together and said with a grin, “Just kidding, purely a joke! Heroine, please spare !”
Chen Yao gave a light huff.
After a while, Zhang Naonao leaned in again and asked, “What’s your brother’s WeChat?”
Chen Yao shot her a glance and grumbled, “If you joke about my brother one more ti, I’m going to lose it with you!”
Zhang Naonao muttered, “Stingy. It’s just a brother. I have a sister, you know!”
