Chapter 67 - Ergency eting
Chen Ran received a call from Director Zhang while on the high-speed rail.
Director Zhang asked, "I heard your channel ran into so trouble; have you rushed back yet?"
He knew Chen Ran was going to Huahai to et Zhang Fanzhi; it had been ntioned casually during dinner a couple of days ago.
Now, hearing that sothing had happened at the Entertainnt Channel, he imdiately called Chen Ran.
Chen Ran replied, "I’m on my way back now."
Director Zhang said, "That’s good. Since such a big incident occurred, your Entertainnt Channel will definitely hold an ergency eting tomorrow. You’ve only just started there, and your career is gaining montum; you absolutely cannot leave the leadership with an image of being complacent. For now, prioritize your work. Zhizhi is sensible; she will surely understand."

"I understand, Uncle. There were no flights tonight, so I’m rushing back by high-speed rail; I’ll be there later tonight." Chen Ran added,

Chen Ran didn't share his sentint. After thinking for a mont, he said:
"The program's ratings have been sliding continuously, and now that such a major incident has happened, it will either be axed or completely reworked. There are no other possibilities."
"It’s a veteran program after all, to be axed just like that..." Lin Fan let out a sigh.
"There’s no helping it. No one wanted things to turn out this way."
Chen Ran patted him on the shoulder. Lin Fan had been at the Entertainnt Channel for many years and had been part of most program crews; it was normal for him to feel sentintal.
Chen Ran added, "You’ve always wanted to make your own program. Now that Qingying Lecture is likely to be axed, this is actually an opportunity for you to show your skills."
Lin Fan shook his head. "I used to want that, but now it doesn't feel so urgent. I still need to learn a bit more."
During the ti he spent making programs with Chen Ran, he had realized his own shortcomings. Though he had improved through hard work, he felt it wasn't enough.
"How will you know if you don't try?" Chen Ran said.
"Let's see what the station decides first."
While they were talking, Director Yang entered the eting room, followed by Director Liu.
Yesterday, the ratings for I Love Rembering Lyrics had once again refreshed the record for the Entertainnt Channel.
Originally, they would have been in a great mood, but the news of Fang Qingying's suicide attempt last night was a bolt from the blue. Now, both of their faces looked very grim.
After Director Yang arrived, he first singled out the Qingying Lecture crew for a scolding.

During the last eting, he had told the program crew to adjust things themselves, but with the ratings having dropped for several consecutive episodes, the crew was already mired in gloom; how were they supposed to adjust?
After Director Yang left, Director Liu breathed a sigh of relief, but at the sa ti, his brows furrowed again.
Following her suicide attempt, it was definitely impossible for Fang Qingying to continue with the program.

If you replaced her with soone else, you couldn't exactly call it Qingying Lecture anymore, could you?
Director Liu Xianlong rubbed his forehead, which was throbbing painfully. He said to the Qingying Lecture crew:
"The program cannot stop for the ti being. I don't care what thod you use, you must co up with a solution; we have to hold on until the next program is ready!"
There were certainly solutions—if one didn't care about the ratings, they could just swap hosts. But if they really kept it that simple, they would be destined to sit on the "cold bench" from then on.
The people from Qingying Lecture were in a very difficult position, but who dared to say "no" right now?
"Once the eting adjourns, I'm going to the hospital to visit Fang Qingying. All you directors and planners better start using your heads. I'm giving you one night to co up with ideas. Provided you can guarantee the ratings, the faster we can do it, the better. At tomorrow morning's eting, everyone will discuss the new program for the Sunday slot!" Director Liu said with a grim face.
With those words, it was clear: he wasn't planning to rework Qingying Lecture at all, but rather to axe it and start a brand-new program!
