Chapter 1098: Chapter 1070 Ancient Village
Li Chen didn’t account for the adversarial relationship with Miao Zheng and, on the second day, directly took An Cheng to confront them.
Just as he expected, regardless of whether it was the Gu King or other matters, it was all orchestrated by Miao Zheng and his group; most of the mountain village people were completely unaware of Miao Zheng’s plans.
However, when they inquired about the Gu poison afflicting Zhang Jing, everyone in the village rely stated that the few most proficient in Gu art, including their clan leader, were presently absent.
Miao Zheng certainly wouldn’t be in the village; as to where they went, only Li Chen might know best.
But with no survivors left, it ant the path to Miao Zheng was cut off. Helplessly, Li Chen could only seek other thods.
“Don’t worry just yet, there are many other mountain villages around these mountains, and nowadays, most Gu techniques emanate from us. If there’s a solution, it must be us who discover it.” An Cheng comforted Li Chen.
At this point, Li Chen could only agree with An Cheng’s words.
Because by now, he had no other path to take.
At first, Li Chen thought the person who cast the Gu was just a regular Gu Master like Miao Chengda whom he encountered before.
But it wasn’t until eting Fan Bayin that he realized the Gu Master’s identity was not that simple.
“An organization with quite a few Earth-level experts… What kind of existence is their leader, I wonder?” Li Chen beca curious.
Li Chen didn’t know if the Gu poison affecting Zhong Tian was intentional.
But given such a large organization, it’s certainly not likely they would target an ordinary person.
Adding to Fan Bayin’s interception at Luoyuan Village, their intentions beca evident.
Thinking of this, Li Chen’s face revealed a cold smile.
“No matter who you are, if you plan to ss with , you’d better be ready to have your claws chopped off at any ti.”
The whole day, Li Chen and An Cheng traversed the forest together.
An Cheng was responsible for navigating, while Li Chen took charge of traveling.
However, after visiting two or three mountain villages in a row, they found nothing.
An Cheng used all possible thods to extract a strand of Gu poison from Zhang Jing’s body, but after scouring several villages, no one could decipher it, leaving both of them sowhat disheartened.
“Didn’t you say this place is the origin of Gu art? How is it that no one can decipher this minor Gu poison?” Li Chen said wearily as he sat by the campfire, looking at An Cheng.
“I… But I’ve never seen this Gu poison before! Not just , even the villagers we visited today couldn’t recognize it, right?” An Cheng retorted.
“This is definitely a new species!” An Cheng asserted firmly.
“Really?” Li Chen rolled his eyes and then continued his ditation.
“Here’s the plan: tomorrow, I’ll take you sowhere. If others can’t help, we might have no choice but to go there.” After so thought, An Cheng finally spoke.
“That place?” Li Chen looked puzzled.
“Exactly.” An Cheng raised his hand, pointing into the distance: “The deep mountains!”
Looking in the direction An Cheng pointed, a look of contemplation appeared on Li Chen’s face.
Li Chen had heard from An Cheng that the deep mountains were dangerous.
But as to what exactly was dangerous, An Cheng never explained. Yet today, since An Cheng suggested going there, it ant there had to be sothing in those deep mountains.
Seeing Li Chen’s expression, An Cheng seed to understand his thoughts and shook his head: “Let’s rest well tonight. At first light, I’ll take you into the mountains, and you’ll see for yourself.”
Li Chen nodded.
The next day, at dawn, Li Chen and An Cheng embarked on their journey into the deep mountains.
Along the way, Li Chen witnessed sights that were indeed eye-opening.
If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he would never have believed that in such a place, there could exist a prival jungle comparable to the Amazon.
As they walked through the forest, Li Chen clearly saw a few highly aggressive wild carnivorous animals.
However, disturbed by Li Chen’s presence, they quickly fled.
For animals, most are far sharper than humans; sensing Li Chen’s strength, they chose to flee at the first instance, with no intention of confronting Li Chen.
Certainly, this was due to Li Chen’s ability to emanate an aura.
When he concealed his aura, these wild animals were unable to detect his presence at all.
“Probably in the valley ahead.” An Cheng glanced around and then pointed ahead, speaking up.
“The valley ahead?” Li Chen asked quizzically, “What’s there, exactly?”
An Cheng chuckled but did not respond.
Not bothered by An Cheng’s pretended mystery, Li Chen simply headed toward the valley.
Until he neared the valley, Li Chen finally saw that a mountain village existed there as well.
However, compared to An Cheng’s village, this one was practically of an antiquated level.
Whether in architectural style, or in the nearly decayed breath emanating from the village’s wooden beams, everything testified to this place’s ancient nature.
Seeing this village and thinking back on An Cheng’s, Li Chen suddenly felt that An Cheng’s village was actually quite modernized.
“Is this where you wanted to bring ?” Li Chen asked An Cheng beside him.
“Indeed.” An Cheng nodded: “Across this vast mountain range, there are dozens to hundreds of villages. However, the truly most ancient villages are hidden in the depths of the mountains.”
An expression of sentint appeared on An Cheng’s face: “Unlike us, they’ve almost never made contact with the outside world, living a near-isolated life, which has persisted for hundreds of years…”
“Alright, alright.” Noticing An Cheng was about to continue, Li Chen waved a hand: “No need to say more, I get it. You’re saying there’s a chance of finding a way to break the Gu poison here?”
“Exactly.” An Cheng nodded: “Such ancient villages, even deep within the mountains, probably only number two or three, and if we talk about the origin of Gu art, it very well could be here. Only here might we find a way to break the Gu in your friend.”
“Alright then…” Taking a deep breath, Li Chen walked alongside An Cheng towards the village in the valley.
However, they hadn’t gone far when a voice rang out beside them.
“Who goes there?!”
Li Chen’s eyes were alert, instinctively looking to his side.
However, to his astonishnt, there was no one around.
