Chapter 1099: Chapter 1071 The Elder of the Ancient Village
“Who are you?”
Li Chen could confirm that he had indeed not stepped into the mountain village yet, and, indeed, there was no presence of any person around him. Even his perception couldn’t detect any presence around.
But then, where did this voice co from?
Li Chen was curious, but he didn’t have any other emotions.
In this world, there might not be many things left that could frighten him.
While Li Chen was still pondering what could have caused the sound, An Cheng finally reacted, stepping forward and saying with so respect, “An Cheng, the 27th patriarch of the An Family from the outer mountains, coming to place our ancestral ground.”
“Oh? The An Family?”
The voice hesitated for a mont and then fell silent.
After a while, the voice spoke again.
“It seems there indeed is such a surna, but since you’ve chosen to leave, why would you co back?”
“I ca today because… I have a request.” An Cheng hesitated for a mont before speaking straightforwardly.
“A request? What is it?” The voice also seed hesitant.
“This… here, should I say it?” An Cheng stamred.
“Ah… that’s right, it’s not good to say it here. You can co in.” The voice hesitated for a mont and finally faded away.
At the sa ti, not far away, the gate of the mountain village slowly opened.
And once again, Li Chen didn’t see any human figure.
“Hmm?” From the beginning, Li Chen had been compressing his perception range.
The smaller the range, the clearer the perception content beca.
It wasn’t until just now that Li Chen detected sothing unusual in his surroundings.
Beneath their feet, several ant-like creatures seed to be crawling slowly. Without careful observation, it was impossible to distinguish these little bugs from ants.
However, Li Chen sensed that the vibration of the voice seed to be transmitted from the bodies of these little bugs.
“Gu insects can be used like this? That’s indeed interesting.” Li Chen secretly nodded and then followed An Cheng into the ancient mountain village in front of him.
After entering the village gate, Li Chen discovered that, just as he saw from the outside, there was indeed no one around the gate.
But beside the gate, there were ropes used for opening it.
And at each end of the ropes, circular iron cages containing wild beasts were placed.
On the head of the wild beasts, there seed to exist so unknown little bugs, and once these bugs bit the beasts, the beasts would frantically dig within the cage.
As the beasts dug, the ropes would be pulled by the power of the circular iron cage, and thus, the mountain village gate was opened.
“Didn’t expect it to be a high-end product.” Li Chen was a bit surprised.
According to An Cheng, this place was an extrely ancient village that hadn’t been in contact with the outside world for hundreds of years. However, the bugs on the beasts’ heads were clearly Gu insects.
And this thod of opening the door was indeed utilizing Gu insects for a physically engineered effect, which An Cheng’s village couldn’t possibly have as a high-end product.
Seeing this scene, it was clear that An Cheng was no less surprised than Li Chen, dumbfounded.
“Co over here.” At this mont, an elder with a withered face walked out from a distance, beckoning the two as he spoke.
Both Li Chen and An Cheng felt puzzled but walked towards the direction of the elder nonetheless.
Under the elder’s guidance, it didn’t take long for the three to arrive at a sowhat decayed house.
Besides the elder who led the way, there were three other elders present in the house.
“This place has been unvisited for many years. If another few years pass, you might not even see us few old guys anymore.” An elder said with a smile.
However, at this mont, the elders were wrapped in thick cotton clothes, sitting at a table… playing mahjong!
“Co on, co on, I’m about to win!” One elder, chewing on an unknown grass, looked at the elder who led Li Chen and An Cheng, motioning them over.
Li Chen and An Cheng exchanged a glance, both speechless.
They had envisioned many things about this place, including various eting ways, but never expected to encounter such a scene upon eting.
Can’t bla them, previously, the voice creating an eerie atmosphere was way too mysterious.
However, the actual scene was quite different from what they imagined…
“I won! Hahaha!” One elder suddenly flipped the mahjong tiles in front of him, laughing heartily.
The other three sighed regretfully.
Only at this mont did the elders turn their attention to Li Chen and An Cheng: “You two ntioned earlier, you ca here for sothing?”
“That’s right.” Li Chen organized his thoughts before speaking: “A good friend of mine is afflicted with a kind of Gu Poison never seen before. I heard this place is the origin of Gu art, so I asked Patriarch An to bring here for a chance. If you seniors can help, I would be endlessly grateful!”
Li Chen’s words were sincere, and his purpose was stated straightforwardly without beating around the bush. He knew that when dealing with these isolated elders, simplicity was the best approach.
Hearing Li Chen’s words, the elders exchanged glances before looking at Li Chen, saying: “What kind of Gu has your friend been affected by? We need to take a look first.”
Li Chen nodded quickly upon hearing this and handed over the Gu Poison that An Cheng refined with much difficulty.
The Gu Poison was contained in a small bottle, and the elders took turns opening it, observing and slling it seriously.
After a while, the elders set down the bottle, their expressions sowhat inscrutable.
“Do you know who placed this Gu?” An elder inquired.
“I don’t know yet, but I’m sure I will find out.” Li Chen nodded.
“If you can find out… that’s good!” One elder suddenly huffed.
Li Chen sensed sothing odd in the elder’s voice, looking over curiously, noticing the elders’ expressions were a bit sour.
After a mont of silence, one elder suddenly spoke: “We can indeed remove this Gu. And we can teach you the thod to remove it. However, we have one condition. I wonder if you can agree to it.”
“Condition?” Li Chen nodded. These elders owed him nothing, and a trade with conditions was fair; he also agreed with this kind of transaction.
“As long as it’s within a reasonable scope, any condition.” Li Chen said calmly.
Hearing this, the elders smiled.
“Deal.”
