He finished reading the contents of the scroll in his hand.
Ronald faced what had happened with lingering unease.
He couldn't control his thoughts and began to imagine if there hadn't been this war, perhaps Majie'er, who was focused on magical essence experints, might have continued his research in depth to completely unravel the foundation of the spell system.
Once such research is completed, it would undoubtedly be a monuntal event impacting the entire world.
Perhaps everything would beco different from the past.
Unfortunately, this can only be Ronald's daydream now. The war not only halted Majie'er's continued experints, but the subsequent consequences were likely key reasons leading to his ultimate choice of the "Lachmont" outco.
"Sigh..."
"Mr. Ronald, is there a problem with our experint?"
Seeing Ronald sighing, Ormont imdiately asked.
He wasn't aware of Ronald's inner thoughts, so seeing the man sighing, he simply thought Ronald had discovered a flaw in the magical essence research.
"No, there's no problem." Ronald of course shook his head in denial, "Your experint has no issues whatsoever. I'm just reflecting on how much the war has influenced things."
Listening to Ronald's words, Ormont deeply resonated.
The young Caster's eyes imdiately changed, and he couldn't help but echo:
"You're right."
"I still rember years ago, my teacher took traveling through surrounding land cities when the entire eastern Sunrise Ocean, 'Lachmont' was still willing to share experiences with various kingdoms."
"But as the situation deteriorated, they now find it difficult even to maintain themselves, and the previously neutral 'Lachmont' now has to deploy spells to protect its surroundings."
"Truly, everything is different now."
"But as of now, it is what it is." Ronald consoled Ormont with a sentence, then handed back the scroll in his hand to him.
After that, Ronald rose from his chair and gestured for Il to follow suit.
"Alright, I understand what I need to know."
"I won't disturb you here any longer."
"Also, sorry for scaring you earlier."
As Ronald bade farewell, Ormont imdiately stood up straight, his tone reverting to its previous cautiousness:
"Um... Is there anything else you need?"
"If you could—" Hearing Ormont's inquiry, Ronald made a purposeful thoughtful face before continuing, "Maybe you could tell the location of that fellow Shui."
"When I leave 'Lachmont', I wouldn't want to accidentally run into him."
"Lord Shui, huh..." Ormont imdiately understood.
In his view, the fact that Ronald chose to infiltrate 'Lachmont' definitely ant he wasn't on good terms with the great Mage Shui.
Though not comparable to his own teacher, Majie'er's status,
this Shui was also a mber of 'Lachmont' higher-ups, also a top holder of the original scriptures.
Ronald's current question revealed no trace of his true intentions.
Thus, completely clueless and unaware of Ronald's true goal of acquiring Shui's original scriptures, Ormont honestly replied:
"About Lord Shui, I don't know his exact location either."
"But I do know sothing—he is now responsible for 'Lachmont's' defense work. As long as you avoid the command room by the three-beam tower, with your abilities, you should be able to exit the city smoothly."
"The three-beam tower..."
Ronald had no recollection of the term but still pretended to understand and nodded:
"Thank you for the reminder, I understand."
"..."
He then bid farewell to this 'future prominent figure' who stayed behind in the laboratory.
Ronald and Il smoothly left the castle area, even obtaining a temporary pass given by Ormont.
With this, they even acquired identity officially recognized by 'Lachmont.' Except for so special locations, they could even freely roam around the city!
"Boss, that was the future great Mage, you know?"
Walking on the road, recalling the lab experience, Il couldn't help but speak:
"You lied to him like that, don't you feel guilty?"
"If it were a real person, I might feel guilty, or choose a different way." Ronald replied very frankly, "But you know, these are rely remnants of history here, so I don't really care about these things."
"I see..." Il sowhat thoughtfully nodded and then fell silent.
Ronald then took Il, and started searching in the city for the three-beam tower ntioned by Ormont. Without surprise, they would find the other scripture holder, Shui, there and try to obtain his scripture.
Thus, a more troubleso problem began to erge.
Despite Ronald and Il having official recognized status, they couldn't just ask soone on the street about a military building like the three-beam tower.
And could only rely on their legs and eyes to search.
In a city of such scale, this task could hardly be considered simple.
Thus, after a short walk, Ronald obeyed the instinct for 'efficiency', pulling over a Caster from a less crowded corner.
With no one nearby, Ronald imdiately took action.
Layered utterances launched instantly, capturing his mind:
"Tell , where exactly is the three-beam tower?"
The controlled Caster, unable to resist the original scriptures' intimidation, imdiately replied in a dazed tone:
"The three-beam tower is located on the hill of the castle area, left of the college hall."
To be safe, Ronald continued to follow up:
"Do you have any tracking spells on you, or any place aware of your life and death status?"
To this inquiry, the Caster shook his head honestly:
"No."
So finally, Ronald asked:
"Do you know whether the great Mage Shui is currently at the three-beam tower?"
The Caster answered honestly, but the answer was disappointing:
"My rank is too low, and I'm not aware of the Mage's current location."
"..."
Though Ronald felt so disappointnt, it was also within his expectations.
He then used utterances to make him forget the mory of this encounter and let the Caster go before he and Il headed towards the location indicated.
On the road there, Il quickly expressed her confusion:
"Boss, aren't you going to deal with him?"
"You're sure he hasn't been tracked, and the Mages look pretty powerful here. What if soone detects an issue with him and traces back to expose us, what then?"
Ronald was sowhat helpless by this, so he pointed to Il's nose for her to reflect:
"Il, think for yourself."
"During the initial cycle, what on earth did you do?"
This reminder.
Il's face brightened, then quickly turned shy, with her voice softening:
"Oh, so it was about killing..."
