Ronald and his companion continued to delve deeper into the waters beneath the island.
Above the typhoon-enshrouded island, those who hadn’t encountered all of this carried on with their previous plans.
As the team leader, Claudia hadn’t staked the crux of the matter on Ronald and the rmaid of unknown origin, maintaining her own judgnt. She was still overseeing the team’s exploration of the island’s conditions.
Modeste: "We found the place Mr. Ronald had ntioned along the coastline. The traces left behind were exactly as he had described, and even..."
Modeste paused mid-sentence.
Connor, who was inspecting the coastline with him, quickly took up the conversation:
"We even saw the chiric creature with a human head and bird body that Mr. Ronald had defeated. It appeared to still be breathing."
"..."
Hearing Connor’s report, Claudia, who was responsible for relaying information, also paused slightly in surprise.
No one actually present had anticipated that the Siren, cleaved in two by the palm trees, could still be alive.
"Ensure your safety first, and see if you can obtain any information or clues from it, then continue the inspection along the coastline."
The princess’s voice ca through the communication, and the two spellcasters imdiately complied with Claudia’s orders. Modeste was responsible for ensuring environntal safety, while Connor activated his magic power directly on the Siren.
Swish, swish, swish—
Although the typhoon continued to blow rain onto their location,
the mont it ca to spell-related tasks, Connor’s displeasure with the typhoon vanished imdiately, and his hands moved so steadily that not a tremor could be seen. The critically endangered Siren even began to breathe more regularly following his motions.
Maintaining their respective tasks, the two casters chatted intermittently in the typhoon.
"So this thing just ntioned that its singing needs to be watched out for, right?"
"What, you want to do sothing interesting with it?"
"You know my school of magic, I specialize in healing and assassination. It’s just a chiric creature that can be smashed by wood. If we’re cautious, nothing will go wrong."
"You’d better be quick then. The island’s coastline isn’t exactly short, and we’ve got plenty to do."
"I got it, I got it... for the queen..."
"..."
While the two spellcasters were dealing with the barely alive Siren, the other three who had entered the island for investigation were much more straightforward.
Passing an environnt that showed no abnormalities along the way,
under the guidance of Sivler, who was responsible for leading the way, the three of them braved the downpour and hurried straight toward the center of the island. Now away from the seaside and into the woods on the island, Conni, the only female mber of the trio, quickly chanted a spell. The lush vegetation around also extended branches and leaves to provide them shelter from the wind and rain.
Although their ability wasn’t as direct as Ronald’s, which could completely block out the wind and rain, it did make their situation much more comfortable.
When the trio was halfway to the center of the island, Claudia proactively asked through the communication:
"Jubis, how are things on your end?"
"Your Highness, all is well here. There hasn’t been the ergence of any plants or creatures that are beyond my knowledge on the island. The environnt is stable and healthy. Our current direction is still being decided by Mr. Sivler’s magic."
Hearing Jubis’ response, Claudia pondered briefly before giving her instructions: "In that case, you three continue with caution. If Mr. Connor makes any discoveries, I’ll get in touch with you imdiately."
"Understood."
After a brief chat with Claudia through the communication, Jubis, who was venturing toward the island’s center, glanced at the other two companions beside him.
Sivler and Conni were both quite famous Casters in Spring City.
Before receiving today’s urgent summons, Jubis had never imagined encountering such bizarre experiences. Giant sea monsters, the royal family deploying ace investigators, several powerful owners of arcane artifacts...
He had only wanted to fish for so benefits.
Seems like his judgnt was a little off?
"Jubis, stay close. My spell’s range is limited while we are moving, and you are about to leave the protection of the forest." Just as a bitter expression began to form on Jubis’ face, Conni, who was walking ahead, called out his na. "You’ll be responsible for contacting the princess. Pay close attention to using respectful language."
"Ah, I got it!"
Jubis hurriedly quickened his pace to catch up with the other two as they continued to advance.
At their current speed, it would take roughly a quarter of an hour to reach the center of the island.
Under the cover of the forest and the typhoon,
it was uncertain if they would be able to successfully find the entrance to the ruins.
...
The teams at the seaside and advancing to the island’s center each had their own tasks, and although they all had their own thoughts, they generally followed Claudia’s orders strictly.
And as the core of the entire team,
Claudia stood on the shallow waters where the team had landed on the island, her face marked with solemn contemplation.
After the operation’s personnel were attacked by the sea monster,
the Princess of Gried realized that her mission was facing a very severe challenge. Although she could still feel that Mr. Desmond was alive, in such a situation, an ace investigator who couldn’t arrive in ti was no different from being killed in action.
rely stepping onto the island, the dozen or so people who had set out were now reduced to just seven.
To halt the typhoon’s destruction of Spring City,
she had to co up with the most suitable plan to ensure as much manpower remained on the island as possible. Otherwise, the difficulty of winning a direct fight against the person who summoned the typhoon would probably be incredibly high.
Thinking this, an image of Ronald involuntarily erged in Claudia’s mind.
This man, who had once fought alongside her, was the legitimate heir of the Alder family. Although she had no idea why he had left the small town to co to Spring City, it was undoubtedly an excellent opportunity.
If she could integrate his arcane artifact into Gried’s core system,
it would be very good news for both the country and the current situation on the mystical side. Today could also beco an opportunity to further close the gap between them.
Her gaze slowly moved to Philis, who was ensuring her safety.
Just a few seconds later, the princess’s face revealed a heartfelt, warm smile:
"Philis, how did you co to know Ronald in Yoyiz?"
"Do you mind telling about it?"
Faced with Claudia’s inquiry, Philis put on a surprised look, though her attitude was quite steady inside.
"I... Mr. Ronald and I just t there by chance. Later, by a rather coincidental opportunity, I ca to know his profound knowledge, and so the subsequent developnts took place..."
"Is that so?" Claudia, appearing contemplative, then began to walk towards the center of the island, "Let’s move in closer as well, that will be more convenient for acting later. As for our safety... we are counting on you, okay?"
Philis nodded earnestly and then revealed the standard smile she had honed as a spy:
"Don’t worry, leave that to ."
