Now reading: Chapter 93 The Warden from Mystic Overlord: Reading Gives Strength, a Fantasy novel by Lost Solar Sail.

There were strangers standing outside the room, accompanied by a gaunt-looking prisoner.

Ronald and Patricia couldn’t possibly discuss any matters of importance under such circumstances.

From geographic characters to scholastic insights, ti slipped away in aimless, idle conversation.

Yet, it might have been an illusion.

Ronald always felt that whenever the conversation touched on academic matters, Patricia’s focus would suddenly intensify.

In many aspects, rather than a mysterious noble lady,

she seed more like a mathematical enthusiast.

So, they sat for about half an hour until the sky outside had completely darkened when the knocking sound ca again.

Knock knock knock—

"Excuse the interruption."

This ti, the voice from outside was different from before.

It was a deep, resonant male voice.

The owner of the voice was decisive and took initiative.

Without waiting for Ronald and Patricia to respond inside the room, he simply pushed the door open.

Ronald scrutinized the newcor carefully.

This was a starkly composed man with black hair and green eyes, looking to be between thirty and forty, his aristocratic presence vaguely perceptible as he walked.

At the sa ti, there was no sign of indulgence-induced corpulence on the man’s erect body.

Strong muscles, visible even through his clothes, suggested inherent strength.

This was the warden of Blenheim City.

—Bach Krichens.

To hold such a position at his age, he was undoubtedly a winner in life.

However, beyond that, Ronald was more focused on his attire.

The freshly returned warden didn’t wear a coat, but on the outside of his white shirt was a sturdy leather strap, sowhat reminiscent of an underarm gun holster.

Of course, what the warden carried was not a Colt 1911.

It was a well-wrapped book, completely devoid of any distinguishable details.

—This was his original to.

Seeing such a setup, Ronald had no doubts about it.

As the holder of the original, carrying such a powerful magical item was only to be expected.

Sadly, the protective layer prevented him from seeing which ’classic’ it was.

While Ronald was taking in his appearance, the warden had already walked to the center table in the room.

His gaze swept sharply over Jennifer, and he instantly recognized the identity of the person before him, then imdiately waved his hand,

"Take this lady to the first floor and get her sothing to eat."

"Yes, sir!"

Following the warden’s command, soone imdiately ca in and took the magician away.

Then, the warden spoke in a normal tone:

"Miss Nicole, and this gentleman... from the investigative bureau?"

Ronald quickly answered:

"Ronald, just call Ronald."

"Very well, Mister Ronald."

Having confird the nas of the two individuals before him, the warden’s expression returned to seriousness:

"I’m very sorry that my steward left you two here as guests, and I would have liked to personally host you right away if possible."

"However, sadly, I don’t think I’ll have the ti tonight."

Upon hearing this, both Ronald and Patricia sensed sothing unusual.

Under normal social conventions, no host would utter such words upon eting their guests after having them wait for a while.

For Bach Krichens, the warden, this was very unusual indeed.

"Let’s talk while we walk," he suggested straightforwardly as he glimpsed Ronald and Patricia’s expressions and turned to walk outside.

"It has just been passed down; it is natural that you two might not be aware of it."

Ronald and Patricia exchanged glances, then promptly followed him.

As a key figure in Blenheim City, the warden’s words carried significant weight.

Recalling the afternoon’s experiences at the investigator’s office...

A foreboding feeling imdiately surged in his mind.

While ushering them outside, Warden Krichens began to explain to them as if they were completely unaware:

"Just half an hour ago, the Magic Incident Investigative Bureau’s operatives identified an upcoming large-scale cult magician uprising that will encompass the entire district."

"The upper echelon of the bureau has already issued an ergency assault order based on contingency protocols."

"Tonight in the Blenheim City district, multiple targeted annihilation operations will comnce, and due to personnel considerations, I will be responsible for handling the issues around the forest path."

By the ti he ntioned this, the three had already reached the ground floor porch.

A maid already prepared ca forward, carrying a new coat and pre-ward shoes and rain cloak, then expertly helped the warden put them on.

As he dressed, the warden continued,

"As for you two, since you have not been inford to join the action plan, it would be best if you went straight ho tonight."

"Otherwise, individuals involved in the Magic realm walking the streets could easily be attacked."

Patricia nodded with thanks,

"Thank you for your warning."

"It’s nothing," the warden waved dismissively, his tone still calm, "If there’s ti later, I will invite Miss Nicholas to visit again and make up for today’s rudeness."

"Please excuse my discourtesy for today."

With a few courteous exchanges, the three proceeded to the estate’s entrance.

It was different from when Ronald and Patricia had entered.

Besides a security guard, there stood a man dressed as an investigator and a young man with a resolute expression.

Ordinary people naturally should not be involved in matters of the Magic realm.

It seems these were the people who would act with the warden tonight.

"We’ll need to go et others, and we can’t accompany you further."

"Safe travels."

After bidding farewell, Ronald and Patricia and the warden’s group headed in different directions along the forest path.

The night deepened ever more.

On this side of the forest path, the gas lamps had already been lit ahead of others, each lamp illuminating the snow beneath them like beacons in the dark sea.

Walking on the street that felt like sothing out of a fairy tale,

The light shone on the snowflakes falling from the sky, creating the illusion that it was not snow descending from the heavens but rather dreams.

Watching the silvery figure beside him holding an umbrella, Ronald had to admit—it was an exceptionally good feeling of heading ho.

But concerning was the situation of Blenheim City itself.

The cult magician that Ronald and Nicole had encountered today must be inextricably linked to this incident.

If the doctrine of this sect really was the Cthulhu Mythos...

Then if the bureau fails, Ronald felt he may need to move to another city.

At that mont, walking beside him, Patricia spoke up:

"Ronald, which street do you live on?"

"Let walk you there."
