In a dark Rolls Royce on the highway, Oliver, dressed in a sharp black suit, held his smartphone in his right hand while looking intently at the screen.
It was a video of his grandfather's last words to him.
Oliver couldn't believe that he had passed away so suddenly. He knew that he was already ill and would likely die soon, but to think that he had passed away just one week after Oliver was sent to the island.
And the fact that Oliver was on that island for three months made it even more frustrating. He couldn't help but feel angry at himself for failing to stay by his beloved mother's side and take care of her.
That's right. Oliver's main concern wasn't about losing his grandfather. It was about not being there for his mother when she lost her father. She needed him at the ti. Yet he was thousands of kiloters away and didn't even know what was going on.
Oliver felt useless, useless at not being by his mother's side at a ti like this.
"Even until the end, Grandfather was so fucking selfish." Oliver clicked his tongue in annoyance.
After a while, he finally managed to calm himself down. Then he played the video of his grandfather's last words.
"Oliver. If you're seeing this video right now, then that ans... that ans I've passed away." The old man spoke weakly through his oxygen mask on a hospital bed, his voice hoarse, while the beeping machines surrounding him were proof that his life was hanging on by a thin thread.
He paused for a few seconds to catch his breath and continued.
"I know that you're probably angry at for sending you to that island. And I'm sure you have many things you'd like to say to . But there won't be any chance for that to happen, because by the ti you hear these words, I will no longer be there, alive. Hahaha... so... you can curse all you want, you can yell at all you want, and you can hate all you want... Hahaha."
Oliver paused the video and thought. "What a fucking prick. He was in no position to even fucking talk."
He then pressed the play button again.
"Listen... You are young and a pervert, but I also know that you possess potential as my heir." The old man spoke up with a tired but confident voice.
"I know this because... because you've inherited the genes of this family... hahaha... it's a gift and a curse, but it will be a power that'll take you far. And you, Oliver... You will beco the perfect man, no... the ultimate man. With the experience you gain, you'll be capable of ruling the empire I built, with that face of yours and your power."
"I want you to beco soone who can dominate this world, a man with absolute power. Because without it, no matter how intelligent or how much you study or learn, you will never truly succeed. To gain absolute power, Oliver... to rule the empire I left for you... you have to do things that others won't. It'll be hard... it'll be cruel... it'll be ugly. And I don't expect you to be happy with it either, but that's the way the world is."
Oliver let out a dry laugh and shook his head. "Grandfather, you truly are an eccentric man, an insane man... but if I have to beco a monster to protect and keep those I love safe, then so be it... I will beco the most powerful man in the world for their sake."
"Oh... and one more thing, Oliver..." The old man spoke weakly and took his last breath, a peaceful smile etched onto his face. "Follow your... perverted ways... my grandson... and give birth to many... many children..."
The video ended.
Oliver stared at the screen for a while as the words replayed inside of his head. "Follow my perverted ways and give birth to many children?"
After what he went through, it sounded like nonsense to him.
Sure, before, he loved having sex with different won and exploring the many things about himself through that, but now, he wasn't even sure if he was the sa Oliver before going to the island.
His heart was filled with darkness, and his mind had beco colder. Everything about himself that he once thought he knew about had changed.
His emotions had beco duller, and even the pleasures he felt in the past seed pointless to him.
"No... That's not right." Oliver shook his head. "That's not how it's supposed to be..."
His hand clenched tightly into a fist. "I won't allow myself to beco that kind of man... I refuse to be soone like that... I won't turn into a cold-hearted bastard like him. If I beco like that, then I won't be myself anymore."
Even though he said that, Oliver couldn't help but feel conflicted. The truth was, he already had changed into a cold-hearted person. He didn't hesitate to kill soone for his own survival. It's like he lost his ability to see good and evil. Everything beca grey to him.
That's the kind of person he had beco.
It was obvious. Yet, even so, he didn't want to accept it.
And because of that, he wanted to prove it. He wanted to prove that he was still Oliver. He was still Oliver, who loved the color and pleasures of the world.
Yes, he did want to protect everyone that he had in his life. However, that didn't an he wanted to protect them by being a cold-hearted person. It would only end up hurting them in the long run. They won't be able to relate to him if he becos a cruel monster. They would start hating him, and he would lose everything that he had in his life.
So, there's no way he would accept that kind of ending for himself. No way in hell.
That was why he needed to prove it; no, he will prove that he hasn't changed. He hasn't completely turned into a heartless bastard. He hasn't lost himself.
"Follow my perverted ways and give birth to many children." Oliver smirked. "I will, Grandfather. I will enjoy this world to the fullest, to the end of my days."
