In the thick fog, Obito didn't even flinch at the heat or acid. He just chuckled and vanished.

A second later, his figure appeared in front of the fleeing Shota Terumi, lightning crackling in his hand, Chidori screaming and it pierced straight through the man's chest.

Except... the blood quickly faded colorless.

Shota Terumi's body dissolved into a puddle of clear water and splashed to the ground.

"Water clone, huh..."

Obito raised an eyebrow.

"You think you can get away with little tricks like that?"

His figure blinked out again.

anwhile, Shota Terumi leaned against the trunk of a massive tree, heart pounding, on high alert.

"What the hell…?"

Suddenly, thick wooden branches burst from the tree trunk he was leaning on, wrapping around him in an instant.

Shota Terumi's expression shifted in horror. He imdiately tried to break free

But he couldn't move. Worse, the wood was absorbing his chakra. The more he tried to mobilize it, the faster the wood drained it.

"Wood Style: Silent Killing Binding Technique. At your level, don't even bother trying to break it. Just give up."

Obito appeared in front of him, calm and cold.

Wood Style!

Shota Terumi's eyes went wide.

"Now then... let's see what you're really up to..."

Obito's scarlet eyes locked onto Shota's.

Before the poor bastard could even react, his consciousness dropped into darkness.

A mont later, Obito raised an eyebrow, then summoned the Devouring Coffin and casually tossed Shota's dull-eyed body inside.

He sealed the coffin and muttered.

The Terumi clan, like the Kaguya clan, was one of Mist Village's bloodline families.

Their Kekkei Genkai was Boil Release.

But unlike the others, their current clan head had a daughter born with the four chakra natures: water, fire, earth, and lightning. A prodigy.

With her freakish chakra control, she'd fine-tuned the corrosiveness of her boiling mist and even created two additional Kekkei Genkai—Lava Release and Boil Release.

And no, not the lava style of Iwagakure, where it's just molten rock.

Her version was a concentrated, acidic sludge made from water and earth chakra.

A walking acid nuke.

It's why she beca a well-known genius in Mist.

Obito had caught wind of her while scanning for bloodline threats. So naturally, he had the fourth Mizukage stick the Terumi clan on the suppression list, giving them the sa "gentle" treatnt as the Kaguya.

After all, in the ani, Terumi i and Ao were the ones who realized the Mizukage was being manipulated.

Ao might've been the executioner, but Terumi i was the one who figured it out.

Ao's already dead in this tiline.

So of course Obito wasn't going to leave i alive and breathing.

Still, he hadn't expected her clan to react so early... beating even the Kaguya clan to the punch.

In the ani, Obito hadn't even controlled the fourth Mizukage by this point.

Only the Kaguya clan's destruction was ntioned. No word about Terumi's.

But...

Now that he thought about it, without his interference, they might've actually succeeded.

Terumi's boiling mist couldn't be used on oneself like the steam release of the Five-Tails Jinchūriki, so no buffs or crazy body powerups.

He turned toward the lake.

"Is it night already...?"

He sensed the distant sealing team's progress.

"Tch. Slow as hell."

Sure enough, Mist's sealing jutsu wasn't as fast or refined as Konoha's. Based on what he was sensing, it'd take them at least a full day and night to finish sealing the Three Tails into Yagura.

"And once it's sealed, it can't be undone easily… Perfect."

Obito pressed a hand against the tree beside him.

As he pulled his hand away, a black pentagram appeared on the bark...made of tiny, intricate seal formulae.

Then with a flicker of chakra, Obito vanished.

"Huh~."

At Base 2, Obito reappeared in the study.

"Man, Flying Thunder God is too damn useful. As long as there's a marked coordinate and enough chakra, I can go anywhere in a blink."

Obito exhaled.

"Hmm... I just haven't mastered it fully yet. I need more advanced sealing knowledge..."

He rubbed his chin.

Guess it's ti to visit his dear teacher's wife again.

Kushina did ntion it before... but of course, back then, he had to act like a badass and pretend he didn't need anything.
