"During the Warring States period, Uchiha Madara led the Uchiha clan in battles against the Senju, frequently using his Mangekyō Sharingan until his eyes eventually lost their light. You’re aware of this, right?"
"Yes. Based on so clan records and village rumors, it’s said that Uchiha Madara later gouged out his younger brother, Uchiha Izuna’s eyes."
After a mont of thought, Itachi gave a relatively reasonable answer—at least from the village’s perspective.
Because to those who didn’t know the truth, Madara had been painted as a villain who would stop at nothing for power.
Could such a thing be believed?
Kazuki was speechless.
It had to be said that a lot of people had gone to great lengths to tarnish Madara’s reputation.
Of course, the situation had evolved this way partly due to the Uchiha clan’s own actions.
Because Uchiha Madara had wanted to lead the clan away from the village, but the war-weary clansn refused to follow him.
Yet Madara’s influence within the clan ran too deep. The only way for the old clan leader to consolidate control was to join Tobirama in saring Madara’s na—blackening it beyond recognition.
Thus, the story beca that Madara’s eyes had gone blind, and he had stolen his brother’s eyes.
"If it were you, would you reach out to Sasuke?"
"Uh..."
Itachi hadn’t expected such a comparison. Without hesitation, he shook his head.
He would rather go blind than lay a hand on Sasuke’s eyes.
But why was the elder making such an analogy? Could it be that Uchiha Madara had...
Seeing Itachi’s realization, Kazuki nodded slowly.
"Just as you guessed, Uchiha Madara—though flawed in character—was like you in that he deeply cherished his younger brother. He would rather go blind than harm Izuna. As for the village’s rumors and the clan’s records... take them with a grain of salt. Back then, the clan didn’t follow Madara in leaving Konoha. The old clan leader—your grandfather—had to erase Madara’s legacy to secure his own authority, even if it was a slander. Unfortunately, there is plenty of people that was also relentless in his targeting of Madara."
"The Sharingan holds limitless potential. The Mangekyō is just one stage. After obtaining his brother’s eyes, Madara gained even greater power—his Mangekyō now had an inexhaustible supply of ocular power. Thus, such eyes ca to be known as the Eternal Mangekyō."
"So..."
Itachi thought of a terrifying possibility.
"So don’t let your imagination run wild."
Just as Itachi’s heart began to race, Kazuki couldn’t help but laugh.
"I’m telling you this so you understand more about the Sharingan’s secrets—nothing more. So don’t overthink it. Let’s get back on track. The Mangekyō’s ocular power is finite. Once consud, it doesn’t recover. That’s the fundantal reason why overuse leads to blindness."
Kazuki’s tone turned serious as he warned Itachi:
"So, unless absolutely necessary, don’t abuse this power. It won’t benefit you—unless you want to ’gift’ Sasuke the chance to beco the next Uchiha Madara."
Itachi: "..."
I just awakened the Mangekyō, and you’re already giving these warnings? Is this really the right ti?
"Use your ntal energy to explore. You’ll find sothing hidden deep within your bloodline. It’s a massive entity—incredibly powerful, but it can easily make you lose yourself."
Mastering Susanoo doesn’t necessarily require manifesting it outright after awakening the Mangekyō.
The ability lies dormant within the Uchiha bloodline. Awakening the Mangekyō simply ans you now have the qualifications to control it.
Just look at Uchiha Madara—even without it, he could wield Susanoo with just a pair of ordinary three-tomoe Sharingan. That was true mastery.
"Like the Sharingan, Susanoo has multiple stages. At the initial stage, you can only manipulate a skeletal frawork. The more ocular power and chakra you expend, the more complete Susanoo becos. Normally, only the Eternal Mangekyō can sustain the Perfect Susanoo. An ordinary Mangekyō can’t handle that level of consumption. Even maintaining the Complete Body Susanoo is already pushing it for a standard Mangekyō. Rember this: just like with the Mangekyō, if you can get by with just the skeletal form, don’t go summoning the Complete Body. Doing so might make you look imposing and powerful, but it’ll also drain your ocular power at an accelerated rate. Beyond Susanoo, the innate abilities of the Mangekyō are also extrely taxing. Use them sparingly unless absolutely necessary."
Itachi committed every word to mory.
If it weren’t for how awkward it would seem, he might have even pulled out a scroll to take notes on the spot.
"Awakening the Mangekyō also ans a significant boost in ntal energy. This makes genjutsu easier to control and enhances its potency. For ordinary battles, your three-tomoe Sharingan should suffice. Given your expertise in genjutsu, your abilities in this area will see a major leap."
Itachi had already noticed that genjutsu felt far more effortless after awakening the Mangekyō.
As for whether its power had increased, he hadn’t tested it yet—mainly because there was no need within the village.
Other abilities could be tested on others, but genjutsu was trickier.
"Alright, now activate your Sharingan and cast so of your strongest genjutsu on . Let’s see how much your control has improved."
Kazuki beckoned, signaling for Itachi to use him as a test subject.
"..."
Itachi froze, then instinctively shook his head.
"Elder, I’m afraid I might not be able to hold back..."
"Just do it. If you can control , I’ll share even more secrets about the Sharingan."
"..."
Itachi did want to know those secrets—but he really didn’t dare.
After waiting a while and seeing Itachi still hesitating, Kazuki sighed in exasperation.
"Fine, get out of here. If you don’t have the guts to try it on , go test it on Shisui instead. And pass on my exact words to him. He’ll understand what I an."
Most people feared Itachi’s genjutsu—but Kazuki wasn’t one of them.
Truthfully, when two genjutsu specialists tried to control each other, the difficulty skyrocketed.
With their differing levels of ntal energy, Itachi stood little chance of affecting Kazuki.
"Understood."
Relieved that Kazuki wasn’t insisting, Itachi bowed and quickly took his leave.
He really didn’t want to experint on Kazuki. If word got out, he’d be in deep trouble.
Besides, there was always the risk of Kazuki countering him instead.
Watching Itachi’s retreating figure, Kazuki muttered to himself:
"I wonder what would happen if Itachi hit with Tsukuyomi... and I countered with Will Judgnt?"
He touched his eye thoughtfully.
"So powers are truly intoxicating."
Beneath his palm, his Sharingan spun, activating the Mangekyō.
Compared to before, the patterns in Kazuki’s Mangekyō had grown more intricate.
"My lord."
