In a cave in the southwestern region of the Land of Fire, Akio lay unconscious, drenched in cold sweat.
His body suddenly twitched, and he bolted upright, eyes snapping open, slightly dazed.
"Was that… a nightmare?" Akio glanced around, muttering to himself.
After a mont, he let out a long breath.
"It's been ages since I had a nightmare... That was a scary one. If that battle really ended like that, the Uchiha might have ended up unifying the entire shinobi world..."
He looked around the cave. The Slug Summoning had long since disappeared, and the Red Sun Formation at the cave entrance was completely gone—replaced by a massive spiderweb.
"What the hell? Did I end up in Mount Spiderweb or sothing? How long was I unconscious..."
Akio paused, suddenly feeling that the scene was oddly familiar.
"No way... This looks exactly like my dream."
"Earth Style: Super Hardening Jutsu!" Akio ford hand seals and hardened his body.
With a single Fire Style jutsu, he burned away the web and strode out of the cave. The glaring sunlight struck him, but he forced his eyes to stay open.
"Phew, looks like it didn't repeat again..." he muttered, exhaling in relief.
Outside the cave, the forest remained, seemingly even more lush than before.
"Hmm… so ti must've passed."
"First things first—I need to check on Madara. The Rinnegan can't be left out in the wild."
Akio shot northward at high speed, returning to the previous battlefield.
"This place… turned into this?"
The terrain had completely changed. It appeared that the leftover water from Akio's Water Style jutsu had evolved into a wide river. Many civilians were working on building a bridge. Akio descended slowly.
As all eyes turned to him, an elderly man approached.
"Honored shinobi, may I ask your business?"
Akio frowned. He'd flown in openly—how could no one recognize him?
"You're building a bridge?" he asked awkwardly, realizing his reputation wasn't as widespread as he imagined.
The old man nodded. "Yes, ever since the Great Shinobi War over a year ago, Kannabi Bridge was blown up by you shinobi. Now that the war has paused, we're rebuilding it to restore travel."
Akio nodded. "I see..."
Then a strange thought struck him. "Kannabi Bridge? Blown up… over a year ago?"
His face froze. "Did I sleep through ti? Wasn't Kannabi Bridge destroyed by Minato's team?"
Akio's expression darkened. He glanced at the civilians. No one recognizes ... That doesn't make sense.
An uneasy feeling grew in his heart. He took off again, heading straight for Konoha.
A few minutes later, just outside the Hidden Leaf Village, Akio stood staring at the massive Hokage Rock, montarily stunned.
"Hashirama, Tobirama, Hiruzen, Minato..."
"Has it really been that many years already?" Sothing still felt off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
The gate guards were unfamiliar. Akio didn't recognize any of them. He walked through the gates, casting a simple Genjutsu so everyone would ignore him.
The village looked damaged. Many villagers were repairing buildings—as if they'd just erged from a war.
"This timing..." Akio's expression shifted repeatedly. He hurried toward the Hokage Tower.
Along the way, he heard scattered conversations from the villagers.
"The Nine-Tails..."
"Lord Fourth Hokage..."
"Sacrificed himself..."
"That damned demon fox..."
...
"Minato is dead? He died sealing the Nine-Tails? How could that be..." Akio's mood sank.
He reached the Hokage Tower. A masked ANBU blocked his path.
Akio paused. He wasn't skilled in Genjutsu, but with Level 8 Yin Release, being seen through like this was surprising.
"Who are you? How dare you use Genjutsu to infiltrate Konoha?" the ANBU demanded.
Akio sighed. "Even the ANBU don't recognize anymore? Has everyone been replaced?"
Just as he finished speaking, the ANBU trembled slightly, then spoke excitedly, "Lord Akio?! Is that really you?"
Akio blinked, then gave a small nod.
The ANBU pulled off his mask, revealing a familiar face.
"Lord Akio! I never thought you were still alive!"
"Hiruzen?" Akio blurted out, then corrected himself, "No, by your age, you must be Shinnosuke. Tell , what happened to Uzushiogakure and Konoha in all these years?"
Shinnosuke hesitated, then said, "Please co upstairs, Lord Akio. My father and the three elders are all here. They can answer your questions..."
Akio nodded, uneasily climbing the stairs of the Hokage Tower.
The mission reception area was empty. No more ANBU stopped him. He made it all the way to the top floor.
He pushed open the door to the Hokage's office. Four people turned to look at him.
Akio froze. Hiruzen and Danzo were expected—but the other two were Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane?!
"You two? How did you beco Elders? Where's Kagami?" Akio asked.
The four were silent at first. Then Hiruzen rubbed his eyes in disbelief before speaking with emotion, "Lord Akio?! You're alive?! After that battle with Madara, where did you go?"
Akio waved him off. "Forget that—just answer my question!"
Hiruzen was about to speak when Danzo raised a hand to stop him.
"Hold on. We can't be sure this is truly Elder Uzumaki Akio. It could be soone using the Transformation Jutsu."
Akio didn't get angry. He was in a hurry. With a slight motion, all four people in the room rose into the air, floating helplessly.
"It really is Lord Akio!" Homura and Koharu exclaid, and even Hiruzen's face lit up.
Seeing Akio's serious expression, Hiruzen hesitated, then shook his head. "Not long after your battle with Uchiha Madara, Great Ninja War reignited. Kagami died in Sunagakure."
Akio's expression flickered. Then, trembling slightly, he asked the question he feared the most:
"What about the Land of Whirlpools?"
Hiruzen's face turned grim. Akio felt his heart sink.
"Well? What happened to Uzushiogakure?!" he pressed.
Hiruzen quickly spoke, "It's still standing, Lord Akio. But..."
After a long pause, he continued, "During the invasion from the Land of Water, your student—Uzumaki Jitōu—used the Eight Gates Formation..."
"I see..." Akio's mind drifted, recalling mories of Jitōu, his heart growing cold.
"And what about Konoha? What happened with Minato?"
"You know about Minato?" Hiruzen asked, then explained, "Kushina went into labor. During childbirth, a masked man attacked and released the Nine-Tails. To protect the village, Minato used the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. He sealed the Nine-Tails, but died in the process."
"He used what?" Akio's expression froze—then turned furious.
"Where the hell did that co from?!"
"This is another nightmare..."
"Two nightmares in a row... So it's your doing… Black Zetsu!"
