We relocated from the noisy, flashing casino floor to the most exclusive, high-end traditional Izakaya in Tanzaku Quarters. True to my word, I rented out the entire top floor, sliding a stack of Ryo to the owner to ensure we wouldn't be disturbed.
Tsunade sat at the head of the low wooden table, a massive ceramic jug of the region's absolute finest, aged sake resting next to her. She poured herself a small saucer, took a sip, and her amber eyes fluttered shut in pure appreciation.
"Damn," Tsunade breathed out, a slight flush rising to her cheeks. "That is the good stuff. Velvety. You weren't lying."
"I never lie about investnts, Princess," I smiled, sitting across from her, pouring myself a cup of premium green tea.
Naruto was sitting cross-legged next to , stuffing his face with high-grade Wagyu beef skewers. Jiraiya sat across from him, his arms crossed, looking unusually serious. Shizune sat dutifully beside Tsunade, holding Tonton the pig, looking incredibly relieved that they were drinking in a private room instead of running from debt collectors.
"So," Tsunade set her saucer down, the relaxed atmosphere evaporating instantly as she looked at Jiraiya. "Let's hear it. How exactly did the old man die?"
Jiraiya sighed, the weight of the last few days settling on his broad shoulders.
"It was a coordinated invasion during the Chunin Exams," Jiraiya explained grimly. "The Hidden Sand conspired with the Sound Village. But the real mastermind was Orochimaru. He assassinated the Fourth Kazekage, impersonated him, and trapped Sensei in a barrier."
Tsunade's hands tightened into fists on her lap.
"Orochimaru used the Reanimation Jutsu," Jiraiya continued. "He brought back the First and Second Hokage to fight Sensei. Hiruzen couldn't beat all three of them. So... he used a forbidden sealing jutsu. He sacrificed his own soul to the Reaper to seal away the Edo Tensei, and he managed to take Orochimaru's arms with him before he died."
Tsunade's eyes widened. She stared at the wooden table, the pieces rapidly falling into place in her mind.
"His arms..." Tsunade whispered, a bitter, humorless laugh escaping her lips. "So that's why..."
"What do you an?" Jiraiya frowned.
Tsunade poured herself another saucer of sake, downing it in one gulp. "That snake bastard visited yesterday. Right here in this town. His arms were completely necrotic. Purple, rotting, and entirely useless. He was in sheer agony."
Naruto stopped eating, his blue eyes narrowing. "Orochimaru ca to see you?! Did you punch him into orbit?!"
"I should have," Tsunade muttered, her gaze dropping to her empty cup. "He wanted to heal his arms. He said he was injured by a 'stubborn old fool'."
She gripped the edges of the table, her knuckles turning white. "And in exchange for healing the arms that killed my teacher... he offered to use that damn Reanimation Jutsu to bring back Dan and Nawaki."
The room went dead silent.
Naruto jumped to his feet, his chair clattering backward. "You're not actually thinking about it, are you?! He killed the Third Hokage! He tried to destroy the village! You can't heal him!"
"Shut up, brat!" Tsunade snapped, her chakra flaring dangerously, making the air in the room heavy. "You don't know anything about loss! You don't know what it's like to have the people you love ripped away from you while you stand there, covered in their blood, completely helpless!"
Naruto flinched, but he didn't back down. Jiraiya put a heavy hand on Naruto's shoulder, pulling him back down to the mat.
I sat quietly, sipping my tea, watching the Legendary Sucker closely with my [Observation Haki].
Her anger was a shield. Beneath that furious, intimidating exterior, her emotional state was a chaotic, bleeding ss. The ntion of blood had caused her heart rate to spike slightly. She was terrified. Her hemophobia—the paralyzing fear of blood born from failing to save her lover, Dan—was the anchor holding her back from being the powerhouse she was ant to be.
Suddenly, the familiar, sleek blue interface of the System materialized in my field of vision.
[System Notification: Main Quest Updated]
[Target: Tsunade Senju]
[Analysis: The subject's combat power and leadership potential are severely locked behind deep-seated psychological trauma (Hemophobia).]
[Mission 1: The Blood Cured Princess.]
[Objective: Break Tsunade Senju's phobia of blood. Prove to her that her healing hands are not cursed, but necessary.]
[Reward: 5,000 SP, Massive Favorability Increase (Tsunade).]
I smirked inwardly, swiping the notification away. A psychological healing mission. I can work with that. Brute force won't fix her; she needs a controlled shock to the system.
Before I could formulate a plan, a second notification pinged.
I glanced over at Shizune. She was sitting quietly next to Tsunade, her dark eyes filled with deep, loyal concern for her master. She was wearing a conservative, dark kimono, completely contrasting Tsunade's flashy, revealing attire. Shizune was the glue holding Tsunade's chaotic life together. She managed the money (or lack thereof), carried the emotional baggage, and served as her unyielding pillar of support.
If Tsunade is the impregnable fortress, I thought, my eyes tracing the elegant curve of Shizune's neck, then Shizune is the backdoor key.
[System Notification: Sub-Quest Triggered]
[Target: Shizune]
[Analysis: To conquer the master, one must first conquer the attendant. The subject is highly stressed, unappreciated romantically, and fiercely loyal.]
[Mission 2: The Attendant's Awakening.]
[Objective: Court Shizune. Break through her professional boundaries and make her fall for you. Secure her allegiance.]
[Reward: 2,500 SP, Unique Item: 'Elixir of Youth' (Recipe), Unrestricted access to Tsunade's inner circle.]
A two-for-one special, I grinned, dismissing the screens and focusing my attention back on the tense room.
"Naruto, sit down and eat your beef," I said, my voice calm, cutting through the heavy tension like a knife.
Naruto glared at , but the authority in my tone made him slowly lower himself back onto the cushion.
I looked at Tsunade, letting my expression soften into one of mature, empathetic understanding—a look that completely contrasted my twelve-year-old face.
"Naruto is loud, and he lacks tact," I said smoothly, pouring Tsunade another cup of sake. "But you have to forgive him, Tsunade-sama. He's an orphan. He never had a family to lose, so he doesn't understand the sheer, gravity-defying weight of Orochimaru's offer."
Tsunade blinked, surprised by my sudden shift in tone. She reached out and took the cup I offered, her amber eyes searching my face.
"But let's look at the reality of that offer," I continued, my voice dropping to a serious, grounded timber, stripping away the flattery. "As the granddaughter of the First Hokage, you know the village's forbidden history better than anyone. You are well aware of the Reanimation Jutsu your granduncle created. Even if Orochimaru has perfected it a bit... do you honestly believe it can really bring back your brother?"
I let the question hang in the air, watching her grip on the sake cup tighten until her knuckles turned white.
"It doesn't resurrect," I said flatly, pulling no punches. "It binds a soul to a human sacrifice. Would you really like to see your brother and your lover in the form of living corpses? As cold, lifeless husks forced to walk the earth under the control of a snake?"
Tsunade squeezed her eyes shut, taking a slow, shaky breath. "I know."
"You're trapped between your past and your future," I said softly, the harshness leaving my voice. "But you don't have to make the decision tonight."
I turned my gaze away from the Sannin and looked directly at the dark-haired assistant sitting beside her.
"Besides," I smiled warmly, shifting my focus entirely to Shizune. "You aren't carrying this burden alone. You have soone who has dedicated her entire life to keeping you afloat."
Shizune jumped slightly, startled to be suddenly thrust into the conversation. "M-?"
"Yes, you, Shizune," I said, pouring a cup of premium green tea and sliding it across the table to her. "Shizune Kato. The niece of Dan Kato. You left the village with Tsunade when you were just a kid. You put your own life on hold and have been following her around ever since, taking care of the endless sses she spreads and managing the impossible stress she leaves in her wake."
I leaned forward slightly, giving her an appreciative, unblinking look. "You handle the debts, you protect her in her darkest monts, and you do it all without asking for a single ounce of credit. Tsunade-sama is the legend, but you are the unsung hero keeping her tethered to the earth. It takes a truly beautiful, remarkable woman to show that kind of absolute, selfless devotion."
Shizune's face instantly ignited, flushing a brilliant, vibrant shade of crimson. Her jaw dropped slightly at the sheer onslaught of targeted praise. No one ever noticed her struggles, let alone validated them so openly and affectionately.
Shizune swallowed hard, her hands trembling slightly as she picked up the cup. "T-Thank you, Kenji-kun."
Tsunade watched the exchange, one perfectly sculpted eyebrow rising in amusent.
"Well, well," Tsunade chuckled, the heavy tension in her chest easing slightly at the sudden distraction. She took another drink of sake. "You're a smooth operator, Kenji. First you buy my debt, and now you're trying to sweep my assistant off her feet right in front of ?"
"I'm a multi-tasker, Princess," I winked at her shalessly. "I see beautiful, capable won, and I appreciate them. It's a character flaw."
Jiraiya groaned, slamming his head against the wooden table. "Why couldn't Minato's kid inherit the rizz? Why did it go to the sociopath?"
