"Hm? Zoro, what did you just say? I don't think I heard you clearly."
Hiruzen Sarutobi's expression at that mont was extrely complicated.
If it had to be described, it looked like soone who had just swallowed sothing revolting yet still had to force himself to smile afterward.
The wind can lift a sheet of paper, but it cannot move a butterfly.
Because the aning of life lies in refusing to submit.
"I said, I refuse this mission."
Zoro repeated himself calmly, his cold eyes fixed directly on Hiruzen sitting behind the Hokage's desk.
He was already preparing to move against Danzo.
And this old bastard still expected him to continue serving Konoha obediently?
What kind of joke was that?
"Did sothing happen to you?" Hiruzen let out a helpless sigh before continuing in a gentle tone. "Then again… your grandfather's death must have affected you deeply."
Seeing Zoro reject the mission without even a mont of hesitation, Hiruzen imdiately chose to play the role of the understanding Hokage.
From beginning to end, however, Zoro's expression never changed.
"So you at least understand that much?" Zoro said indifferently. "My grandfather died only half a year ago. Do you really think I've already recovered from it?"
There was not the slightest trace of respect in his voice toward the so-called Third Hokage.
Within the shadows of the office, several hidden ANBU exchanged silent glances.
Every one of them sensed that the atmosphere had beco dangerous.
If anyone else had dared speak to the Hokage in such a tone, they would have already appeared and forced the offender to show respect.
But the man standing there now was no ordinary shinobi.
He was the Three-Sword Death God.
A monster feared even within ANBU itself.
"Ah…"
Feeling the pressure hidden within Zoro's gaze, Hiruzen rubbed his temples while inwardly cursing Danzo yet again.
That idiot truly never handled anything properly.
If Zoro had exploded in rage and attacked openly, things actually would have been easier for Hiruzen to deal with.
At that point, he could have imdiately moved against him and conveniently branded him a rogue ninja.
But now?
Zoro's dissatisfaction toward him was already obvious.
And from the looks of it, there was almost no chance he would willingly continue serving under the Hokage.
Far away in Root headquarters, Danzo suddenly sneezed for no reason.
"Sigh… in that case, go back and rest for now," Hiruzen said with feigned concern. "I'll assign this mission to soone else."
"For the ti being, stay with your clan and recover emotionally. Life is unpredictable. The dead should be allowed to rest peacefully."
Hearing Hiruzen's hypocritical words, Zoro remained expressionless.
Instead, his gaze casually swept toward the surrounding shadows.
That single glance instantly made the hidden ANBU feel a chill run down their spines.
It was as if invisible blades had suddenly been pressed against their throats.
The slightest hostile movent—
And those blades would fall without hesitation.
Several quiet days passed after that.
During that ti, Zoro continued training as usual while secretly monitoring Kushina's movents throughout Konoha.
The current year was Konoha Year 47.
Kushina was already twenty years old.
There were still four years remaining before Naruto Uzumaki's birth.
Unlike Obito, Zoro was not insane enough to slaughter innocent civilians together with his enemies.
He only killed those who provoked him.
If others did not offend him, he would not offend them.
But once soone crossed him—
He would repay them tenfold.
Because the corpses left behind during the Blood Shadow Incident contained almost no useful clues, the investigation eventually reached a dead end.
And just like that, the incident gradually beca another unsolved mystery within Konoha.
Tonight—
The ti had finally co.
Dressed in a black cloak and wearing a silver-white Asura mask, Zoro quietly stepped out of his room.
Over the past few days, only Rin had moved into his residence.
Her parents clearly had no intention of interrupting the "private ti" between the two of them.
Naturally, Zoro said nothing about it.
At present, he still had not openly revealed his hostility toward Konoha's higher-ups.
So for now, Rin and her family remained relatively safe.
Zoro was still hiding in the shadows.
But once he finally moved—
It would be a devastating strike capable of overturning everything.
Like a phantom drifting through the night, his figure instantly disappeared into the darkness.
When he reappeared, he was already beneath the moonlight, rapidly crossing Konoha's rooftops like a silent bat gliding through the sky.
According to the information he possessed, Namikaze Minato was still fighting Kumogakure forces in the Land of Lightning.
Which ant—
This was the perfect opportunity.
Swish!!
Zoro landed lightly atop a rooftop while suppressing his presence to the absolute limit.
His eyes slowly turned crimson.
Three black tomoe rotated silently within them.
Below him—
A beautiful red-haired woman changing clothes entered his sight.
Her skin was fair and faintly flushed, as though she had just finished bathing.
Unfortunately for her—
Zoro had no interest in voyeurism.
His figure vanished instantly from the rooftop.
"Who?!"
The mont Zoro appeared inside the room, Kushina reacted imdiately.
Unfortunately, the gap in strength between them was simply too overwhelming.
Her mind could react, but her body could not keep up.
The Sharingan activated instantly.
A powerful genjutsu erupted from Zoro's eyes.
This was a genjutsu capable of controlling even the Nine-Tails itself.
Kushina's pupils quickly lost focus.
It resembled hypnosis, if it were soone with darker intentions, they might have used this opportunity to indulge in disgusting desires.
Unfortunately, Zoro had no interest in such things. A precise chop to the neck knocked Kushina unconscious instantly.
And to ensure the genjutsu could not be broken midway, he added another layer of insurance.
Carrying Kushina by the waist, Zoro vanished from the room once more.
As he rapidly moved through the darkness, Observation Haki expanded outward to its limit.
Not everyone in the world was Namikaze Minato.
Naturally, almost nobody noticed Kushina disappearing from the village. As the Nine-Tails' Jinchūriki, Kushina normally had ANBU monitoring her movents at all tis.
Unfortunately for them, Hiruzen himself had recently suspended the nightti ANBU patrols.
Because he feared the mysterious killer responsible for Asuma's death would continue targeting his loyal subordinates.
Every action Zoro had taken until now had been deliberate.
Every step connected perfectly to the next.
Even the slaughter of the ANBU had never been aningless.
Soon, Zoro arrived at a sealing formation he had specially prepared beforehand.
He quietly observed the completed ritual site.
Under normal circumstances, the seal imprisoning the Nine-Tails would only weaken naturally during a female Jinchūriki's childbirth.
But Zoro possessed another thod.
He placed Kushina at the center of the ritual platform before tightly binding her wrists and ankles with chains.
Looking at Kushina, who resembled a sleeping beauty beneath the moonlight, Zoro's expression remained completely indifferent.
He slowly lifted part of her nightclothes, revealing her pale, flat abdon.
Then he pressed his palm directly against the seal on her stomach.
Dark purple-black chakra instantly spread across Kushina's body.
"Contract Seal Release!!"
Black markings erupted violently outward from Zoro's hand.
Kushina's face instantly twisted in pain.
Even while unconscious, her body trembled violently as her brows tightened together. Soft, painful sounds escaped uncontrollably from her lips.
The Nine-Tails' chakra exploded outward from her body like a violent storm.
A terrifying shockwave blasted the surrounding dust and debris away in an instant.
The air trembled, the earth cracked.
An enormous mass of sinister chakra surged wildly into the night sky like a natural disaster descending upon the world.
After a long ti—
The complete Nine-Tails was finally extracted from Kushina's body.
Thanks to the monstrous vitality of the Uzumaki Clan, Kushina did not die imdiately after the extraction.
And from the very beginning, Zoro had never intended to kill her.
Soon afterward, he rapidly returned toward Konoha.
Standing beneath the dark night sky, Zoro quietly looked down at the peaceful village before him.
His gaze remained calm and emotionless.
Because he already knew, after tonight, Konoha's fear and suspicion toward the Uchiha Clan would deepen even further.
And that—Was exactly the result he wanted.
The next mont, Zoro suddenly slamd his palm onto the ground.
"Summoning Technique: Nine-Tails!!"
