The attack was even more swift than Yang Xiao had anticipated. In a rush, Yang Xiao couldn’t manage to jump off the mortuary platform and could only let his body fall backwards in a relatively safe way, landing on the ground.

As he exerted force with his feet, the mortuary bed with wheels was also pushed, crashing towards the Headless Ghost.

In that brief mont, it gave Yang Xiao, who had fallen to the ground, a chance to get back up. The flashlight slipped from his hand, though it wasn’t broken, it rolled to a far distance, leaving only the pager.

The surroundings plunged into darkness, the Headless Ghost was nearby, Yang Xiao didn’t have ti to think, supporting himself with his hands on the ground. But as he got up, his right hand inadvertently pressed onto a round, rolling object.

It was Wu Qiao’s head!

But the next second, before Yang Xiao could push the head away, the crying through the pager stopped, leaving only the sound of the Ghost Baby.

Yang Xiao imdiately realized that this head was useful; this item was a part of the Headless Ghost’s body.

anwhile, the Headless Ghost’s body seed to go mad, actually overturning the mortuary bed, its crawling sounds in the dim environnt were extraordinarily eerie.

It was enraged.

Yang Xiao imdiately understood that to deal with this Headless Ghost’s body, this human head was the key.

The head was wrapped in cloth. As Yang Xiao got up, he grabbed the head, wrapped it in the cloth, and ran away with it.

The Headless Ghost’s body was in hot pursuit behind him, and occasionally, the sound of things being knocked over could be heard.

The pager had only the sound of the Ghost Baby crying, weak and faint. In such a situation, Yang Xiao could not afford to be distracted. He knew that if he stopped for even a mont, he’d be pounced on by the Headless Ghost.

One running, one chasing, now with the loss of the flashlight, this ga was deadly for Yang Xiao. Luckily, the flashlight hadn’t gone out, so Yang Xiao tried to run in the direction illuminated by its light.

The escape was fraught with danger, his body and the head in his hand frequently bumped into obstacles, which also made Yang Xiao discover a crucial detail.

Each ti the head suffered an impact, the pursuing headless body seed affected too, losing balance, limbs becoming chaotic. It was fortunate, for otherwise he would have been caught long ago.

Upon realizing this, Yang Xiao circled around several rows of iron cabinets, intentionally using the head to strike against cabinet doors or other obstacles, and even swung the head like a teor hamr, making it spin.

However, the head was too heavy, and such spinning was too exhausting, unsustainable over a long period.

But the effect was surprisingly good. The headless body totally lost its sense of direction, crashing from east to west, limbs in disarray, like a drunk man making a scene.

Seeing this, Yang Xiao felt sowhat relieved. He picked up the flashlight first, then distanced himself from the headless body.

He couldn’t see the opponent, but the continuous sound of objects being knocked over, and the chaotic noises exposed the ghost’s position.

The female ghost not taking action ant he couldn’t kill this guy, so Yang Xiao didn’t waste ti on the headless ghost. He casually hung the cloth-wrapped head on a sturdy old standing coat rack and then kicked the head.

The head swung like a pendulum in midair, swinging back and forth while continuously rotating. Naturally, the headless ghost felt dizzy again.

Using this thod to stall the headless ghost, Yang Xiao then placed the pager’s speaker to his ear, searching along the rows of iron cabinets.

He could roughly guess that the infant corpse must be hidden in one of these many iron cabinets, most likely behind a locked door.

Without the interference of the headless body, Yang Xiao worked surprisingly fast. The closer he got to the Ghost Baby’s hiding place, the clearer the crying from the pager beca.

anwhile, he couldn’t relax his vigilance towards the Headless Ghost. Whenever Yang Xiao sensed the commotion from the Headless Ghost lessening or sounding less chaotic, he would run over to the clothes rack with the head and give it another strong kick.

Before long, Yang Xiao stopped near one of the iron cabinets at the corner of the second-to-last row.

He listened carefully, the crying from the pager was clearer than ever, as if... as if it was crying right next to his ear.

Exactly right.

This was the place!

The entire iron cabinet had about 20 or so compartnts. Yang Xiao tried them one by one, finding all but one locked and unopenable; the rest he opened, checking the contents thoroughly.

Inside, it was just so discarded junk, no sign of the infant corpse.

Yang Xiao knew roughly that a fetus around 6 months old would weigh more than a pound and wasn’t a very small item. Combined with the need for sothing like quickli for preservation, the size wouldn’t be too small.

Of course, if it were ashes, that would be a different story. But if it could be cremated, why go to the trouble of hiding ashes here? It doesn’t make sense.

In conclusion, Yang Xiao determined that the infant corpse, which had been extracted from the female ghost’s belly, was hidden in that one locked compartnt. Due to the environnt, the keyhole on the compartnt had rusted shut. Yang Xiao had to find a tool to pry it open.

Fortunately, there’s no shortage of tools here. Yang Xiao found a rod with a slightly flattened front, resembling a crowbar, made of pure steel, feeling quite heavy in hand.

As he walked back to the iron cabinet and passed the clothes rack, he gave the head another fierce kick, letting it keep spinning and swinging.

Inserting the flat end into the gap of the compartnt, Yang Xiao’s muscles bulged on his arms, and in a mont, he pried the cabinet door open. But to his astonishnt, it was empty inside.
