The surroundings were quiet, only Yang Xiao’s faint footsteps could be heard. Through a door and through the lens of the DV cara, he saw the room with the script room sign.
The door to the script room was closed, and there was nothing outside.
But Yang Xiao dared not relax even a bit. He tightly held the DV cara in his hand, recalling Munan’s mory from last night. Just outside this door stood an invisible Door-knocking Ghost.
This Door-knocking Ghost was extrely dangerous. Just one encounter was enough to kill Yang Yan, and only those who possess a DV cara can be immune to its attack.
More precisely, they could ignore it, since the person with the DV cara couldn’t see it, and at the sa ti, this Door-knocking Ghost couldn’t discover the person holding the DV cara. It’s a kind of mutual invisibility, which was also why Yang Xiao told Jiang Qingluan not to co along.
Yang Xiao approached the script room alone, his ears constantly alert to any nearby sounds. He finally stood outside the door, and at that mont, his perception deviated greatly.
This feeling was very strange. Before him was clearly a burned and unrecognizable room. The door had already burned away, leaving only a charred doorfra. But through the lens, there was a clean and tidy door with the words "script room" on it.
Even more magical was that while his eyes were glued to the lens, he reached forward and actually touched a door in midair. Adjusting the angle, he even felt the doorknob.
As he pressed down hard with his palm, a "creak" sound erged from the lens. In the next second, the door in the lens opened, revealing a small and cramped office inside, with a very ssy desk.
After confirming there was no danger inside, Yang Xiao entered the office, holding the DV cara and filming the vicinity. Soon his attention was focused on the desk; on the right side of the desk was a locked cabinet door.
The cabinet seed spacious, square-shaped, and large enough to fit a regular manila folder vertically.
Yang Xiao tried several tis but couldn’t open it. At this critical mont, searching for a key was wishful thinking. Luckily, he found a lady’s hairpin in the pen holder on the desk.
It was the cheapest kind, made by simply bending a colored wire. Yang Xiao picked it up in front of the lens and bent it a few tis into the shape he wanted, then squatted down and began to probe the lock hole.
In less than half a minute, Yang Xiao opened the cabinet door, finding inside a tal file folder rack stuffed full of manila file folders.
Casually pulling one out, he saw a line written prominently on the front with a steel pen: Complete Record of the Guanyin Village Reservoir Drowning Case.
Yang Xiao imdiately understood. No mistake, this was where the scripts of all the films previously shot by Chen’s Strange Film Industry were stored.
Quickly, Yang Xiao took out stacks of file folders and searched one by one until finally, in the last compartnt, he found what he wanted: Docuntary of the East Mountain Machinery Factory Incident.
After the prominent title, there was a parenthesis, with the words "Yinren" written inside.
No doubt about it, this was it!
Yang Xiao opened the manila folder, revealing papers stapled together. He flipped through them quickly; no problem, it was indeed a script, and its content was related to the East Mountain Machinery Factory case.
Staying here to calmly read the script was impossible. He put the script away securely and prepared to leave.
The night’s operation was very successful, but Yang Xiao knew deep down this wasn’t solely his accomplishnt. He didn’t have that capability; he was stepping on the blood of those who ca before him, advancing step by step to this point.
Zhou Mingxiao, Munan... it was the information obtained at the cost of each teammate’s life.
Those trapped in the Nightmare World all had an obsession: no matter what, they couldn’t all perish together. Even if they died, they must leave clues before dying to pave a path for their teammates behind them.
As if as long as soone could break the nightmare and escape alive, even if only one person survived, they could take away the souls and obsessions of their fallen teammates.
Leaves fall to their roots.
Taking the script, Yang Xiao left in a hurry. On the way back, his heart was beating fast. Everything went smoother than he had imagined, making him vaguely uneasy, feeling sothing was going to happen.
"It’s all an illusion, it’s all an illusion..." Yang Xiao reassured himself while staying alert, knowing their journey was anything but smooth. Too many skilled people had been lost, and tonight’s success was built on the sacrifice of his teammates.
All along the way, Yang Xiao continuously scanned his surroundings with the lens, worried about the Source Ghost. However, according to experience, there would be specific signs before the Source Ghost appeared.
For example, there would be strange "rustling" sounds, and the DV cara’s footage would be inexplicably interfered with, causing it to beco blurry.
But so far, none of this had happened. Based on the effort of those before him, his progress tonight was rapid, certainly faster than Zhou Mingxiao’s and Munan’s.
Yang Xiao walked along the corridor and soon arrived at the agreed eting point with Jiang Qingluan. He knocked cautiously on the door, but inside was complete silence.
His heart tightened suddenly, and Yang Xiao imdiately pushed open the ajar door, but there was no sign of anyone inside. Jiang Qingluan had disappeared.
As if that wasn’t enough, there was a piece of paper lying behind the door. Yang Xiao took a close look; it was a map, one he had left for Jiang Qingluan.
Upon seeing the map clearly, Yang Xiao felt a sinking feeling in his heart. The map marked the layout and passageways of the 18th floor, crucial for tonight’s plans. Jiang Qingluan losing sothing so important ant she had encountered an accident, but for now, Yang Xiao couldn’t guess which ghost had targeted her.
Though Jiang Qingluan wasn’t at her peak in terms of physical and ntal strength, she was certainly no slouch. Most of the ghosts on this floor had had their killing thods identified, theoretically posing no threat to veteran players like them.
Suddenly, Yang Xiao’s brow furrowed as if he had thought of sothing. He imdiately turned back, not heading towards
