"No." Kato Atsushi shook his head.

"No."

"I didn’t either."

Yang Xiao and Tong Han, along with the others living on nearby floors, replied in unison.

From the accounts of those who arrived at the scene first, Yang Xiao learned that they had not discovered anything unusual in the room, naly Sakurai Miyuki’s room.

Hasegawa Hideji stepped forward, grabbed Sakurai Miyuki, and pushed her towards the room. "Go, show us the exact spots where the anomalies appeared."

It was clear that Sakurai Miyuki was still very afraid, but she had no choice. She was escorted back to the room like a criminal. Her missing shoe was still lying behind the door, indicating the urgency at the ti.

She pointed to the direction where she heard footsteps and the wooden cabinet where the banging sounds ca from.

Yang Xiao was sowhat surprised to see that the wooden cabinet Sakurai Miyuki pointed at was not a wardrobe, but rather a small wooden cabinet about half a person’s height, amber-colored, with sliding doors. The cabinet door was now open by a third, revealing so scattered junk inside, the internal space hardly big enough.

Yang Xiao roughly estimated that hiding an adult inside was impossible, unless they were folded.

"Are you sure it’s this one?" Kato Atsushi’s heart was filled with doubt. He turned to look at the large wardrobe standing in the corner, "Not this one?"

The wardrobe’s door was completely open, and it was empty inside.

From the appearance, it was clear that the wardrobe was brand new, while the small wooden cabinet had been discarded here for a long ti.

"That’s right, it’s this one, I... I rember it clearly!" Sakurai Miyuki seed to have fallen ill, refusing to approach the small wooden cabinet; her fear was not feigned.

But they had checked the whole room earlier, including the small cabinet, and found nothing.

At this mont, Jiu Shan Sha Yue turned on the flashlight, cleared out the junk inside, illuminating the interior of the small cabinet, and examined it thoroughly. Just when she reached out to pull the sliding door, she suddenly paused.

She seed to have discovered sothing. Turning on the flashlight, she stuck her head into the cabinet, looking towards the diagonal back, and then gasped in shock, calling, "Soone co over and help take the cabinet door off!"

The small cabinet was wedged into the gap between the bed and the wall, lacking space to operate, so they decided to move the whole cabinet out into a slightly open area, then took the cabinet door down.

Only upon inspection did they realize that behind the seemingly intact cabinet door were more than ten scratch marks, as if frantically made with a knife. Moreover, there were many inexplicable tiny holes, appearing like they were stabbed with a sharp tool like an awl.

The marks were very fresh, corroborating Sakurai Miyuki’s words.

A ghost indeed appeared, not so hallucination induced under high pressure. This unknown Fierce Ghost was likely targeting Sakurai Miyuki.

This scene inadvertently reminded Yang Xiao of his ordeal during the dark competition at Confucian Forest Academy, facing the half-bodied Butcher Ghost.

After confirming the ghost’s presence, the atmosphere at the scene beca oppressive. They persistently interrogated the sole eyewitness, Sakurai Miyuki. However, being a newcor overwheld by fear, she couldn’t provide more useful information, and there was no choice in the matter.

anwhile, a pressing question lingered in everyone’s minds: Why was Sakurai Miyuki still alive?

Why was a newcor, at the ti only aware of fear and losing rationality, not killed? This was very suspicious.

Suddenly, a bold speculation flashed in Yang Xiao’s mind, "Count the people, who hasn’t co?"

His words woke everyone from their dreams, sending chills down their spines. Indeed, a ghost wouldn’t appear without reason, nor let go of a chance to kill without reason. Perhaps... soone had already died!

Upon investigation, there were 10 people present, including Sakurai Miyuki. Those absent included Police Chief Takeda Yuji, Beiyu Ye, Yakuza officer Heize Lin, dietitian Nishimura Yuna, Yakuza boss Qingshui Cangjie, and lastly the newcor Sato Shouta.

Takeda Yuji was on the 1st floor tonight, Beiyu Ye and Heize Lin on the 2nd floor, Qingshui Cangjie and Nishimura Yuna on the 3rd floor, while Sato Shouta shared the 7th floor with Yang Xiao.

Everyone imdiately realized the problem; the previous 5 people were on distant floors, perhaps not hearing the screams, unaware of what had happened. But Sato Shouta was different. He lived on the 7th floor, very close by, certainly could not have been unaware.

Simultaneously, they thought of sothing terrifying. According to Sakurai Miyuki, the footsteps she initially heard ca from upstairs.

Sakurai Miyuki’s room was in the east-west corridor, and so was Sato Shouta’s. In other words, his guest room was located directly above Sakurai Miyuki not far away.

The ghost must have killed Sato Shouta first before seeking Sakurai Miyuki.

"Damn..." Yang Xiao could almost foresee Sato Shouta’s fate, only he hadn’t expected it to co so quickly.

They rushed upstairs at once, led by Yang Xiao, gathering outside Room 7023.

They listened for a while, and the room remained silent as death, an ominous feeling spreading around, pressing down with suffocating intensity.

"Bang bang bang!" Hasegawa Hideji was bold, pounding the door with his fist, "Is anyone there? Sato Shouta, are you inside?"

Behind the door, it remained silent.

Without wasting more ti, they slightly spread out, giving Hasegawa Hideji space. He backed up two steps, gathered strength, and kicked fiercely, but to their surprise, though the door didn’t open, a scream erupted from inside.
