If that knife had stabbed into Yang Xiao, he would have been carried away directly.

"Frog" was less than 5 ters away from Yang Xiao, just standing there, motionless, with his huge head rotating slowly like radar, scanning the surroundings bit by bit with his blood-red, horrifying eyes, looking for Yang Xiao’s position.

At this mont, Yang Xiao finally made out Frog’s full appearance: he was wearing a filthy white lab coat, stained with dirty blood, so of which were still fresh. Yang Xiao’s nose twitched slightly; he could sll a faint scent of blood.

Before, when Yang Xiao had been hiding under the bed, he had seen Frog’s lower half. Back then, there hadn’t been so much blood, which ant that in this period, Frog had killed soone—at least one unlucky soul had died under Frog’s scissors.

As ti ticked by, Frog showed no signs of leaving. The creature wasn’t foolish, knowing soone was hiding nearby.

Frog held a bloodstained pair of large scissors upside down in his hand. In the dim light, they reflected a cold gleam. Yang Xiao had no doubt that if he showed even the slightest bit of carelessness, just the slightest, he would be cruelly torn to pieces.

If the enemy didn’t move, neither would he, and although it seed safe for now, Yang Xiao knew trouble would arise if too much ti passed. At that mont, he was also thinking. His neck stayed still, but his eyes constantly surveyed the nearby area. The one who had ambushed him earlier had also run here, their speed not much faster than his own. But when he had arrived here, that person’s footsteps had disappeared.

Yang Xiao suspected that the other person hadn’t run far and was likely hiding nearby, just like him, possibly... right beside him.

Now, they were both trapped. Frog was clearly aware of their presence nearby. Based on Yang Xiao’s past mission experience, Frog wouldn’t leave until at least one person was found—or rather, until one was killed.

But... where could that person be hiding?

His eyes continued to search the vicinity. Compared to the other, Yang Xiao was at a clear disadvantage because he had arrived later. The person who had hidden first must have heard his footsteps and, even if they couldn’t pinpoint his exact location, would have a rough idea of where he was.

But now both were targets, and the other person wouldn’t dare to make any conspicuous moves. Otherwise, if caught by Frog, they would be the one to die.

After observing for a while, Yang Xiao also noticed so of Frog’s flaws. Its head kept rotating, very slowly, aning that when its head was fully turned to the other side, Yang Xiao would be behind it, with about 10 seconds or so in that position.

Ten seconds wasn’t particularly long or short, but he could use that ti to move slowly, just a few ters at a ti. As long as there was enough ti, he had a complete chance to escape. Upstairs or down, it didn’t matter. As long as he could get into Frog’s blind spot, he would win.

Suddenly, Yang Xiao’s forehead wrinkled. Out of the corner of his eye, he inadvertently caught sight of the staircase leading up another level. He rembered that at the turn of the stair, there used to be a filthy trash can made of stainless steel. But now, the spot was still filthy, with black plastic bags of trash lying on the ground. The trash can, however, was gone.

This discovery imdiately tensed Yang Xiao up, reminding him of the mysterious disappearance of a flowerpot not long ago.

He now knew that the flowerpot had been moved by soone, possibly "Bad," or perhaps one of the malicious teammates on this mission. But either way, it was all the sa to him. Now that the trash can had disappeared, it had to have been stealthily taken away. In other words, that person was hiding at the stair’s turning point!

Realizing this gave Yang Xiao a clear understanding of what the other person was trying to do. Knowing roughly where he was, they wanted to throw the trash can at him, forcing him out into Frog’s grasp, then take the opportunity to run—for a two-in-one deal.

Yang Xiao’s response was simple. When it was ti for Frog to turn its head again, he didn’t move sideways along the wall, as people would normally do. Instead, he took a risk and moved quickly toward the center, his footsteps fast but soft. By the ti Frog turned its head back, he had already moved 4 or 5 ters forward, reaching the handrail of the downstairs staircase.

It was, undoubtedly, a bold attempt. After all, he was closer to Frog now, and staring at the rotten-eyed ghost only about 3 ters away was indeed terrifying. But at that mont, he had no choice but to gamble.

The other person had picked up the trash can, having a higher position, but hesitated to throw it, also predicting Yang Xiao’s position—a fact known to both.

After half a minute passed, as the rotten-eyed ghost was about to turn back towards Yang Xiao’s direction, suddenly there was a whoosh, and a trash can almost half the height of a person sailed through the air. It slamd into the wall where Yang Xiao had been hiding.

The other person had tid it just right. In the next second, the rotten-eyed ghost saw the trash can and charged at it with breakneck speed, swinging the large scissors in its hand to cut the tossed trash can in half. anwhile, it began slashing and stabbing through the air haphazardly. The scene made Yang Xiao, not far away, break out in a cold sweat. If he had still been hiding in the sa spot, he would have been dead beyond doubt.

As Frog was distracted by the trash can, footsteps could be heard running upstairs at the corner. Missing its target, the person just fled.

After venting its rage, the rotten-eyed ghost seed to find a new target and ran quickly towards the other end of the hallway.

"Thud."

"Thud."

"Thud."

The dull footsteps grew fainter until they vanished at the end of the corridor. Judging by the sound, it had run past the elevator’s corner and entered another hallway on the sa floor.
